Clearing doubts

It was almost midnight, but there were no signs of Kayden up until now. Disheartened, she knew that she had to give up on the chances of him showing up at this time.

Obviously, he wouldn't be listening to her straightway.

Just when she got up from the couch about to get ready for the bed, the sound of the doorbell ringing caught her attention, prompting her to rush towards the door.

She immediately opened it and saw Kayden standing on the other side. This instantly brought a wide smile on her face, but then his indifferent expression made her feel as though she had overreacted.

She cleared her throat and said, "You are here."

He nodded.

Then, she stepped away to allow him space to enter into her apartment. Once he stepped in, he coldly asked, "What did you need?"

"We will get to that later. Did you eat?" She locked the door behind her while uttering those words.

"No," he answered.
