Roadblock

As Draco followed the scientists through the escape tunnel, he scanned ahead with his eyes to make sure there were no traps ahead.

The passageway was dark and eerie, however their trip through the tunnels was uneventful.

The tunnel was exceedingly long, and it wasn't until around thirty minutes had passed that they reached the end of the tunnel.

Draco saw that the tunnel opened up into a wide cavern.

This cavern was no ordinary cave though, for it had steel support beams holding up a concrete ceiling.

There were several lights scattered on the ceiling that illuminated the surroundings, enabling Draco to see a small elevator in the center of the cavern.

The elevator was barely big enough for everyone to fit through.

Draco squeezed in with the six researchers. It was a tight fit, but Draco wasn't willing to let them out of his sight.

Luckily the elevator ride was short, and after only a few seconds they had reached the top.

They got off the elevator to what looked like a parking complex of some sort.

It was made out of concrete and Draco imagined that they were still underground.

However, it was nothing compared to the parking complex Draco had seen beneath the Hamin Tower.

Draco looked around and saw a number of jeeps and military grade vehicles parked around him.

He also saw that there were a number of soldiers currently within the complex getting into vehicles and driving away, evidently fleeing from the attack.

They paid Draco and his group no heed as he led the researchers towards a couple of vehicles in the back.

Draco realized that everyone wasn't going to fit in a single vehicle, so he quickly came up with a solution.

He told five of the researchers to get into a jeep, and left a single one to drive an armored vehicle behind him.

Draco planned on using the machine gun on the top to ensure their compliance.

He chose the lead female scientist he had talked to earlier to drive his vehicle.

After issuing his orders the researchers all filed into their vehicles, and Draco threw his duffel bag into the backseat of his own before climbing atop it.

The keys were apparently left in the ignition, so getting the vehicles started wasn't a problem.

The first jeep started and began to drive forwards. Draco's driver started his armored vehicle promptly after and followed the jeep out of the complex.

The two vehicles exited through a ramp that led upwards to the surface.

There was a small clearing above the parking complex, but after that it was just a thick jungle for as far as his eyes could see.

Once they were on the surface Draco saw that there was a dirt road leading into the jungle.

He couldn't see the compound they had come from, so he guessed that they were well over a mile away at this point.

There were several other vehicles on the road ahead of them, and they were speeding off into the jungle.

Draco's group proceeded at a slower pace. He stood ready on his machine gun for any sign of rebellion from his new prisoners, or any other dangers the jungle might hold.

Draco watched his surroundings as his convoy entered the jungle, and his enhanced eye scanned the area for any threats.

The road leading into the jungle was made of dirt, and the bumpy ride meant that they had to slow down even further.

They continued on like this for almost ten minutes, the only thing of note being the occasional snake or bird swooping down from the treetops.

Draco called out to the woman driving his car, "Do you know what lies ahead of the jungle?" he asked.

The woman had to shout over the sounds of the engine to reply, "As far as I'm aware this jungle is mostly uninhabited. 90% of Libya is desert though, so once we cross the jungle there will just be sand as far as our eyes can see."

This was news to Draco, for he didn't know anything about this place beyond what he learned from his mission briefing.

"Are there any nearby cities?" Draco asked, knowing thay they wouldn't make it far through a desert without supplies.

"There is the city of Sabha, but it's probably a hundred or so miles away. Most of us researchers were kidnapped from there and forced to work for Khalifa Haftar." the woman replied.

Hearing this, Draco sighed. He knew they were in for a long trip.

They continued on for another half an hour before Draco spotted something up ahead.

They had reached the forest's edge, but they were forced to stop at the end of the road.

This was because there were several vehicles blocking the way ahead.

Draco counted three of them, all mounted with machine guns.

Draco spotted several soldiers standing around the vehicles, and they were all shouting at them in some type of African language.

"What are they saying?" Draco asked his driver.

"They're demanding that we stop and pay a toll." The woman said, her tone showing her nervousness.

Draco cursed to himself and got down from his machine gun.

