In Which She’s in a Hurry

She sighed in exasperation and disillusionment as she shrugged her shoulders and cast her gaze downward while thinking, "This isn't working."

After giving things some thought, she ultimately decided to get up and start walking away. She needed the jewelry, and she also longed to spend more time with John, have more meaningful conversations with him, and possibly share something private about herself with him.

She paused for a time to gaze back at the bed where, only a few hours previously, she had grieved uncontrollably because not only had everyone and everything been taken away from her, but it was him. She took a moment to pause and stare at the bed.

It was John who held onto her, and in some strange way, that was the only thing she wanted, to have someone hold onto her. John was the only one who held onto her.
