Fire and ice ring

"Not as bad as you being a perverted kidnapper. And I don't think you need to make a public announcement anymore." Jackson chuckled and continued with his gossip report giving them the short version but not missing any of the articles that had started circulating on the internet.

"There's a video on the internet of your proposal last night. Now everyone is talking about Lexi's engagement ring. Jackson informed them even holding his own hand up in front of them giving his fingers a little wiggle. "Oh yeah, There's even a close up picture of you putting it on her finger ."

"What's wrong with my ring ?"Lexi ask, slightly confused she pulled her beautiful engagement ring up in front of her eyes to take a good look at the deep red stone and the exquisite design. Everything about it looked perfect to her the stone was nether too big or too small it looked just right for her active lifestyle. And the elegant design made the ring stand out enough to wear with the most lavish evening gowns. It also reminded her of Alex's heartfelt proposal bringing a smile to her lips.

Not knowing what might be circulating on the internet about Lexi's ring at the moment Alex took her hand that she had raised bringing it between them quickly explaining the reason people may be gossiping about it . He also took the opportunity to explain the reason he chose this particular ring for her. " Sweetheart your ring isn't a thousand year old family heirloom that ring is still on my mother's hand. And that might be one reason for the gossip, I'm sure some of the people out there believe the only engagement ring you should be given is the one from the Eddington Crown Jewels. But your ring is very special it's only about sixty years old and it belonged to my grandmother she gave that ring on her death bed. It has a four carat flawless red diamond . Sweetheart a red diamond is like you very rare they are the rarest diamonds in the world. But that's not the only reason I chose this ring for you. This ring is the fire and ice ring my grandmother was in love with the poem fire and ice by Robert Frost . My grandfather traveled to Australia in search of this red diamond he also took my grandmother to a poetry reading by Robert Frost for her birthday just to give her this ring. However sweetheart that still wasn't enough for me to choose this ring for you."

Still gawking at him confused ,Lexi murmured "I remember the fire and ice poem by Robert Frost from my literature class. It's about the end of the world." After recollecting the poem she looked more confused then ever stared at Alex with her brows knitted tightly together.

Seeing her confused look Alex couldn't help but tease her a little. "Sweetheart , didn't you pay attention in class " he winked and continued his teasing, "maybe you were daydreaming about that smokin hot king again."

" Maybe" she giggled and puckered her lips to blow him an air kiss.

Alex laughed at her antics, then cleared his throat to explain the meaning of the words in the poem. "Sweetheart the key words in the poem fire and ice have a metaphorical sense, fire is compared to desire and ice is compared to hatred. But it represents us perfectly, the red diamond stands for passion and desire. Sweetheart my passion and desire for you is endless."He murmured touching the top of the flawless red diamond with his index finger.

"And the white diamonds are ice in the poem .They represent hatred,something we both stand against. That is what brought us together to begin with. And that is reason, out of all the rings in the world I could choose from . This one I thought was perfect for you .But if you don't think it's the right ring we can get a different one."

"Alex, your going to make me cry. I love my ring it's beautiful ,and I love that you put so much thought into choosing my ring"she gushed as a lone tear fell down her cheek she confessed. "And I love you for your kind heart, and the way you make me feel so safe ,and special . Alex, I love you with all my heart."

Alex held her hand between his hands , pressing his forehead to hers as he kissed the tear away and took a deep breath. "And I love you sweetheart , I loved you before I ever held you in my arms. And I will love you until my last dying breath."

Jackson cocked a brow glancing up from his phone interrupting the love birds. "Damm you two are fucking sappy ."

"Go find you a wife ,you little bastard ."Alex growled

"I would but those Vampire bitches are cold hearted .Maybe if Lexi makes mother fall in love with her tonight, I will get me a hot little human girl too."

Jackson's comment made her realized why their mother was upset about her and Alex. She spun around facing Alex, bellowing out loudly " your mother hates humans ."

"Sweetheart let me explain everything to you. My mother wasn't always like that. When Jackson and I were small children we played with everyone vampires and humans . And my mother was fine with whoever we wanted to play with. She didn't get the way she is now until my father was killed by a hate group . He left the castle to go fishing one morning and never returned . When his body was found ,they had cut his heart out and nailed it to a tree. Now my mother is just like the people we wish to change. She blames all humans for what happened to my father. She thinks all humans are evil creatures."

Her heart sank and tears stung her eyes she stammered barely able to speak.

" O .. o . Oh Alex ,what are we going to do . I feel so sad for your mother. Will she not be able to love our children."

"Sweetheart maybe that can be our first step to changing our whole country , we can start with my mother. And I can't see my mother ever not loving her grandchildren. She loves me and Jackson very much. When we where small children she never let nannies or maids take care of us. She would make sure we had our meals, gave us our bath at night, and tucked us into bed. She did everything thing herself."

"We just need to heal your mothers heart. And hopefully she will grow to love me too and our children."

"Let's set a wedding date so we can have all these children you keep talking about."

She giggled , "Your the one with with the hectic schedule what is a good date for you?"

Pulling out his phone , he pulls up his schedule. Gazing deep into her eyes to make sure she had no doubts or fears.

"Three weeks from this Saturday ,July the ninth." He spouted

"Can we have a honeymoon ?" She swooned, batting he long eyelashes at him.

Jackson glared at the love birds grumbling., "do you expect me to go on your damm honeymoon too?"

" That reminds me what did you find out last night?" Alex ask, finely tarring his eyes away from the beautiful girl in his arms .

Alex and Lexi take a seat at the dining table, Alex takes his phone out and orders breakfast. The maid brings in the dark red wine in the silver goblets and Lexi's cola.

Jackson started telling Alex about everything he found out ."That bastard that attacked Lexi is part of a group called the night stalkers. They pray on young human girls, to gain more power. His name is Dallas Thompson ."

Alex leaned back in his chair , listening intently to what Jackson was saying and asking for his opinion about what happened last night ."Jackson do you think that guy attacked Lexi because he wanted to drink her blood and not because we are a mixed species couple "

" That's what it seems like to me Alex ,because the group he was involved in only attacks young human girls to drink their blood . That group has never been linked to any crime against a mixed couple "

"Did you find out how he got into Ray's last night?" Alex ask curiously,

"I looked at the guest list and talked to everyone in there, none of them admitted knowing that creepy bastard."

Alex narrowed his eyes, that shouldn't be possible, Ray's is an exclusive restaurant only for the wealthiest people in town, when you call to make a reservation they ask who will be accompanying you. Alex felt like something was terribly wrong.

"Did Ray know him? He questioned.

"Ray said he had never heard of him ."

"What else did you find out about him?"

"He liked hanging out with the old Aristocrats , the old blue bloods that still think humans should be used for food. And to keep their special powers. This group he was associated with is suspects in several missing person cases of young human girls"

"Is he from one of those older families?"

" I really don't know Alex ,but I did find out

He lived in a old abandoned castle that sits on a cliff outside of Schaumburg. I'll go there today and take a look around."

Lexi looked at him confused

"What do you mean more power?"

"Sweetheart vampires are born with special abilities, they are not all the same .Some may be able to read people's thoughts, some may be able to hypothesis some one by just looking into their eyes, some can cause illusions or distort reality."

Alex really didn't know what others could do but he rattled off a few of his abilities just to give her an example of what he meant by abilities "And these special powers can be enhanced by drinking human blood ."

Bonus: Recipe corn casserole

2cans cream corn

1 stick real butter melted

2 eggs

1 box jiffy cornbread mix

1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese

Spray 9x13 baking dishes with non stick spray. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl pour in baking dish [ back 375 about 45 minutes]