These were likely the soldiers he had seen fleeing from the compound earlier, and they were proving to be a pain in the ass.

He could easily take out all of the soldiers on his own, but he didn't want any of the scientists and researchers to get harmed in the process.

Stepping down from the back of his vehicle, Draco grabbed his duffel bag and walked towards the roadblock.

"Hey! I got your f*cking bribe." Draco shouted out at the soldiers.

He opened up his duffel bag and took out a stack of cash from inside, throwing it at one of the soldiers.

"There, now let us pass." he said, turning to leave.

However, one of the soldiers stopped him, pushing the barrel of his rifle into Draco's back.

"No, All! Give All!" the soldier shouted in a thick African accent.

Hearing this, Draco rolled his eyes.

As if he was going to give all of his new riches away to some third-rate goons.

Draco twisted around at a speed the soldier couldn't react to, and roughly grabbed the soldier's neck!

Lifting the soldier into the air, Draco squeezed his hand and snapped the man's neck like it was a twig.

Still holding the man by the neck, Draco casually tossed the dead soldier a good twenty feet away.

The soldier flew into one of the vehicles blocking the road, creating a large dent in the door.

The soldiers watched this happen with widened eyes, before one of them shouted something out and began to shoot at Draco with his rifle.

The rest of the soldiers began to fire at Draco as well, and the mounted machine guns on their vehicles soon joined in.

The hail of bullets kicked up a cloud of dust on the road, and after the soldiers were sure that Draco was dead they stopped shooting.

The soldiers began laughing, likely assuming that they had taken out the powered man who they had been so scared of a second before.

However, they were gravely mistaken.

The cloud of dust settled and they noticed that Draco's form was nowhere to be seen!

Draco suddenly appeared before one of the vehicles and kicked out at it with the force of a freight train.

This kick sent the vehicle flying into the air, where it flipped several times before landing upside down.

The man who was on the machine gun was crushed to a pulp beneath the weight of the vehicle, and many of the soldiers turned to run when they saw this unstoppable display of power.

Unfortunately for them, Draco wasn't going to let them off the hook.

He promptly executed a soldier who was still brazen enough to shoot at him, turning his head into bloody mulch with a single punch.

Draco then swiftly caught up to the fleeing soldiers, grabbing two of them by their collars and dragging them back to the convoy.

He threw them on the dirt road and crushed their hands, then turned to face the remaining soldiers.

There were three soldiers left, and before Draco could even reach their position they threw their weapons down into the dirt and raised their hands in surrender.

Draco looked down at his black clothes and saw that they were a tattered mess.

His clothes had a few bullet holes in them before, but now his clothes were little more than rags hanging off of his body.

His thick chest hair was open to the wind and he shook his head as he walked up to the remaining soldiers.

"You've ruined my clothes!" he shouted out, ready to vent his frustration on their faces.

However, before he could beat them senseless all of the soldiers fell to their knees and began to grovel for mercy.

The soldiers Draco dragged back also climbed to their knees and began to cry out at him.

Seeing the look of terror in their eyes and the tears falling down their faces, Draco sighed to himself.

The soldiers were saying words to him that he didn't understand, so he called out to the woman driving his vehicle.

"Hey, scientist! Come out here and translate for me." he shouted out.

Hearing Draco's impatient demand, the woman quickly left the vehicle and hurried over to him.

She bowed to him at the waist, clearly awed by his display of power.

The woman stood up and looked over at the soldiers, before turning back to Draco.

"They're asking for you to spare them. They say that they'll serve you with their lives if you let them live." she said.

Draco spat at the ground when heard that, for he honestly didn't want to deal with more people he had to watch over.

Suddenly, a thought came to his mind.

'This might actually be beneficial, maybe they can help watch the researchers for me so I can keep them in line.' he thought, finding a way to put these soldiers to use.

After all, it's not like he would be able to watch everybody 24/7.

"All right! You will all be my new underlings!" Draco yelled out, satisfied with his plan.
