DOOM

Seeing how things were progressing smoothly Alex decided to start working on DOOM. Heading back downstairs to find that all of them had gone on break and were eating a box of fried rice and rice.

The atmosphere was very relaxed at the moment it was much better than the first two weeks. When the rest of Gray's team arrived in Brooklyn after they had dispened. After they weren't unable to make any big moves in the gaming market this wasn't due to their lack of skills but, was due to lack of experience.

All of them were in their early twenties and were still learning how the world worked however, Alex couldn't say they were the best either. So all Alex could do was train them in the field and see how they improved.

Alex also looked at their work rate, Alex didn't want people who worked too hard and neglected their health in the processes. To establish a good working environment for them Alex made a rule that they couldn't work for more than eight hours a day five days a week. For a total 40 hour a week excluding overtime.

They also weren't allowed to work for more than four hours on Saturdays and they weren't allowed to work on Sunday without his permission. The was a time for every thing and they should all be placed in their proper place.

The most important thing to Alex is for his people to be happy and relaxed this would increase work efficiency and equality. A person who enjoys want they do can deliver quality work on time.

"Hey, looks like there big boss finally came downstairs to see." Said Jack in a sarcastic voice.

Alex hadn't ask any of his new team to call 'him big boss' they just started calling him that after they had become more comfortable with each other. The nick name was a jab at Alex young age compared to the rest of them. It's s also a reference to a game character in Metal Gear Soiled.

Hearing Jack's sarcastic words Alex's just smiled wryly and replied with his on rebuttal, "Seems as everyone is following the rules of their boss well."

Referencing to the eating habits of the team who would usually only eat junk food while still sitting on their computer working.

In most cases young up and coming game developers had unhealthy habits. Like living boxes of food nearby their work area while spending the whole day to the night working. They would sleep eat and repeat the same processes only leaving their computer to go to the restroom.

They wouldn't even go out side for weeks on end as they could just oder food to be delivered to them. Alex decided to have them change these unhealthy habits by having them actually go out and buy groceries then cooking them in their kitchen.

Thankfully most of them actually know how to cook for themselves a proper meal except for Ronnie their sound designer.

"Well, you made it very clear the first time we met about following your rules properly." Said Jack

At first most of them had a hard time trying to follow the order of someone six to eight years younger than them and adjusting their working habits. However, after some time all of them felt much happier in this type of working environment, which was much more relaxing.

Their pay wasn't too bad to boot Alex parents were the ones who actually paid them. From the companies account end of the month.

While food and housing was paid by the company the pay wasn't the best but, it was much better than their previous relents on the income from their games sells.

Having a fixed salary was much more relaxing than hoping to make enough from their games to pay everyone. "Good after everyone has finished eating and resting up. We'll all go back to work I would like to sit up the structure of the game before Saturday." Said Alex

As he would be leaving for Los Angeles with David and his mother to meet Steven Spielberg. As now that he had to pay salary and other needs of his team it started to tighten his wallet substantially.

He really needed the inflex of cash from the selling the movie rights of Jurassic Park to Universal. Alex also couldn't completely relax as the money would only be enough for now. As more people had agreed to come to Brooklyn to work for him.

This was thanks to the tireless work of his new team mates who were able to find more colleagues. Who after playing the demo of Wolfenstein 3D finally agreed to come.

The group finished eating and rested while talking together about the development of DOOM. Everyone want back to work after a thirty minutes break. Mark and Michael came over as while after finishing their home work assignments.

Unlike Alex who could finish his school work in 5 to 10 minutes depending on the amount he got. They could finally come over to work on the games.

The team mean focus is on the levels and layout of the game DOOM would only take about three months to complete. Since they used most of the code from 'Castle Wolfenstein 3D' with Wolfenstein Alex didn't change much of the game. As he just improved the speed and movement of the main character.

Unlike in the original Castle Wolfenstein were you couldn't look up or down to aim. With DOOM Alex decided to change as much as he wanted and the first thing he did was focus on the story.

In the original DOOM the story wasn't the main focus it's mean focus was on the combat and weapons used in the game. The story wasn't really fleshed out until DOOM twenty sixteen. Alex's also decided to make the game darker which was giving the player a shoulder mounted flesh light.

