Black Market (3)

"Christopher Lane" I spoke out loud.

Hearing that he raised his head.

"Yes sir, that is my name." He said while wiping his tears.

Then I had a clear look at his face.

He had clear blue eyes and a mole inside his right eye. And he'd gotten a cut on his left brow. Even though his face is pale, his eyes are razor-sharp, as if he is a predator waiting to be unleashed.

There is no denying it.

He is 'The Christopher Lane'.

Oh, my goodness. Not even in my wildest dreams could I imagine meeting someone of that stature.

"Hehe, It's very fascinating."

****

Christopher Lane.

He is a peculiar guy that will first appear in the third volume, but his domination will be revealed in the fifth. It's worth keeping an eye on how he renders the business world.

He's a character with a gloomy undertone to him. The manner in which he has seized control of the business world is genuinely terrifying. On his way to the top, he'll have to deal with a lot of blood and gore. It's a truly amazing story. Even though it was dodgy, I liked it a lot.

He, like all the other main characters, has a backstory that defines who he will become in the future.

His story begins with a sign of betrayal from his father's brother. He teamed up with a competing faction to assassinate him and his family in exchange for their property. In front of his eyes, his father and mother will be murdered. He is still alive because of the efforts of his butler, who gave his life to save him.

As a result, he ends himself on the black market, where he will study and hone all of his skills in order to rise to the top. When he had solidified his position, he went on a mission to avenge his family. He murders all of his opponents in a shocking manner. This is the story of an underdog who rose from the dirty black market to become the wealthiest man on the planet.

That was a fantastic story. It struck a chord with me in some way. It's difficult to accept a family member's betrayal for financial gain. I remember the hurt I felt when my father's brothers turned their backs on him and my grandparents. Maybe that's why his story resonated so strongly with me. I particularly enjoyed the scene in which he exacts vengeance on those scumbags.

Even way that's for the future.

Under my face mask, I was grinning.

One of the most crucial things of life was making connections. A person's future was frequently determined by both ill-fated and successful partnerships.

As this world is still in its early stage, there were many who were currently weak but would become prosperous in the future. The best way to get close to a famous person was to become friends before that person becomes famous.

In a manner, this is a jackpot.

The only thing that concerns me is how it will influence the story's flow. Not that I want to pass up this opportunity, but I want to make sure it goes in the proper direction. I want to make sure everything stays on track for as long as possible, or until I'm ready to deal with the changes. That is why I have reservations about this.

However, if I utilize him effectively, he will be a valuable asset in the future.

"Christopher, ha, that's a good name."

I looked at him. He is standing right in front of me.

"So you want me to give you a chance is it?"

"Yes sir."

His voice is suddenly much louder and clearer than before.

"Hmm."

Even though he is still a child, his value in the future cannot be overstated, neither can his information-gathering abilities. All I have to do now is give him that extra push.

"So I will be straight. Give me one good reason for me to hire you."

I'm sorry, but I can't just hire him like that. I'm aware of the significant role he will play in the future, but I'm not aware of him. He may become powerful in the future, but his actions right now will determine that.

That is something he is well aware of. He bites his lips and lowers his head as a result.

But what options do I have? In a world ruled by power, there is little room for trust and belief. We are both weak right now. Nobody believes in weak individuals. Neither he nor I have trust in each other.

"I understand that this is a ridiculous request. But give me one chance to show you what I'm capable of. Just one chance. Only pay me if you find my services valuable." He pleaded.

I slowly got out of my seat and began walking towards him.

"What makes you think I should trust you and give you a chance? We haven't even met before. How can I be sure you won't just take the money and run?"

I walked around him.

"Take a look at how pitiful you appear. A skinny figure and shabby clothes. Even beggars may appear more dignified than you. You didn't even appear to have enough money to feed yourself. So, give me one solid reason to believe in you." I gave a frigid response.

He bowed his head once more.

This is a feeling I am extremely familiar with. A buddy you believed was your family deceived you, forcing you to take on massive debt and abandoning you to your fate. Haha, life is a cruel journey.

With no money in my pocket, nowhere to stay, and nothing to eat, I spent days, months, and even years hiding from those loan sharks. I spent years sleeping on the streets and often weeks without eating. I used to drink a lot of water to keep my stomach full. I've experienced what it's like to live a life like that. That's why I felt so strongly about that character. I need to see if he shares my determination.

I sat on the bench once more.

"You don't even have an answer to a simple question, and you want me to believe you? That is also for a pathetic individual such as yourself, haha."

He didn't say anything.

I kept going,

"The first thing you need to do ask yourself is whether your existence is worth anything? Does your life have any value? And why do you still alive? Maybe be you should die than live this pathetic life. Haha.." I went the extra mile to mock his existence itself.

He fell silent once more.

Then he slowly started to rise. His face is showing no emotions. At first, when he came there was a sense of fear in his eyes then it turned in sorrow then a sense of defeat took over him but right there was no sense of emotion wherein his face.

"Yes, you are right. There is no way anyone can trust someone like me. Haha, this is a world where not even your own brother can be trusted so I never expected anyone to trust me. Even I don't have faith in anyone."

He went on to say,

"There hasn't been a single day in my life when I haven't questioned my own existence. As far as this life is concerned it's not mine. My life came to an end a long time ago. The life I'm experiencing now is the life that was given to me by the sacrifice of those who are dear to me. So I'm glad I'm living another day, and I'm remembering those who are precious to me." As he remembered his family, tears welled up in his eyes.

"And I need to be alive because I have a very important job to finish."

His eyes were very chilly when he said this. It's as if a beast is patiently waiting for the ideal opportunity to hunt.

'Haha, I like it.'

"Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, and maybe not the next month or year, but one thing is true. I will become very powerful one day. The day when I can finish the job that I left behind. I may not get a chance today, but I will not give up. I can assure you of that."

Without my knowledge, a grin had emerged on my face.

I got up and began clapping.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear from him. His willpower. It's still going strong. It appeals to me. It appeals to me greatly.

"Kid, you know what? I like you."

I began strolling in his direction.

"I will give you the opportunity that you have requested. Demonstrate to me that you're worth it."

"It will be a pleasure to work with you, Christopher Lane." I reached out and extended my hand to him.

He finally reached out and shook my hand after reorganizing himself.

"Yes"

There will most likely be a plethora of emotions coursing through his veins. It will be an excellent opportunity for him to demonstrate his ability, and for me, it will be an opportunity to make acquaintance with him.

It's a win-win situation for both of us.
