Straight to the point

After telling Roxy she is quitting her job Harper found herself in the her car with King Evander by her side in the front passenger seat. She was nervous about telling her father and her grandmother that she was going to move to a different country to live with a man she just met two days ago. However hearing Lexi rave about her choice to move to Eddington castle put Harper's mind at ease somewhat. But she was still a bit apprehensive about not being Van's soulmate. She wondered just how much that would affect their relationship.

She listened carefully to everything he told her. Everything he said sounded quite reasonable. He said he didn't love her but that should be a given they just met and she doesn't love him either. He also said he found her worthy to give her his heart which should be a good thing. Because he is definitely worthy to have her heart. He's god awful handsome and a wealthy king with a gifted tongue that spouts out sweet words and makes her head spin. He also said he finds her very attractive, well that's good too. Because he is definitely handsome.

" Darling...Harper," King Evander called sternly to get her attention.

" Hum"

" Darling, would you like me to drive?" Seeing that she had already ran a traffic light and a stop sign.He thought it might be wise to offer. He's certain that he will live over the crash but he was concerned about her.

" Why"

He shook his head ."Oh my," he mumbled as he ran his hand through his dark hair. "Darling, you seem a bit distracted. I want you to pull the car over there. He said,as he pointed towards the curb.

When the car came to a stop he didn't move from the passenger seat as she expected him to do. Instead he turned in the seat to face her and began talking again.

" Okay Darling out with it. What's bothering you?" He ask ,coming straight to the point. He could simply read her thoughts but what's the point if she doesn't get everything out in the open to get answers in return.

" I was just thinking, that's all."

" About?"

"Huh, about everything."

"Like about what? Let me help you Darling. If you have something on your mind and it's bothering you, I want to know about. It's called sharing ,that's what couples do, they share their burdens with each other."

"Uh...well I was thinking about how I'm going to explain to my grandmother and my dad that I'm moving to another country with a man I just met."

"I see," he grinned, "Would you like me to tell your dad and grandmother that you're moving to my castle. I have no problem doing that, actually I feel like it's my responsibility to do so ."

" Yes, please do."

"I will most certainly do that. Now is their anything else bothering you?"

Sucking in a deep breath, she finally drawled out what had been bothering her " well... yes, It's... just...okay...you where married... and I'm not your mate."

"Oh, are you looking for your mate Darling?"he ask, with all the seriousness in the world.

" What? I'm not a vampire?she huffed

" Darling you don't need to be a vampire to have a mate. Didn't we just leave a wedding where a human Princess married a Vampire king." He reminded her.

She sighed, "That's not the point?"

" What is the point Darling? Go ahead tell me." He coaxed her

" okay it's just ...can you love someone else?" She blurted out

He chuckled, " Darling, I'm not really sure if I understand that question. Are you asking me to go find someone else beside you or are you asking if I can love someone beside my late wife."

" Will you ever be able to truly love me?" She ask straight up

He grinned, " Yes, and that! That is exactly what I want from you Darling. Straight to the point, no beating around the bush. Say what's on your mind baby girl." He praised loudly as he threw his hand in the air excitedly

" How?" She whispered

"How can I love someone else? It's simple Darling you love with your heart." Reaching over he took her hand and placed it on his chest, holding it in place with his for her to feel the steady rhythm of his heart beat."and my heart still beats Darling."He stated in a low tranquil voice.

"You need to drive" she mummers in a low voice. Immediately getting out of the car and going to the other side to trade places with him.

He pulled the car back onto the road and with in a few minutes they were setting in driveway of her house. King Evander walked to the passenger side and opened the door offering Harper his hand and they walked to the front porch where her dad was setting.

" Harper, Van" , Mr. Roberts greeted, happy to see Harper in the company of the polite young man that she had introduced to him last night as Van Weston. " Did you forget your work clothes sweetie?"

" No daddy" Harper replied, taking a seat beside him on the porch swing.

King Evander leaned against the porch railing facing Harper and her father with his legs crossed at his ankles and didn't waste a second going straight to the point of the reason they came here.

" Mr. Roberts, Harper and I are here to tell you that I will be going back to my country after Prince Jackson's wedding and I have ask Harper to come with me."

Mr. Roberts waved his hand in the air dismissively " It's nice for you to come here yourself Van to tell me, but there was really no need. Harper has already told me about her vacation plans. She's a grown woman now and I'm happy she has decided to take some time for herself she works to much."

"I'm happy to hear you say that Mr. Roberts I totally agree with you Harper works way to hard. She's an amazing young woman." King Evander praised "However Mr. Roberts that's not exactly what I came here to tell you. You see, I ask Harper to move to my country to make it her permanent residence and she has agreed to come with me." King Evander explained getting straight to the point.

