Escape From You

Rye's eyes then narrowed over to the erected wall, and Lucian watched her back as she walked over to the place. Standing behind that erected wall was a young man, and when that intimidating gaze of Rye fell on him, his eyes widened.

He stumbled backwards at getting caught, and Rye grabbed on to camera in his hand, effortlessly pulling it from his grip. The young man went pale due to Rye's imposing presence.

Rye then took out the memory and dropped the camera on the ground before focusing on Lucian. Taking this as the opportunity, the man scurried away, not bothering to care about the camera that was stepped on by Rye.

The dangerous aura Rye emitted made the man fear for his life.

Pressing down on the camera with her feet, Rye smiled and said, "Don't be this sloppy from next time. It gives me the impression that you're not serious about escaping me."

Lucian chuckled at her words and lifted his hand to show the mark she made. With that, he walked over to her and stared down at her. His eyes held a twinkle to them.

"You are not wrong on that. I don't want to escape from you anymore."

At that, Rye extended her hand and hugged his waist, resting her face on his chest. This gesture from her made Lucian's eyes widen for a second before arching his eyebrows.

Rye yawned and stated, "That's good then. I am sleepy. Let me rest, alright? Lucian, I would never allow you to leave me."

With that, she blacked out.

Holding the luggage in one of his hand, the handsome young man walked out through the airport terminal. His blond hair was styled neatly, and he removed his shades when he spotted the woman.

There was a hint of smile on his face. Although the man gave off a friendly impression, that was only on the surface, and those cunning eyes of his would make the perceptive ones feel unsettled.

He stopped in front of the elegant woman.

Charlotte leaned against the wall. Her manicured fingers that were on the phone paused, and she lifted her head.

"To what do I owe the honor of having of the legendary Ms. Charlotte pick me up?"

Despite the lighthearted tone, it sounded imposing.

Charlotte stood up straight and said, "You very well know the reason I am here. What do you think of the proposition I sent you?"

Interest showed in the blond man's eyes.

"After that long journey, I am exhausted."

Charlotte arched her eyebrows and smiled.

"I guessed you would be. That's why, I chose a perfect place to replenish your energy."

"I would rather take a warm bath at my home first."

"Are you trying to infuriate me now, Damien?" Charlotte questioned, glaring at the man.

Damien remained unfazed and started to walk. Charlotte followed after him, and he spoke out, "Aren't you inconsiderate and impatient? You need the help. Shouldn't you show your sincerity more instead of trying to push me around?"

This made Charlotte grab on to his collar and stare at Damien with amusement.

The mock was clear as day in her tone as she expressed, "I need the help? What is this false sense of superiority you're having? Do you really believe I am clueless about your obsession? Why you returned?"

This made Damien's eyes darken.

"Now, follow me to the restaurant. You're forgetting that you're the one with the weakness here."

Damien's jaw tightened. Even though intense emotions brewed up inside him, he concealed them all and voiced out, "I understand."

Waking up, Valerie yawned and sat up on the bed. Just as she was about to remove the blanket off of her, memories flooded in her mind, and she paused. She recalled being invited to Lucian's home and then…

Her eyes widened at the realization.

Rye showed up.

Valerie bit down on her lips. Her nails dug into her palm, and she got up from the bed. Those emotions inside her ran turbulent, and she slapped her hand against the lamp on the table.

Everything crashed down, creating a loud noise.

Valerie then opened her drawer and took out the gun. Pointing at her head, she was ready to pull the trigger when the door to her room pushed open. Leslie grew alert at what Valerie was about to do and rushed over.

She instantly held Valerie's hand to prevent her from acting recklessly and said, "What are you doing, Valerie!?"

Valerie's tone was cold as she spoke out, "Last time. This was the last time."

Leslie's lips trembled at Valerie's words. The previous time Rye appeared, Valerie was determined to end her life, but Leslie begged the woman to give herself one more chance. Valerie loathed Rye's presence and would do anything to destroy that side of hers even if it resulted in her killing herself.

"Valerie, please don't be impulsive."

Raw emotions of Valerie showed in her voice. The woman was about to almost crumble down.

"Impulsive? It had been ten years, ten years since…" Valerie couldn't bring herself to continue.

Desperately, Leslie tried to change her mind.

"I promise you that Rye didn't do anything wrong this time. I kept an eye on her the entire time. You got engaged with Lucian, and that is all."

This made Valerie pause.

"Engaged?"
