Chapter 4

Alex quickly thinking of a reply hurriedly to Duke's questions."I remember how all of you used the computer and I also read the instructions manual."

This wasn't a lie, he had actually read the instructions to help unlock more information about computers from his memories.

It didn't take him that long to finish reading thanks to his fast reading speed.

Their parents taught them never to lie and coding is also considered as a form of writing as well.

After taking a look at the computer screen there were some words on the monitor screen with the title.

"Wolfenstein 3D, what's it about?" asked Duke as Alex had been writing with such focus.

"It's about a video game I played at Michael's house a few times,"replied Alex

Michael is the person who Alex wanted to work with, in developing the games that were made in the previous timeline by id software.

Michael and their good friend Mark were great at programming software and are passionate about video games. They even made their on small mini games on Michael's computer.

When Alex would get bored of playing in same old levels in the original Castle Wolfenstein. Michael and Mark had redesign the game levels and mechanics in a just a few days.

Alex had previously always thought it had been a new game,it was only now thinking about it, that he now released he'd been wrong.

Michael could be considered his cousin in the sense. As Michael parents were Alex's godparents. It also helped that Michael had a huge crush on his sister Ashley.

He in his many attempts to woo her, he and Alex became close friends due their passion for video games. Even though Alex himself always took a long time to learn how to play a new game.

Michael and Mark had never made fun of him even when it was just the three of them alone together. Michael never even tried to use him to get close to his sister.

Hello!!! "Is anyone home can I please come in to see Alex." Yelled a person outside the door. " As they also ring the door bell. Alex and Duke quickly recognized the voice.

Duke went to open the door before the buffoon broke down their door.

Opening the door he saw tall blonde hair boy who stood around 5 foot 11. He had milky white like skin, deep ocean blue eyes and sharp facial features. Anyone could tell that as he slowly mature he will only become more dashing.

And behind him was another boy with an average appearance with dark brown hair and light brown eyes. Wearing a pair of rounded glasses the boy did however, have distinct jawline and nose. Standing around 5 foot 10 with Duke being the tallest male in the room at 6 foot 1 than Alex being the shortest at 5 foot 7 in height.

After Duke invited the two in they all set down together in the living room and chatted. Michael and Mark were still both amazed at how well Alex could speak now. As in the past he could brearly arrange together a proper sentence.

They kept questioning him about the matter unlike his family who were just great full about the change.

Alex could only tell the two guys that it had to do with accident which they didn't believe.

Alex wasn't lying as it really had to do with the accident as he himself still didn't have answers to the questions either.

They were all teens and were all still maturing slow, went for everyone but, Duke who just by his temperament seemed more mature.

Soon the three teenagers start to read the story Alex wrote. Which they all really seemed to enjoy, well to Alex it seemed Duke was more happy about Alex writing skills than anything else.

Eventually Michael and Mark had to leave, they did bring up the topic about the story of the game which interested Michael.

Alex decided not to talk about it for now, at least until he got the engine for the game running. Which would take long as generally video game at this time general took a couple of months to complete.

So Alex wasn't in a rush to start implementing his plans yet. The only thing he needed to worry about was the possible effects his actions would bring.

He also decided to wait a few more months before selling the off the schematics for the computer operating systems. Which would take him at least four to five months to complete. He was still new to the whole typing thing on the computer it was best to take things slow.

He needed to go through the motion and gain the identity of a genius. Who had up till this time been limited by his previous medical condition. As it was still to early to show off his skills in front of his family.

Even though he was reluctant to go with this root, it was still better than having the people he loved be even more suspicious of him.

This would also give him a good excuse after creating the basic layout of the operating system, for the two biggest tech companies.

As the two left the house, Alex got a call from his two older sisters who wanted to check up on him.

Six months later January 19 Thursday 1988.

Microsoft headquarters in a large office located at the top floor sat a middle-aged man. Who sat quietly on his chair while staring instantly looking at his computer screen where he received a suspicious email.

This man was the current CEO of Microsoft Bill Gates. Who after looking at the screen for a full hour he finally called his secretary to his office.

