Open minded

His eyes went wide at the sound that floated into his ears. This man wasn't human and neither was he a vampire. He glanced over at Alex, who had heard the same thing as he had .

Alex was left dumbfounded he couldn't believe his own ears.The man kept talking to him. The man's mouth moved but Alex was in such a state that he didn't hear what the man was even saying to him.

Finally the man stopped talking when he seen the dazed look on the king's face. He leaned forward to look at the King Closer. Concern and worry marred the man's face, and sounded in his voice when he called out to the King " Your Majesty are you okay, can I get you a glass of water."

Alex shook his head and blinked his eyes a few times to bringing himself out of the shock state he was in. And to double check, he ask the man to repeat himself, to make sure he wasn't imagining things.

" Excuse me Delaney ,did you just say that you have worked here 240 years."

" Yes, your Majesty." And I get my supplies once a month from a boat that comes from the main land. They are thoughtful enough to bring me a newspaper, that's how I recognized you." The man babbled on, to see the King still trying to come to understand what he just said.

Finally Alex clear his throat to ask the man the question they came to find the answer to. " Delaney, exactly where did you come from?"

" Your Majesty ,I hale from Clam Bay.

Alex echoed the man's words , "Clam

Bay ?" The words come out of his mouth in the form of a question .

" Yes, Your Majesty, A little fishing village on the coast of Elgin."

"Originally? Alex ask , to see the man nod his head. A little more confused, his brain started to wonder a little .He knows his grandmother didn't come from one of the towns or villages in Elgin his grandmother was a Princess. There has only been two Royal Families in the country for Centuries The Eddington's have always ruled in northern part of the country. And the Whitley have always ruled the Southern part of the country.

Pulling himself out his thoughts he continued to questions the man in front of him.

" Delaney, Do you remember grandmother ever mentioning where she came from?"

" Well yes. Your Majesty , Your grandmother came from Vital."

" Alex nodded his head, "Vital " he mummers softly.

" Yes, Your Majesty the Island of Vital "

Alex creased his brows , he peered over at the two damm geniuses he brought with him for a little help. He can see by their face's both of them are lost in though.

Alex is determined to get all of his questions out of the way. Continuing to ask Delaney the caretaker what's on his mind.

" Delaney , I have a question, actually I'm asking for my sister-in-law" Alex nods his head towards Karmen, to see the man look over in her direction, with a faint smile .

" Delaney, as you probably already know vampires have excellent hearing, and I have a feeling yours is no less."

" You would be correct, Your Majesty," the man respectfully replied.He set quietly waiting for Alex to ask him the question that's on his mind. Occasionally glancing over in Karmen's direction.

" Delaney, I'm not sure if you can tell or not but Princess Karmen is like my grandmother was, she is a mixed specie." Alex explained.

" Yes your Majesty, I noticed that when she first walked into the room. You see my hearing is slightly better than a vampire."

," I see," Alex hummus. " Delaney, you see Princess Karmen didn't know her parents.And I would like you to be thorough and tell her about your species."

The man glanced over at Karmen who appeared nervous , speaking directly to her.

" Princess Karmen, I don't exactly know what it is that you would like to know, but I will try my best. Our species isn't much different then a vampire except we don't need blood to live, and we age much slower.

Some would say we are immortal, however that is not true . We do heal quicker than a vampire from wounds and we never get sick but there are ways that a demon can die."

As the man was speaking, Jackson was listening to Karmen's heart nervously pound in her chest. Knowing her mind was going haywire trying to digest what the man was saying, he ask the man his own questions . " Delaney, you said demons don't drink blood like vampires is there something that a demon needs, as you can see Princess Karman is really thin, to the point that we worry about her health?"

" Yes, Your Royal Highness, I have noticed Princess Karmen is thin. Which I find unusual for a demon. We don't need blood like a vampire and we only eat food for enjoyment. Perhaps it has something to do with Princess Karmen being part witch."

Jackson and Alex both narrowed their eyes at the man, no one has told him Karmen is part witch, Karmen's heart beats just like a human. Remembering what the witch said about demons and witches being enemy's, Jackson pulled Karmen closer to him, curiously asking " Delaney, what makes you believe Princess Karmen is part witch.

" Your Royal Highness, I can tell you are, a little weary of me now, please don't be .It's not the demons who want to harm the witches. It is the witches who want to harm the demons,it is the same as it was with the humans and vampires. The witches are afraid of what they don't understand. And as a survival instinct demons can smell a witch. Thousands of years ago witches would put spells on potions that they had brewed to kill demons. I really don't know how your wife even came into existence, she is probably the first of her kind. I have never heard of a witch and a demon mating, usually demons only mate with other demons and occasionally with vampires and on very rare occasions a human. However I could be wrong ,as you know , I have been on this Island for several years now, it could be common now days . I do find it refreshing and a welcome change in the way of society, to know you and his Majesty are open minded and have both found your mate in different species."

Alex set quietly pondering over what the man just said, before he curiously ask.

" Delaney, Is it just your way of thinking and being open minded of the mixing of the species or is it all demons?"

"Your Majesty, demons are very open minded people, we hold no grudge or malice towards anyone. The only reason I believe most demons only mated with humans occasionally is because humans are very conservative in the matters of ... " the man's voice trailed off a bit glancing over towards Lexi and Karmen before he continued " pardon me ladies for saying this, " in the matters of desire. They just found it easier to mate with vampires, because of their similar way of thinking on this matter."

" Delaney, I apologize for keeping you up, and I thank you for speaking with us . I really would like to talk with you some more tomorrow. But if you would be kind enough to show use to a room I would really appreciate." Alex said