This would be for a few levels in game. Alex want the game to become a slow paced horror. This would only be for some sections of the game. As Alex didn't forget want truly made the first DOOM game so popular in the future was the fast pace action.

What he planned was to add some new horror levels to the gameplay to scare the players. Also most of the levels lay-out would be different from the original game as this wasn't the same team that made the original DOOM in 1993.

Alex didn't want to restrict his team creativity on how to go about making the game however, that doesn't mean Alex would expect all their ideas for the game. He would meanly make sure the game was as exciting as the original and didn't ruin the games plot.

Alex began working on the character design of DOOM Guy and other enemies of the game for the next four hours. After that Alex left the building with Michael and Mark they all spoke about their progress on their sides of the game.

"So Alex your leaving in three days right?" Asked Mark with some hesitations in his voice clearly showing he wanted something.

"Yes, go on." replied Alex with a genital smile on his face. Alex really liked Mark personality. Alex would always feel like was the oldest one of the two.

"Since, your going to meet Steven Spielberg, could you get his odder-graph for me." Asked Mark in a shy tone as he looked at Alex with an expected gaze in his eyes.

Shaking his Alex replied back honestly."Well, I am not to certain if we'll actually meet Steven Spielberg at our place, he might just send a representative to the meeting with the agent who works for Universal."

"Oh, umm.. okey thanks for being honest with me any." Said Mark with same disappointment in his voice.

"Well, Iike I said I'm not too sure about meeting Steven Spielberg however, there's still a possibility I might so if I do meet him in person I get his signature for you." Said Alex

Hearing this Mark's eyes lit up with joy Steven Spielberg was considered one of the greatest director in Hollywood. If he was able to get his autograph he would be able to brag in front of all his classmates and the girl he liked.

If Alex knew what Mark was thinking about right now he would unhesitately smack him over the head.

"What about you Michael do you also want an autograph as well?" Asked Alex as he turned his attention to Michael who was beside him

Shaking his Michael. "I not really a Steven Spielberg fan himself so you don't need to get me his autograph if you do meet him."

"Alright, than if say so." Answered Alex

After arriving at Mark's condo they all said goodbye to one other separating. Mark and Michael didn't escort Alex to his home anymore. Which was what Alex therapist advised to help him get used to moving around in alone.

Which at first stressed Alex mother very much at first as she felt uncomfortable about it. However, she knew she couldn't go against the therapist orders for Alex well being.

Reaching his house Alex's found his dad car prank in front of the house upon coming closer. He could hear his father's and brothers voice.

Arriving at the left view mirror of the car he found Duke sitting in the driver's seat while his father seat in the passenger seat. Oliver had been teaching Duke how to drive for a few days now which put a smile on his face when teaching his son how to drive.

Oliver had taught Ashley how to drive when she was about fifteen years old while Martha taught Jennifer how to drive. Now it was Duke turned to learn how to drive right now they had just finished driving around their street and learning how to parallel park.

"Father, Duke how is your lesson going?" Asked Alex

"Oh.. it's going fine I think we only need a few more weeks to sharp your older brothers road awareness and we'll be done." Replied Oliver

"Are you going to take the drive test after father's done teaching you?" Asked Alex

Upon hearing Alex question Duke nodded his head said. "Yes, I'll take the test after father's done teaching me."

"I think that enough for today let's all go inside now. You're mother said she baked a cake to celebrate today did anything special happen to day?" Asked Oliver as he got out of the car with Duke

"Uncle, David called today to inform us that he finally found a book publisher that willing to publish my book." Replied Alex calmly.

Hearing Alex's words Duke and Oliver stared at Alex both having the same thought running down there minds. 'Didn't he say that a little to casually?'

Everyone in Alex family weren't too obsessed with money as Oliver and Martha never really talked about money too much. Yes, both of them had lived a really tough life ever since they were abandoned by their family members as teenagers.

Where they to struggle teach day to make ends meet to provide for themselves and their family. Throughout all their struggles money wasn't the thing that kept them together. It was the love and support both Martha and Oliver had developed for each other during difficult times.

Especially in times where either of them knew were their next meal would come from. If money was their main focus neither of them would still be together right now.

So Oliver and Martha mostly taught about the importance of having strong love and affection for each other in difficult times.

" So Are you ready for your trip to L.A Alex? "Asked Oliver
