Chapter 9

The bell rang for the second round, All hope was already lost, Aviva already returned to her room, Ariana sat hopelessly waiting for the end of the duel and the appointment of Liam as her personal knight.

Liam started the fight with recklessness this time, thinking Rendell was weak, Unknown to him how powerful Rendell actually was. In few minutes, Liam was on the ground and outside the circle, Rendell won the second round with little effort, he was carefully not to inflict severe injures on Liam.

It was a tie, everybody was shocked how powerful Rendell became in only few seconds. Ariana hope was back to life. She raised her head up again and smiled brightly at Rendell. The kind of smile that made Rendell forget he was losing his freedom and made him want to kill just to keep that smile on her face.

Alpha Cassius wasn't happy, so he ordered another round of duel. This time, Liam came prepared but still he was no match for Rendell. just like the second round in few minutes, Rendell won again. There was an opera and Rendell was declared winner, Ariana was so happy that she ran and hugged Rendell.

As Ariana hugged Rendell, it felt like the time came to a halt and all they could feel was their happiness and warmth, For the first time, Allian became proud of himself. Alpha Cassius didn't like the outcome, he was disappointed at Liam but since Rendell had proven to be worthy, he was more than glad to entrust his daughter into his hands.

The appointing ceremony was held, and Rendell became the personal knight of Ariana and it was known to all. Aviva was also happy, that she ran and hugged Rendell also. For no reason, Ariana got angry with Aviva's actions but she didn't say anything.

Rendell was so happy he did what he did seeing how happy it made Ariana.

"You did well" Aviva said. "At least you know well not to disappoint your benefactor, but that doesn't mean I like you" Aviva added. Rendell smiled, he already knew he wouldn't be accepted so easily by everyone and he wished he wasn't.

"Thanks Rendell" Ariana said to Rendell.

"I should be the one thanking you. Thank you for saving my life" Rendell said.

"You also saved my life, let call it even" Ariana said.

"What you did is far from being even" Rendell said and Ariana smiled happily at him.

"Why so happy, it is just a personal knight, not something big, everyone has a personal knight" Belinda, Ariana step sister said mockingly.

"Mother, sister" Ariana bowed and greeted.

"Keep your greetings to yourself, I don't need it" Badra, Alpha Cassius' mate and Luna said.

"I pity the poor knight, so handsome and skillful, only to be stuck with a curse" Belinda said.

Rendell was not happy with the way this conversation was going. There were actually the devils, Aviva talked about. But what he couldn't get was why Ariana was so quiet and the nagging Aviva speechless.

"I actually don't see it as being stuck, but as a privilege to serve her highness, And if you would excuse us, her highness needs rest" Rendell said.

"Who are you to speak back at me" Belinda said in anger raising her hand to hit him.

"I am Princess Ariana's personal knight, and I wouldn't do that if I was you, the outcome may not be good" Rendell said.

"Drop your hands" Badra instructed Belinda. Rendell smirked and left holding Ariana's hand as they returned to Ariana's chamber.

"You were so cool out there, I think I am beginning to like you" Ariana said giving Rendell thumbs up.

"You shouldn't have replied Linda, Now you have gotten yourself on her bad sides, our clash is none of your business" Ariana said looking worried.

"I am your personal knight, Your enemies are my enemies and your ally are my ally and your safety my priority, That is my oath to you which I swore to keep and I don't mind being on the bad side of some evil princess, trust me I can handle them" Rendell assured Ariana.

"But.." Ariana said.

"No but. They can't keep bullying you, you have to stand up for yourself, and now you have me, I am your personal knight. This must change now" Rendell said.

"That the spirit, we are going to show those devils who is boss" Aviva said. "You must be tired and hungry, I will show you to the Knight's room, and go prepare dinner" Aviva said and left with Rendell.
