Holding hands

After he ended his phone call with Alex he glanced down at Karmen to see she looked kinda spaced out. "Babe, are you okay, " He ask while snapping his fingers in front of her face.

She looked dazed her mouth was opened and she stared blankly at the tree that had fallen on the forest floor.

Blinking her eyes,she pulled her hand up and clutched onto his shirt .She felt a little dizzy and her knees had grown week. She laid her head on his chest her words came out like a stoned hippie "wow did I really just do that."

He scooped her up into his arms and carried her over to a big flat rock ,setting her down so that she could compose herself.

" Babe , are you hurt anywhere, or just a little shook up. He ask , sounding slightly worried , he pulled her shirt up searching her body for wounds and scratches , he looked at her back and raised her arms. He ran his fingers through her hair feeling around on her head for knots and bumps, just to make sure she didn't get hit with any limbs or branches when they flew through the air.

When he was sure she wasn't injured he squatted down in front of her holding onto both her hands he spoke calmly and tried to comfort her." Babe, are you shocked, and confused because you didn't expect this out come. Or are you feeling drained and tired. If you tell me how your feeling I can help you."

"I... I was just going to pick up the limb."

" You don't feel really tired like you need to go to bed?"

"No, but..but I knocked the tree down."

She stammered

He chuckled ,wrapping his arms around her, he brought her close to his chest rubbing his large hand up and down her spine ,relief wash over him, He was afraid she had exhausted herself and used to much of her power which could leave her ill and week for a few days.

" I know babe, it's okay, I know you didn't expect that to happen, but I thought it was pretty damm amazing. But that's the reason I told you not to practice chants when you're by yourself. Sometimes they don't turn out the way you expect."

Leaning back he pulled her chin up to look at him ,reassuring her what happened can happen to anyone. " Babe, I don't want you to stop trying to discover your powers and abilities because of this.

There good to have, I can emitted a seismic wave from the palm of my hand but when I first tried to use that ability I couldn't do it. I got so aggravated and pissed off ,when I finally figured out how to make it leave my palm I blew a big hole in the back wall of the castle, but I kept trying and learn how to control it."

" Really?"

" Yeah Babe, I assure you even Alex has had a few things turn out differently then he had planned, when he was learning how to use his abilities." He explained, rising to his feet he held his hand out to help her stand. Holding onto to her hand he started leading her back to the lake house .Chatted with her as they walked slowly together.

" Are you better now, remember Lexi's mom is cooking lunch for us."

Suddenly she stopped walking her eyes widened she sucked in a deep breath her hand flew to cover her mouth.

" What Babe?"

"What if everyone heard that tree fall over, what are we going to tell them?"

Chuckling he tugged her forward. Shrugging his shoulders " Come Babe, don't worry about that. Trees fall in the forest all the time, it's no big deal. Some fall because of insect infections or poor soil conditions ,some just get old and fall over. If they ask just say a tree fell. We shouldn't need to give anyone a explanation or a reason it fell. We have a lot of degrees between the two of us, but last time I checked neither one of us has a forestry degree."

" Why are you so perfect." She ask leaning over closer to him.

Chuckling he pecks the top of her head and tells her his theory , or the reason she would ever say or think something like that.

" I'm not Babe,I'm just perfect for you. Just like your perfect for me. I think that's part of being true mates."

"What? I thought being mates was just a chemical in the brain. "

" Babe, I believed that's just part of it, okay Take Lexi and Alex for example, she is a human and doesn't have a mating gene. But

there's no body more suitable for Alex."

Glancing over he seen she was thinking about what he was saying.

Nodding her head faintly, she verbalized her thoughts to him. " Okay, I think I know what you're saying, it's does seem that Lexi's and Alex belong together it's just something you can see when they walk into a room. And there's no one else in the country that either one of them could have trusted . I know for sure there's girls out there that would love to marry Alex just because he's a king. But Lexi's didn't need to marry a king."

"That's right Babe, And there's men out there that would sell their soul to marry Lexi for the same reason."

"Well what about us? What made you so sure I was your true mate. "She curiously ask him , instantly thinking she was going to regret her question when she seen the cocky grin on his face. But instead of teasing her like he normally does her gave her the answer she was looking for.

Other than the fact that I felt like I couldn't ever sleep again with out you in my arms . Or the fact that I didn't just want to fuck you. Don't get me wrong Babe, I love that more than anything in the world. But I also enjoy what we're doing right now. Just holding hands and having a conversation. And that's how I knew.
