The males started nodding their heads in agreement to what was being said, showing that they agreed with what was being spoken by suggesting that they agreed. 

As a direct consequence of this fact, it gave the impression that they were in agreement with what was being expressed.

As she stood there in the room with her heart pounding and her palms sweating heavily, she had the definite sense that, for the very first time in her whole life, she was being protected by another individual. 

This was the first time in her life that she had ever experienced this. It was the very first time in her whole existence that she had ever experienced the emotions that she was feeling right at this precise moment. 

It was the very first time that she had ever experienced any emotions at all. 

She could count on one hand the number of times in her entire life that she had even briefly experienced this sensation. She had only done so a handful of times.
