MTG Entrance Exam: Shike VS Mitra!

I sat down beside Belle and Alexia, watching Shike jump out of the stands and onto the field. This was interesting... this guy was one of Buusu's friends that looked at me with a frown.

"So, you're one of the Asterio's friends?" The man said.

"It's Shike, actually, and yeah, I am. Nice to meet you." Shike held out his hand to greet the man, but he refused. He had a stupid haircut and blue eyes like Shike and me. He just looked annoying to be around.

"Don't be mad when I kick your ass," Shike told the man. He clicked his tongue and turned his back.

"Now introducing the next two fighters! Shike-" Zach's voice became blurred to me for some reason... I could see his mouth move, but my surroundings went completely silent like I lost my hearing.

"Sky? You alright?" Belle asked me. I heard her voice and everything turned back on again.

"Yeah, I'm good," I told her. That was weird, that hasn't happened before.

"Begin!" Zach shouted out. The boy apparently named Mitra was Shike's opponent, and he still didn't look happy at all. I had no idea why that group seemed to hate us, but they definitely had the strength to compete.

Mitra rose his left hand and tilted his palm at Shike. Shike, weirdly, had a shield in his right hand and a sword in his left hand. I thought he wanted to use a different weapon, but it didn't matter as Mitra shot a spear of water at Shike. I was astonished that he could use water.

When that spear of water hit Shike's shield, however, it dispersed into... STRANDS?!

Something seriously wasn't right with that group of people... they all had strands as well?!

The spear itself didn't damage Shike at all, but that didn't matter as Mitra still used it as a distraction and came in from under Shike's raised arm. Using a thin sword, Mitra smiled.

"Sorry Shike looks like the fight is over for you," Mitra said as he closed the distance.

Shike dropped the shield and smiled. "Yeah, that is unfortunate, isn't it?" He asked Mitra.

Mitra slammed his sword into Shike's stomach, but nothing happened? The sword hit his stomach and just became... stuck.

"Oh, I forgot, you should watch out for my ability," Shike said with a smile.

A loud noise, like a cracking noise, erupted from the middle of the stadium, sending Mitra ten feet in the air and backward all the way to a deployed wall at the end of the stadium. Upon impact, Mitra spat up blood and fell to the ground unconsciously.

"Shike wins!" Zach announced. His assistant ran over to Mitra's side and Buusu gave me an ugly look again.

"I object!" Somebody called out. I looked over into Buusu's group and watched a girl with leather clothing raise her hands up.

"An objection? Well, this is a rare case, but I'll allow you to plead your case." Zach said. The crowd started to murmur again, which created an interesting atmosphere.

"I think Shike cheated." She said.

"Well, Ms. Naomi, can you prove that in any way?" Zach asked her. Naomi was her name... she looked annoying as well. I felt bad making fun of Buusu's friends like that, but they looked like stereotypical bad guys I would see in comics.

"Shike can't be hit, which means he can't take damage, how are we supposed to fight somebody who can't take damage?!" Naomi asked Zach. He sat and pondered there for a moment.

"Who says I can't take damage? Maybe your friend is just stupidly weak." Shike smirked. I felt bad, but even I laughed at that.

"Maybe you're right. So, you wouldn't mind fighting four of us at once, would you?" Naomi asked Shike. He shrugged with another smug smile.

"That's what you think it'll take to bring me down? Zach, I want to do this, and I want to be placed in the highest rank in exchange." Shike told Zach.

"I'll allow it, but if any of you go too far, Ali and Lucas are allowed to get involved." My mom and dad stood up with a fiery look in their eyes.

"I didn't know you could do this," I said to them.

"It's rare, but not unheard of. If they go for a killing blow, I'll get between them." Mom said. Dad was laidback about it, just following Mom's lead.

"How would you get there that fast?" I asked Mom.

"You have no idea how fast I truly am. Just pay attention, your friend is about to take on four people at once, this is bravery." She told me.

Buusu, Naomi, Mitra, and one other man gathered all around Shike.

"Wouldn't it be sad if you guys lost? Don't make this too easy on me." Shike dropped his sword and shield, holding out his fists as if he was going to get into a boxing match. I turned to Belle and Alexia.

"What is he doing? Is he really that strong?" I asked, but they seemed just as dumbfounded as I did.

The four people charged into Shike and he blocked two of their strikes with an open palm, absorbing all of the momentum... he just received the hit, and Naomi sat there dumbfounded as she looked into his eyes. Shike winked and launched Naomi back with the same force as he did with Mitra. From his back, Buusu slashed downward with her katana and tore some skin up. That was the first time I had seen him bleed.

Shike winced in pain and turned around to look at Buusu, but she moved elsewhere with her fast speed. Not even I could keep up with her movements, yet Shike had to battle four of them at once?! What was he thinking...

Shike seemed to take another hit from two people at once, then launched the two that didn't attack far away from his position. He punched Buusu in the throat, and even her fast speed couldn't dodge it. Afterward, Shike grabbed onto Mitra's shoulders and sent him bouncing off of the ground again. The four students fighting Shike all stood from a safe distance and looked at him in disbelief.

"Are we done yet?" Shike asked. He was being smug again, but I could tell he was getting tired. What was his ability? It acted like mine in a sense, where I could absorb hits and not take any damage... but he was reflecting the force of the hits he received. How in the world could he do that? Did he possess strands as well? What was the truth of those weird things?

I had an infinite number of questions, but Zach called for the fight to stop. I stopped thinking completely. Buusu and her friends looked even more irritated than before, and Shike walked off with a smile.

Zach declared that Shike would be in the same category as Buusu and I, both in A-Rank.