" Mr. Roberts smirked, "Have the two of you checked on the immigration laws?"Turning to look at his daughter who was gazing down at her hands as she fiddled with her dress nervously. "Harper sweetie," Mr. Roberts called " If you're planning to go on a student visa your scholarship probably won't transfer."

Mr. Roberts, king Evander called gaining his attention. " About that I believe there's something I need to tell you."

" And what is that Van? If you're going to say the two of you plan to use a fiancées visa. Y'all may want to check the laws in your country that could take a long time."Mr.Roberts stated keeping a calm and composed expression. Something he has had a lot of practice doing while dealing with impulsive teenagers as a high school teacher.

"Fiancée" King Evander smirked glancing over at Harper briefly before continuing his conversation with her father. " Something on that lines Mr. Roberts. But you see Harper won't need a visa. Because when I told you she will be coming to my country I failed to mention the fact that technically I own that country."

" You own that Country?" Mr. Roberts ask confused with his tick brows pulled together.

" Yes, Mr. Roberts I'm King Evander Weston of Vital or more correctly Empire Evander Weston of Vital."

Mr. Roberts chuckled "Good one, you two had me going there for a minute."

" It's no joke daddy." Harper said as she handed him her phone with information about the country of Vital with King Evander pictured as Empire of Vital.

Glancing at the phone and back up at King Evander several times. Mr. Roberts stood and bowed at the waist " Your Majesty, I mean no disrespect but as a father I must ask what are your intentions with my daughter?"

" Please sit Mr. Roberts and I would appreciate it if you keep addressing me as Van." Before speaking again he waited for Mr. Roberts to set back down. " You see Mr. Roberts, l'm very found of your daughter she is a lovely young lady and I would like to continue my relationship with her. However as you can see" he pointed at Harper's phone that Mr. Roberts was still holding. "it's impossible for me to move here. But I came here to ensure you your daughter will be taken care of. She will be treated like my Queen. And as far as her education, she will be taking most of her classes on line and for anything that's not available on line. I will hire personnel tutors for her the same way Alexander received his law degree." Glancing over towards Harper he added, "Harper darling, we have a few hours before our flight unless you have something else we need to do I suggest we spend that time here with your family."

Mr. Roberts set dumbfounded in a trance like state as the information he just received swirled in his mind. His young daughter was moving to another country. He shook his head to bring himself back to the present. He needed to find out when she was leaving for her new life as exactly what, This man's girlfriend?, his fiancée? Surely not his mistress. Harper is a good Christian girl and she would never agree to be this man's mistress. Unable to control his curiosity he cleared his throat asking for clarification?

" Uh... Van all of that sounds wonderful however as a father I'm curious to know exactly what is the relationship between you and my daughter?"

King Evander smirked ,glancing over at Harper ," Mr. Roberts, That's a good question and one I'm unsure how to answer." Van replied, glancing back over at Harper hoping he can work with this fiancée angle. " I think Harper is a truly remarkable young lady and I would like to say she is my fiancée .However that would be inappropriate for me to say at this time. Because as you can see I haven't put a ring on her finger yet. And to be honest I'm afraid she would consider me to pushy and run away from me. Something I'm not willing to let happen. It took me quite a bit of persuasion just to get Harper to go on a date with me. So perhaps Harper can shed some light on that, I'm curious to know myself."

" Not fair!" Harper snapped, her voice loud and her emerald green eyes glaring at King Evander bringing her grandmother out of the house.

" Dear lord, what's all this yelling about"Her grandmother ask as she stood with her head peeking out the screen door.

"Nothing grandma" Harper replied waving her hand at her grandmother to go back into the house. However her grandmother didn't budge instead she glanced towards the two men on the front porch for answers. And king Evander was quick to provide her with one.

" Now Harper I wouldn't exactly call it nothing. Your father would like answers about our relationship. And I would love to put a ring on your finger in hopes that you would consider marring me in the near future." He grinned as he waited patiently for her to say something.

" Harper" her grandmother called, I believe this young man just ask you to marry him. Are you not going to give him an answer?"

" He doesn't have a ring grandma." Harper replied as she glared at King Evander wondered what he was up to.

" That's no problem Darling if you will accept to be my fiancée we still have time to go to the mall and get one. Your dad and grandmother can go with us that way you will be able to spend time with them before we leave."

" Your fiancée" she mumbled

" Yes Darling, technically a girlfriend and a fiancée are the same thing so please don't get all nervous about it. You can take all the time you need a long engagement is fine with me.
