Sky's New Awakening

-2 Years Later-

--Sky's Perspective--

"Mom! What's for breakfast?" I asked, wiping my heavy eyes while stumbling into the kitchen. My entire family had already been eating, and Cynthia was even home today.

"Oh, 'sup little bro?" Cynthia asked me.

"Oh, HTG hasn't started yet?" I asked her. She shook her head as she sipped something out of a cup.

Cynthia Asterio, my older sister, was a member of the higher academy that MTG led into. She was at the top of her class and was able to use my mom's powers to the highest degree, almost even higher than her. Regardless, she decided to sit at home for the time being to train me to use Mom's special power: Strands.

Small parasites that learn my DNA and replicate it into a conceivable string, strands are the main power source for my mom and our entire family as we know it. Strands can be used for any imaginable thing, as they mimic and replicate anything they're attached to. My mom uses it to summon weaponry and increase her physical ability, while my sister uses it to manipulate objects directly. Today, I would learn how to use these strands to a degree such as my family, hopefully.

"Quit staying up so late, dork. I have to go to MTG, I'll be back soon." My dad said to us. He hugged Cynthia and me and kissed my mom before walking out of the door. I forgot, he works at MTG with my mom as its guardian.

"So, Cynthia's going to teach you how to use the strands?" Mom asked me, rubbing my messy hair while sipping coffee from her cup as well.

"I guess so. Any tips?" I asked her. She nodded and sat down at the table with Cynthia and me. The glossy wood on the table reflected her intense stare as she looked at me with displeasure.

"If you feel any strain on your head, even the slightest headache, you are to stop using strands until I tell you to continue. I'm not kidding right now, headaches can be the end of your life, I've given myself several strokes maximizing strand production and almost killed myself while holding off Rubeki. Headaches mean that you stop. Understood?" She told me.

I felt the lump in my throat slide against my windpipe as I nodded in response. It was terrifying to hear a person such as my mom almost die using the strands. They're quite the tool...

"C'mon scaredy-cat, time to go," Cynthia told me with a smile. She was waiting by the door and I quickly followed right behind.

"Did you even brush your teeth? I'm surprised you have pants on, to be honest." Cynthia told me while walking ahead of me. We were heading to my backyard by taking the path next to the front door and would use that wide area to train with the strands.

"While we're on the way, let's discuss something about the strands. Mom is right, a headache can be fatal, but it also means growth, that's why you stop as soon as you feel it. You go until you can feel it, and you stop when you do. Strands are obviously no joke, but the headaches don't come for a while. It won't feel like anything is happening to you until one day you reach your limit and can't use them efficiently for a while. That just means you have to try harder. Got it?"

"Yeah, got it. How will I use them first?" I asked my sister. She sat puzzled for a moment, then snapped as if she suddenly got an idea.

"They're an imaginative tool. Whatever you want to imagine them as is what you can use them for." She said. I noticed Cynthia talking... but I was stuck looking at the sky again.

"I can't tell if it's simple childish behavior or narcissistic behavior when you look at the sky. Just because you're named after it doesn't mean you have to constantly stare at it. Anyways, have you thought of anything?" Cynthia asked me.

"I... have a clue, yes," I admitted. Cynthia nodded and summoned a 'strand saber', which is what my mom used to fight off Rubeki. A cylinder that holds a ton of strands, used as a sword with infinite edges, was a deadly tool made of strands. Cynthia made the saber and pointed it toward me. It shone with a bright purple glow that almost blinded me.

"Sorry little bro, but I won't hold back on you just because we're related. Go on, use something you've imagined and think of it in your hand." Cynthia told me. Right after she told me, she darted in with a wide attack from the saber, swinging up from the sky. The gleaming purple glow and the brightness from the sun reflecting off of our house blinded me, but the saber in my hand that appeared didn't stop.

The two sabers collided and created an ugly noise I've heard before, so I didn't really care about it. The strands reacted against each other, but they weirdly combined in some areas. Cynthia shot backward instead of sticking with the clashing sabers and tilted her head.

"I guess since we share the same DNA, the sabers don't push against each other. How weird... well, I see you've made your choice! I remember when my saber used to be white... how's your head?" Cynthia asked me.

"It doesn't hurt... I sort of wish it did." I admitted. Cynthia gleefully walked over toward me and put her arm around my neck.

"Oh, such an ignorant child! Anyways, let's move on to control. You've summoned the saber, how do you fare with controlling the strands directly?" Cynthia asked me. I didn't know how to answer that, as I never tried before... but I was eager to learn.

This really was the beginning of something grand. I can't wait to learn all of these new skills... but will I do okay? I wonder how Shike, Belle, and Alexia's training is going right now... I have to beat them!