"Jeffery call the leading the technical manager for the software processor for the new windows system. And let him prepare a emergency meeting with his staff right away now." Spoke Gates on a furious and worried voice

Did their systems get hacked or did someone come up with a better version of their windows software system. If so this could seriously effect the company if their competitors got a hold of this.

His hold on the monopoly of the windows system could be threatened and they would lose their advantage against their competitors.

After one hours they started the meeting and began to discuss the situation. However, Gates was in disbelief that their windows system wasn't stolen.

After a while he and the technical staff did more indebted research on the windows software system they'd received and were surprised at how advanced it was. The technical staff and he had been originally working on a new windows software system that would be released two to three years time from now.

However, this software was already three years a head of where they are currently even though it seemed to be only a small part of the software.

" Boss even though we now have this small part of the software, it'll still take some time to complete the rest of it and may take us at least till the end of the year to complete it." Spoke one of the technical staff members.

Thinking for about it for a bit Gates finally focused on the sender which only had a few words 'Please pay to get the full version. "

However, Bill wasn't sure even if he paid for the software, he would be the only one to have the it all to him self. It wasn't too hard for others to create a his a computer operating systems. The real danger was if others are created an operating system that was years a head of his own.

And he wasn't wrong to think that as a group of shareholders of Apple were all sitting around a large table. And were listening to their technical team about the email they received with a small part of a new IOS software code.

They received with a few simple words attached to it 'Please pay to receive the full version. "

Two days after Alex sent the emails he still didn't get a reply. However, he wasn't worried as he new that they would reply after struggle to figure out the software even though it had similar features to their current software.

It was just like telling someone to understand how to build a car that was mad 10 years in the future. Even if that car was made by themselves in the near future it would still be difficult to do it. With their current understand now than in the future.

As he was about to which off the computer and go do his homework he received an email. Quickly opening it up so that it was from Apple and just asked how much he wanted.

See this a smile appeared on Alex face than he quickly typed in a number. At Apple headquarters a group of people where standing around a computer screen wanting for a reply. Finally a email arrived with a number written 300 000 US dollars.

"What.. that all this person wants from us or is it that he doesn't have the full version of the software ?" Spoke one of the board members.

"It's fine three hundred thousand dollars won't hurt our pockets and this could also be our chance to find this person. " Said another board member.

"Alright send the money and let's find this person." Said the first broad member after some thought.

A few minutes a email arrived asking for Alex bank details smiling. Alex sends a bank number to the other part.

After they received the account number the send the money over and stared tracking the money to the account. However, after the money was sent to that account it suddenly disappeared to the disbelief of the others.

As they start to believe that they had been played as fools by the other party a email arrived. The person working the computer quickly opened it to see the full version of the IOS software codes.

Seeing this all the technical staff and board members started putting on huge grinds total forgetting about the three hundred thousand they sent.

After Alex transferred the money to his personal account a huge grind also formed on his face. He didn't ask for more money from them because it would have been to difficult for him now to do. So he settled down with three hundred thousand dollars for now. It was also a fair amount for this type of thing in this era.

Later that night he told his family about how he helped a big tech company solve a problem they had. And how they sent him money as thanks.

Everyone at the dinner table at first gave Alex a sceptical look. Including Ashley and Jennifer who returned from College after finishing getting masters degree. Giving him disbelieving looks so Alex decided to show them the after dinner.

As expected his parents were shocked when they full of disbelief at the large amount. In their bank account along the a letter that was sent by Apple. Thanking Alex for helping them, that Apple sent him after getting the full version of the IOS operating systems and checking it.

Only after seeing the email and with Alex persistent on convincing them in believe him they finally expected the idea. However they still had a little doubt in their hearts about the hole thing but they decided to trust in him for now.

"Alright, it seems like what you're saying is true what do you plan to do with your acquired wealth now? " Asked Alex father.

"I plan to keep only a hundred thousand for myself ,as theirs a project I've been planning to get started with Michael and Mark." Said Alex.

