A lone figure dressed in a tuxedo soared through the air before landing on a cellphone tower as he stared at his phone while his old grey hair flowed through the wind.

"I don't understand..." The man mumbled as he scrutinized the screen on his phone.

"Why can't I find the tracker I placed...?"

"I saw the marker flashing at this location about an hour ago..." the man mumbled in frustration.

"I might have to force awaken the sample using my powers..."

"If I do that though... then I cant avoid the awakeners if I have to use my powers..."

- Crack!

He cracked the phone in his hand out of anger.

"Fine... since there's no other way..."

The man took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

"I can't let this sample getaway it's the first breakthrough I had..."

The next second he opened his eyes revealing his whole eyes gleaming bright red.

Then something erupted around him as black and red smoke started gathering around him, "Where are you my little kitten?" his voice very dark and threatening.

"Come to me. Now."

Back at Echo's house, Echo can be seen with a first aid kit.

"Phew~" Echo stood up and laid against the couch after fixing the cat.

"He should be fine now, he was shocked earlier and now unconscious." Nyx also lay on the couch as he stared at the cat.

"Do you think he'll turn?" Echo asked as he stared at the ceiling.

"Possibly... I can't guarantee either one. What will you do if he does turn back?" Nyx asked shifting his gaze.

"I don't know... I'm just worried." Echo mumbled.

"I know, but there's nothing else you can do."

"I know." Echo admitted as he got off the couch and started packing the first aid kit away.

'... A cat turning like that...? He got bigger and stronger. A normal cat couldn't be able to do the things it did tonight. it seemed as if it was awakened...' Nyx thought as he stared at the cat.

"Nyx?"

Nyx turned back and stared at Echo.

"Is there something you want to say?"

"The thing you saw earlier... is there any chance you can keep it a secret?" Echo asked with a straight face.

"You mean when you... vanished?" Nyx asked.

"Yeah that. No one can know about that 'Vanish'." Echo said with a serious tone.

Nyx sighed and narrowed his gaze, "Why would I tell anyone about you being awakened?"

"Awakened?" Echo asked surprised.

"..."

"You mean you don't know what you are?" Nyx asked surprised.

"What do you mean what I am?"

Nyx released a sigh as he looked at Echo

"Now I see... you didn't know you were or are awakened?" Nyx scrutinized Echo.

"Well it's not impossible I guess~" Nyx released another sigh.

"So your saying I'm an awakened one? Hence why I can... Vanish?" Echo said as he went from standing it sitting as he sat on the couch.

"Spill it already!" Nyx yelled in irritation as Echo tried playing dumb whenever he mentioned his powers.

"Are there others like me?" Echo avoided the question.

"... Yes, you looking at one right now."

"So you have special powers like mine?"

"Yes."

"I figured or had an idea, I mean what a normal person can turn into a cat." Echo admitted.

silence enveloped the two before vanishing once more stunning Nyx.

"Where'd he go?" Nyx asked as he tried looking around before he was startled by Echo reappearing behind the couch with two ice creams cones.

"...Wha... wh... where'd you go? How?" Nyx asked dumbfounded.

"I went for ice cream, thankfully I know a place that was open." Echo said as he went over the couch and gave one of the ice cream cones to Nyx.

Nyx stared at the ice cream cone before he grabbed it with his two paws and sat down like he was human.

"Why did you get ice cream?" Nyx asked in between licks.

"I'm upset, and I stopped crying a long time ago; ice cream calms me down." Echo said as he ate his cone.

"Is it your first time meeting another awakened?"

"... Yeah," Echo mumbled.

"I heard it's not easy for people like you, who don't know what they are."

"Yeah, your right it was difficult. When my mom found out about my powers, she told me to never use them.

One time when I had no idea about what my powers did I accidentally used them, and I disappeared at night and round up at a closed ice cream shop. I was so scared, and so was my mom they found me in the morning with tears in my eyes; curled up in the fetal position...

Since then I had to keep my powers hidden and under control. It was hard in the beginning so we had to move constantly to hide my powers.

I was always afraid... until I realized my emotions played a trigger in my powers so I had to control them it was hard... I essentially had to become robotic. I wasn't a human anymore as I detached my emotions, I was emotionless for so long it became natural until I had it under control.

Then my emotions came back... it was different. When I was emotionless I felt nothing, when with my emotions I felt everything, sadness, loneliness, anger, despair.

