I woke up again groggy and finally confirmed that it was the morning. I walked out of my room and I happened to be the first one awake, so I decided to make some breakfast for everybody.
The fridge was almost empty, but I was able to cook up something I hadn't in a while.
Flipping fried eggs in a pan and sizzling the bacon on the pan next to it, I felt right back at home. I hadn't used a pan in so long, and just used skewers to eat rabbits and squirrels and whatever else Illya and I came across.
I felt like I almost lost my touch when it came to cooking, but I was able to successfully cook enough for everybody to eat and left it on the table.
It was out of order, but I finally got dressed afterward, and slowly but surely, the smell of breakfast in the morning woke everybody up.
I buttoned my shirt and greeted everybody as they walked outside.
"Sky, did you make this? You're the best!" Alexia said, slowly waking up as she got closer to the food. She sat down and basically ate all of it in a little amount of time.
"Glad to see you enjoyed it. Good morning guys, good morning Rui." I said again to him. This time, it was actually morning, so it held up better.
"Hey." He said shortly. I chalked it up to him just waking up and not knowing what was going on. I handed him his plate and walked toward the door.
"Where are you going so soon?" Shike asked me as everybody turned their heads toward me.
"To talk with my Mom. Rui, make sure these guys don't blow up the house." I said with a wink. He seemed a lot happier and agreed to my request before I quickly left.
I opened the door at the same time as Myth and Mitra and greeted the two as well.
"Where are you guys going?" I asked the two. They were going to the same place as me. They wanted to know what they could do to help since Boo had been working so relentlessly and they wanted to pay her back.
"Perfect, I'll join you guys. I want to talk to my Mom as well." I said, following them on their journey. We walked down the hall and each of the glass steps. I had bad memories walking down them, remembering Richie and Dyna as we came to the bottom and walked outside, past the black fence bordering each of the dorms.
"What's the plan for today? Do you want to go do something fun?" Myth asked Mitra, putting his hands behind his head and stretching.
"Depends what your definition of fun is. Sky, what about you? What do you like to do for fun?" Mitra asked me.
"Geez, I'm not really sure. I haven't gone out and done anything in over two years now. I guess if you two are inviting me, I'd be happy with whatever." I stated. I walked behind them on the sidewalk because I didn't want to intrude, but both Mitra and Myth slowed down to let me catch up. I found it funny. If I told them we were really good friends when we first began at MTG, they wouldn't have believed me at all.
"We'll have some fun! We'll go after talking with Miss Asterio. Is she up in Zach's old office?" Mitra asked. I had no idea, so I shrugged, and we went anyway.
"Miss Asterio! Do you have a second?" Myth asked for us. Mom greeted me with a hug and answered the request of Mitra and Myth.
"We'll find something. Don't worry about it, for now, just go have fun. And hey, remember, the only reason it's so leisure right now is that Sky and Illya just returned. Take advantage of me while I still let you!" Mom said, waving the three of us off.
"Your mom is so cool Sky! Okay, let's go have some fun!" Mitra yelled out, running out of Mom's office and down the stairs. However, when we opened the door to the courtyard... it was foggy?
"Wow, that happened fast, huh?" Myth commented on it.
We slowly walked through the thick fog that blocked our line of sight completely until we reached the fountain.
"What the hell is this stuff?! Did a cloud plummet on top of us or something? Why is it so intense?!" Mitra asked, swiping the cloud away. I followed in his footsteps until we cleared a small area.
It wasn't filling back in, but how did the fog even get here?
"Sky?!" I heard Rui's voice, asking where he was so I could meet up with him. What was he even doing outside alone right now?!
"Rui! Hey, where are the others?! Are they with you?!" I asked, running over to his voice. Mitra and Myth followed right behind me.
"The others...? Oh, them. You know, Sky. I think I remember my parents now. They were really nice people. Those who would take care of me just as kindly as you did. They were really wonderful people, but as all things must come to an end, so did they." Rui began. He was much more fluent now... it was kind of shocking.
"Sky, why is that kid talking like a scholar? He's being super weird right now." Mitra commented. Myth and him held their ground and suspicions and slowly reached toward their weaponry.
"Guys, he's young! There's no need for all that. So, Rui, you mentioned your parents died? That's fine, we'll still welcome you with open arms to A-Ranking Dorms!" I told him proudly.
"Do you mean that place you took me to? Oh... you can't see, can you?" Rui asked me.
In an instant, the smoke cleared... yet the field was filled with more smoke. I could just barely see Rui's shoe on a tall rock near our burnt-down dorm.
"HEY! Where is everybody?! Rui!" I yelled at him for the first time, not worrying about how rude I was being. How did it even burn down so fast?! We were gone for a maximum of ten minutes!
"I appreciate your hospitality... but you shouldn't be so open to saving strangers, especially in Rubeki territory," Rui said with a low voice. My heart sunk down into the depths of my stomach as the smoke blew from his position and revealed bright red eyes, and a black, smoky body.
Rui was a Rubeki?!
Hospitality is the one thing that set you humans apart from us. You are such a dim-witted species. But no worry... I still, luckily, have one last parent that I can call over. Would you like me to? Maybe she can save your species, just as I have begun to do." Rui claimed.
His jaw unhinged like some manic horror character, going all the way until it looked like he could swallow a watermelon whole. Mitra and Myth unsheathed their weaponry as the cry came out of Rui's throat.
"PROVIDENCE!!!!!!"