"What about the other two hundred thousand dollars left. " Asked

"I don't need it I was planning on leaving that for you and dad to decide on what to do with."replied Alex

However, instead of having a joyful expression on their faces as Alex expected both had a frown instead. And Alex knew the reason why his parents didn't like the idea of taking their sons first earnings from him.

"Alex there no need to be so modest about your on money you should it the way you like but be responsible for it." said his mother

"She right it yours to spend ,we can even put it in your savings account for you."add his father

Alex started to get a headache from all this and decided to be firm with them as he just wanted to start on his real money making plan.

"Dad ,Mom I'm not doing to argue with you about this , I've seen how you two have been struggling since the accident. I'm going to let you struggling like this in the future and that what I plan to do and this is just being so keep it."said Alex in a strong and determined voice.

With that Alex left the room and to call Michael and Mark leaving his parents and siblings in shock. Even though Alex knew that the way he left was rude it was the only way to show his parents that he wasn't thinking like a little child anymore.

After calling Michael and Mark over to his house they went down to the basement and started cleaning it out. This was were Alex decided to start his business empire and it was just how many ways other big companies started out.

After the three finally finished cleaning the basement Alex asked his dad to take them to town to buy new computers part as they had decided to build their own custom computer. This would make them more powerful and easier to use in making their games.

After spending six months working on a shared computer Alex and Mark were excited to. Have their own personalized computer, Michael would also get to create his own personalized for their Gaming studio.

After getting the parts they spent several hours assembly them and sitting them up to use. Than transferring all their already finished work to their new computers.

Alex also asked his dad to go and get them the licenses to use the 'Castle Wolfenstein' name. Which didn't coast any as the original developer went bankrupt, taking the Castle Wolfenstein name with it so no one had the right to the name. So Alex dad just had to claim the rights to the name for them.

It would take another month for Alex to finish writing his part of code for the game. Mark and Michael had already shown their abilities in programming.

Michael being the one in charge of working on the game mechanics and level design. Mark on the other hand was responsible for designing the characters, animation and graphic.

With the help of Alex it took a total of four months working on the game engine and the game itself. The game was exactly the same as in the original time with only a few changes.

In the original Wolfenstein game created by id software the original character couldn't look up or down but, thanks to Alex, he could now in this game. The games 3D graphics were also much better.

After Michael and Mark played through the game they were still amazed and surprised that they had a part in making this game.

However, Alex hadn't been to happy about the time it took them to make the game engine and game itself. He new that they needed more help in making the games. Thankfully Mark, was able to convince his older brother to come help with the finishing work.

Another reason for their slow speed was because of their commitment to their school work. With his high intelligence he had calculated that it would take him about three months to design a inferior version of the Unreal Engine. As the technology advice he would only needed to make improvements on to the overall structure of the engine yearly.

Going with the 'Unreal Engine' as the name of the game engine, due to how popular the name was. Even though it would be a combining of other game engine to make his own engine.

As in the future there would only be one way to describe this in the future 'UNREAL'. Well that had been the timeline he planned out for himself.

Hence he decided after they lunched the game, they would begin recruit more people to their game studio. To start producing the next game DOOM after the recruitment process ended.

Now he just needed to find a way to release the game he had already decided to use the internet and create a platform on were people could download the game online. Along with physical distribution through a third-party distributor.

As well as making plans for where the new recruits would work. That if he could convince his parents about his idea. " Hey, Alex do you really think that our game going to do well? " Questioned Mark who set at his computer. Breaking Alex out of his thoughts, as he turned to look at Mark with a dark expression.

" I mean I know have asked this several times already. Cause I'm not sure if my mom would be to pleased seeing play this type of game. " Hurriedly replied Mark.

Michael also stopped what he was doing to look at Alex as well. Michael and Mark didn't personally have a problem with the games heavily graphics violence. They had played many games with guns but, none of them had depicted it this graphics.

" That's the whole point. If you want to standout from the competition we'll need to do things that have never been done before in gaming. " Replied Alex with a confident smile.

Still this didn't seem to ease both Michael and Mark worries about their first game.
