Empress of Light

As I grabbed onto Soul's hand, letting her Essence pour into me, my wounds and doubts cleared. I thought that, similar to Sky's takeover with Wrath, I would be locked out of my body, but through her movements, I was with everyone. I worked synonymously with her, instead of giving her full control.

The Essence Strands encapsulated my body with the help of Soul, and I noticed a emittance of light over my body. It was warping my appearance.

A voice came from my throat that was not my own.

"Finlis...my love...it's been so long..." The voice muttered. It was feminine compared to my own, and it appeared to relate to Finlis closely.

"Nova...? I thought you died...you're here?" He muttered. He was stunned by the appearance I took. I kept my mouth shut, so as to not ruin Soul's plan.

"Don't worry, I faked my death so I could escape with you. Now, with your father Arthur gone, we can leave together and get away from this mess." Soul told him.

She held out her hand in a similar way she offered to me, and Finlis took it.

As soon as he clasped his hand down, Soul let out a wave of light that bent around us and severed his right arm.

Before Finlis could regenerate it, Soul held out her hand once more, pointing her palm at the sky.

[Soul Trap: 1/6]

I saw the words in my eyes and noticed the arm on Finlis wasn't regenerating at all.

"You tricked me?!" He shouted. He dove backward, sliding on the ground as a green padlock symbol appeared on the shoulder of his missing arm.

"You play off the fear of others. Faith Asterio was one of your victims, along with over two thousand women who had gone missing between the time you awoke and now. Nine months of suffering and unexplained mysteries is what kept your grip on the world so tight." Soul said. She began to walk down the small hill he dove down, creating a light circle with her finger in the air.

"As the Empress of Light, I notice a lot of stuff that goes on in the Earth. I see all, even more than the Eye of Providence does. I see the blood you bathe in." Soul admitted. I was confused, following in her steps as she inched closer to Finlis.

"You rule with fear, yet fall so easily to the same limiting emotions you've forced onto other people. I was made to counter people like you, to block people from the Apex Predator standing." Soul explained further. She was quite the talker.

Metal plating appeared on my skin and the space between had a red glow to it, illuminating the field around Finlis.

"You don't think I can make you afraid of my presence either?" Finlis shouted. His jaw unhinged, wildly sharp teeth leaked out of his mouth and his snake-like tongue swirled saliva in his mouth in front of Soul, who's expression remained latent.

"I think I've seen scarier things than you." Soul said with a straight face. Her smile vanished as Finlis warped behind her with his teeth extended.

She allowed him to sink his teeth into her shoulder, rapidly ripping the flesh, bone, and nerves into a mangled mess of blood and innards. He jumped from her body with pieces of skin stuck in his teeth, flying around in the wind as he smiled.

Soul, on the other hand, let the injury course through her body and negated the feeling of pain. It felt like a light pressure to me as I watched my body become disfigured. In a fraction of a second, the light refracted around her position and instead of flapping skin in Finlis's mouth, it became chunks of metal that were so sharp it pierced his jaw and forced his mouth to be stuck.

"Hey, was that part of your plan too?" Soul asked him sarcastically.

Finlis forced his jaw open and spit the metal out onto the floor, panting with a frown filling his face.

"I must ask you, Finlis, do you plan to have final words at all, or is it going to be a mystery?" Soul asked once more. Finlis frowned, healing his head of the wounds inflicted. The light refracted around Soul and Finlis immediately turned his head, slashing behind him with the sickle. Instead, Soul meagerly walked up to his backside from her old position and placed her hand onto the back of his right leg.

[Soul Trap 2/6]

"Impressive speed! For nothing, of course. Hey, Finlis, is that...a building?" Soul pointed over his shoulder and the light refracted once more, causing Finlis to drop his weapon and prime his arm, as if he could actually lift the building.

Several needles were sent into his joints and he collapsed to the ground. Soul smiled and crouched down beside his prone body. When she looked up at the building, he smiled, as if it would hurt her.

Soul lifted her pinky finger and held the entire falling building up with ease. His eyes warped in fear after she turned her head back to him. Finlis was...afraid?

"That's more like it. That face of warped fear, it looks really, really good on you, Finlis." Soul said. She placed another hand on his opposite leg and another padlock appeared, locking the ability to regenerate from Finlis.

He was now without all limbs besides a left arm.

"Ah, now that that's settled, we can finally get back to the task at hand." Soul said.

Prying the spear from Ra's hands as he stood in still surprise, Soul telekinetically forced it into her hands and slammed it into the dead center of Finlis's chest.

"Apologize."

"NEVER!" He said. He was desperate, looking for a way out.

"Can't say I didn't try then." Soul said vaguely.

[Twilight Deadshot]

From the atmosphere, thousands of green strands materialized into what looked like needles, and were forced into Finlis's body, piercing him so many times that it looked as if he were deflated by the very end of the attack. Soul stood triumphant over Finlis as his eyes turned dark, losing his grip on his life.

"Goodbye to the last remaining Vega's." She smiled.
