Since he had no understanding why he had tolerated her behavior in the first place, he also had no notion why he continued to do it in the years that followed. He just didn't understand why he did it. He simply could not explain his actions to himself. It is probable that she was poisoned not too long ago, and that is the reason why she was crying so much earlier in the day. This would have occurred not too long after she had been poisoned. This can be deduced from the fact that she was crying for a significant portion of the day earlier on. Because of this, there is a possibility that the most recent episode that occurred with her did not involve her being poisoned. There are a number of factors that contribute to the existence of this possibility, one of which is the fact that there is a chance that she was poisoned.
