Mocking

Lucian was indeed mad at his mother for keeping the abuse a secret for all these years. She knew about Valerie's condition well, and even if Valerie made her keep it a secret, it was not right of the woman to do so.

Although disappointed by the way his mother acted, he was too busy to bring up the matter to his mother, and no matter how immaturely he behaved, his mother was one person he couldn't act harshly with.

He wanted to hear from his mother on why she hid everything when he got the chance to do so, but who would have thought his mother was another person to make Valerie feel burdened?

"Not only once, but many times. I told her to protect your life with hers because this is what she owed to you. If she stayed away from you, none of this wouldn't have happened."

The more his mother told, the more he felt worse about it. Even if his mother wanted to protect him, this wasn't the right way to do it.
