Overprotective Behavior

Even though Valerie calmly sat on her bed, showing no expression on her face, Leslie couldn't help but feel nervous. Her emotions were very much unstable now, and this made Leslie feel as though she was walking on eggshells.

In her hand was her phone, and she went through the articles posted about the engagement. Paparazzi and reporters gathered out of the apartment complex, waiting for Valerie to step out, so that they could catch her.

Fans online were rioting over it, and because of Lucian's title as the nation's heart-throb, there was no way they could be peaceful about it. Valerie went through the fan groups, and their vicious plans made her narrows her eyes.

Some fans of Lucian were too obsessed.

Valerie dialed a number, and once the other side received the call, she ordered, "Have the security around Lucian strengthened. And have the PR deal with the matters online. Anyone showing disturbing behavior is to be warned. If they continue despite that, suspend their accounts and have lawsuit sent over to them."

With the instructions given, Valerie stood up. In her mind, only thoughts on Lucian roamed. She had to see him to safety. The man could be incredibly reckless, and Valerie was sure that he still hadn't realized the severity of the situation.

Her phone lit up due to notification she received, and she checked the screen. The coordinates for Lucian's location was sent to her. He was currently in Utopia's main office.

Valerie started to form ideas on how to get this under wraps, and upon seeing how her friend was on the verge of panicking, Leslie grabbed on to her shoulder in her attempt to calm the frantic Valerie.

"Everything will be fine, Valerie. Lucian is a grown man. He can take care of himself," Leslie voiced out, not surprised by how Valerie's overprotective behavior when it came to Lucian.

Valerie paused before glaring at Leslie with her bloodshot eyes. All the anxiety had caused her skin to turn pale.

"Will be fine? There are hundreds and thousands who are concocting these horrible plans. They want to scare him, kidnap him, hurt him." Just thinking about it was enough to make Valerie shudder.

"Come on, Valerie, these are simply fans being angry online. No one would bring these to real life," Leslie tried to reassure Valerie.

"No, they will really take actions. They always did. Every time he has a girlfriend, this happens. They send threatening letters or even try to endanger his life. This time too, I can't let them hurt him."

Just how far did Valerie go to protect Lucian?

Thinking about this brought back the terrible memory of when Lucian was stabbed by a crazy fan, and she couldn't let a repeat of that happen.

Leslie felt the urge to curse.

"This is all Lucian's fault. There would have been no need for worry about him if he had conscience and knew how to stay put," Leslie mumbled, "good-for-nothing indeed."

"At least arrange some bodyguards for you. They are out there, ready to devour you," Leslie said to Valerie who was about to enter the washroom.

°°°

In order to lay low for the day, Lucian was supposed to be at his apartment and out of internet. But it would be a surprise if he listened. As if wanting to provoke the raging crowd further, he posted a picture of him and his friends beside the pool.

Valerie suppressed in the emotions she felt when she saw a half-dressed woman standing close to Lucian. She took in a deep breath, reminding that there was no need for another episode of Rye, before driving off with her car.

Even though the pool party was held indoors, Valerie didn't trust the security of the place. However, instead of blaming Lucian for reckless, she pinned the blame on her head. He would have had the freedom to do whatever he wanted if it wasn't for her.

Her car stopped in front of the large mansion. The music boomed, reaching even outside, and Valerie was about to step out of the car when she noticed the paparazzi hiding behind the bushes attempting to sneak in.

At least there was some security at the front door.

It wouldn't take long for crowd to gather here. That's why, Valerie was quick on her steps by getting out of the car, and after showing off the invitation in her phone— that she received in a hurry due to some threatening done— she stormed into mansion.

Valerie's anger was towards herself and those nosy stalkers. The music got louder as she reached the back of the mansion, and her eyes then fell on Lucian. He had a white shirt on paired with shorts.

He was eye-catching as always, having the attention of the most. He had a teasing smile on his face as he conversed with the women. Even though he maintained a respectful distance, being mindful of his status, it still painted a wrong picture in one's eyes.