But hey at least I had my powers under control, right? I didn't have to worry my mom anymore, that was the only thing that gave me happiness..." Echo dumped everything he has felt throughout the years as he still ate his ice cream.

Nyx remained silent as he finished his ice cream.

"Nyx..."

"Yeah?"

"Can you teach me more about awakened ones?" Echo asked as he stared at Nyx with a serious gaze.

"..."

"People with superpowers like us, they're called awakened ones. Little is known about where they came from or when they came. Some have physical powers while others have psychic ones.

Some of us can move objects without touching them, breaking them, or making them explode."

"So like actual superheroes?" Echo asked as he finished his ice cream too.

"Kinda... these powers are called awakened abilities. They can develop in many ways.

Your powers make you vanish. Only you know your powers because I have no clue what your powers are.

Are you feeling stronger?"

"Yeah, when I vanished I could only do it for about three seconds a day before, but now I can vanish four to six seconds a day."

Nyx sighed in disappointment.

'Only that much improvement?'

"You lack training, the strength in your powers is due to controlling your emotions which is a first for me. So since the lack of training, your powers haven't been able to become stronger and stronger."

"Do all the awakened ones try and strengthen your powers?" Echo asked as he stared at the ceiling.

"Yes of course, when they become stronger they can do whatever they want with their powers."

- Rumble~

As Nyx was explaining Echo's stomach rumbled.

"Sorry I haven't eaten, and I only ate ice cream so my stomach is a bit upset." Echo sighed as he stood up.

"I'm explaining something here." Nyx sighed in defeat.

"Let me get some food..." Echo walked into the kitchen opened the fridge and took out a box of pizza. He laid it on the table and opened it revealing a pineapple pizza.

Het grabbed a plate and put four slices on his plate, he grabbed a slice off his plate and was about to take a bite before he stopped and turned to where Nyx was.

Nyx instantly turned away avoiding eye contact.

Echo sighed before he put down his plate and grabbed a dog bowl filled it up with water and place it in front of Nyx then went back to the box of pineapple pizza. He grabbed the open box of pizza and his plate and walked back to the couch.

Echo placed the open box on the floor revealing four slices of pineapple pizza and sat on the floor right next to it.

"You should eat too. I'm sure that fox was starving in the woods for a bit." Echo said as he took a bite of his pizza.

"Pineapple? What are you a psychopath?" Nyx exclaimed as he stared at the pizza in contempt.

"You want raw meat?" Echo shot back.

"..." Nyx stayed quiet before he jumped off the couch and started sniffing the pizza.

The two ate in silence enjoying their pizza.

Outside the house, the black and red energy were heading towards Echo's house.

"!!!" Nyx stopped eating and looked towards the front of the house.

'What's this energy' Nyx narrowed his gaze

'Due to my current state I didn't sense it... this energy doesn't feel normal...'

- SPPPPT!

- Flash!

The cat that was laying on the couch opened its eyes showing its full eye with no pupil or iris.

The cat jumped up and got it a defensive position.

Gaining Nyx and Echo's position.

- SPPT

- BOOM!

- Crash!

The cat started jumping around the living room crashing and breaking everything it touched.

The cat darted towards the open sliding door on the side and jumped out, thankfully it was open.

Both Nyx and Echo stared dumbfoundedly at where the cat left.

"He left." Echo voiced out.

"Yeah I can tell... but it's too early for it to be awake. Is it because of that energy that was around us?"

Echo stood up started putting on his shoes, and grabbed a cloak as he put it on.

"What are you doing?" Nyx asked as he stared at Echo.

"I gotta go after it, he can attack someone."

"Why? You already did it once, you have done enough."

"You said it yourself, it was too early to wake up, and instead of attacking us as it should have. It looked like it was heading somewhere, and when have you seen an awakened monster roaming the streets? It might be experimental." Echo said as he put on the hoodie of the cloak.

"Fine. Let's go." Nyx sighed in defeat.

"Your coming?"

"Yes. Like you said something was off about it, along with that weird energy ."

"Thanks." Echo thanked Nyx.

"Don't think I'm doing it for you, okay?" Nyx looked back.

"Sure you big softie, I'm just grateful." Echo chuckled.

"Enough banter, and follow me."

"Remember I'm not doing this for you." Nyx jumped out of the house.

"Sure!" Echo laughed and followed Nyx.

"Hmph."
