She trembled, staring up at me. Her nerves betraying her.
Why had she thought she could get away with this? She reeked of the vile herbs in the tea. The sweetness of the poison that would rob me of my future, and the bitterness that would protect her.
Peeling away from her, I picked up the pot of tea, sloshing it around and letting the sickly sweet aroma rise. "Treasure, we'll start simple. Just know that for every lie you give me, your fate will be so much worse. I let you off easy last time. Don't mistake my kindness to you for weakness, you won't like the results. Do you know what this is?" It took everything inside of me to not fling the pot at the wall.
