Sky's Style

-2 Weeks Later-

"One more time." Mom told me, summoning her purple saber and showing it off to me. I mimicked her movement, pulling out my white saber and charging forward.

My mom's DNA and mine were too similar for the saber to bounce off of each other, so holding my saber against Mom's resulted in absorption that leaned toward her more often than not. I had to keep my distance, which formed my own unique fighting style.

I became more accurate with throwing my saber and summoning during the two weeks I've been training. I could summon a saber in my hand whenever I wanted without headaches and could throw it and make it vanish as well. I had extreme strand control, which my mom praised me for.

Learning these skills hurt for a while, but after the first week, my body stopped aching. Mom taught me to reinforce my body and summon the strands at the same time, so my capacity has multiplied by about 100 times the original, as Mom described.

With my body reinforced, that meant that no regular weapon could pierce my or slash at my skin without first tearing strands. Of course, they would fall off after a while and I would be left vulnerable, but during my first few moments of reinforcing my body, I was practically invincible unless a saber with DNA not similar to mine interacted with my body.

Mom slashed upwards and I blocked it while retreating backward with a back step that was powered up from the strands. They layered my muscles and allowed me to use more of my true strength, which meant that I was now 'super-human' by some standards.

Mom and I went back and forth, swinging at each other. She closed the distance faster than I could create it, but I wanted to at least land a hit on her!

I twisted my body around with the support of the strands and was able to break past her defense, getting ready to slam the saber down on her arm.

My mom reacted weirdly by dropping to the floor on her back, placing her heel against my sternum, and pushing me back further into the field. I lost all of the air in my lungs and as I hit the ground, the reinforced state I was holding onto dispersed.

"Your vital organs are the most important point. Take reinforcement off of your hips and put it there instead. You're able to maintain it, but I want you to learn to move the reinforcement as well, otherwise, you'd be wearing a suit of armor. When somebody throws a punch, reinforce that area and put everything into it. The people in MTG are equally as terrifying as you are. You'll probably be put into a ranking system based on your strength, speed, and intelligence. It's important to move slowly and don't push yourself to fight people stronger than you. You may have strands, but you're not invincible." Mom said to me. She helped me up to my feet and asked me if I had a headache at all, to which I responded with a 'no'.

"Let's see... I know Shike, Belle, and Alexia all have some interesting abilities, so don't undermine them either." Mom told me.

"In MTG, will I see them often? Will I work together with them?" I asked her. Mom nodded.

"You won't ever lose those friends. They're going to be with you until the day you die. You'll probably go on missions with them and such... but, I have no way of knowing. It doesn't matter, you all will probably share a dorm as well, so expect that as well." Mom told me. I was excited to see them again. This was the longest I've gone without seeing them, so I was just anticipating our journey to MTG.

"Well! We'll have to make you an outfit. Have any ideas?" Mom asked me. I shook my head. I knew about the outfit, but I had no idea what I wanted to wear.

"Well, let's see. I think a dark color will contrast well with your strand color. Maybe we should have you wear some sort of black... I think that would be best." Mom said. She pulled out spools of thread and held them against my blue shirt.

"Hmm... yeah, this shade. Want any specific designs?" Mom asked me. I shook my head.

"You can choose for me. What did you wear in the past?" I asked her.

"Well, I used to wear a lilac purple cloak that had short sleeves. Let's see... wow, it has been a while. I used to use my legs in combat as well, so I had pointy shoes and knee pads that packed that extra bit of punch I needed, but I never wore combative clothing like armor. Never needed to." She told me.

"Then that's what I want to do as well... but I won't need knee pads. I want to just go in with everyday clothing so people misjudge my defense. That would be smart... right?" Mom nodded and went to sew up some clothing I could wear.

"Midnight blue with black lining, that'll be your cloak. Behind your cloak, you will hide your saber or any other tools you'd want to bring with you. Understood?" I nodded.

After about an hour, Mom fashioned a nice blue and black cloak for me to wear and it fit almost perfectly to the seam. I could move my arms in a full range of motion and nothing limited me. "It's perfect!" I shouted out in excitement.

"Alright, then that's all I can do for your entrance exam. Do you need me to walk you there? I'll get my coat." My mom said. She was awfully adamant about bringing me to the exam... but I guess it was just a Mom thing I didn't understand. I let her get her coat and stepped out of the front door.

Now, I had a goal in mind that wouldn't escape from my reach. I would get into MTG today and pass with flying colors, stopping at nothing less than the top of my class.

"Come on Sky!" Mom said to me. She seemed even more excited than I did.
