Chapter 7: The three of us?

(Zane POV)

"You did what?" Sasha whisper yelled.

"Shhh!" I said as I covered her big mouth before we attract any attention here in the cafeteria.

"You did what? Really?" Sasha murmured softly.

"Yes, we did. He pulled me to his room and I got intimidated because I don't know what's about to happen. That's when he pushed me on the bed and started making out with me. We were about to do more actually until you knocked." I admitted.

"Ah!!!!!" Sasha screamed like a banshee which made every single one of the students, including the cafeteria lady stare at both of us.

Without having second thoughts, I got up from our table and walked out of the cafeteria as fast as I can. I am not going to put up with this scandal that she's causing. As soon as I got out of the cafeteria and continued on walking, I heard the cafeteria doors open again so I assumed that it was Sasha who was following me.

"You're so scandalous, I can't even…"

I didn't even finish my sentence because as soon as I turned my head around, expecting that it was Sasha who followed me, it was actually Kurt.

"Hey!"

"Hi!" I said in a surprised tone.

"I bet you already told Sasha about it." Kurt said.

"Um…yeah but only her. Don't worry, I didn't tell anyone else."

"It's fine. She's your best friend, I understand and I assume that her screaming was her reaction to what happened last night between us." Kurt smiled.

"Yeah, she can really be the most annoying person sometimes, Kurt."

"Don't call me Kurt anymore. I hate that dumb name. Just call me Kline, that's what my friends call me."

"Kline, I like it. Is it your nickname?"

"Yes but only a certain people can call me that."

The moment I heard that, my heart leapt a little. I was flattered that I was a part of that group of certain people. I can't believe that he likes me that much.

"Zane, can we talk for a while?"

"Sure." I said before we both went to the school quadrangle. We then sat at the nearest bench to talk about what happened last night.

It was quiet at first but Kline decided to break the silence by asking something that left me speechless.

"Zane, do you want to be in a relationship?" He asked.

Wait, is he serious?

"Kline, we're going quite fast…don't you think?"

"I am just asking a question. It doesn't mean anything."

"Sure, why not? But, I would love to get to know you first." I answered.

"Listen, Zane. I have been admiring you for a long time. I actually have the biggest crush on you and what I did last night, I did it purposely and for a reason. It's because I like you and I am certainly glad that we shared that kind of intimacy but…I am not looking forward for any relationships."

"Oh…" I exclaimed in bewilderment.

"I have never been in a relationship with any girls or guys and I intend in keeping it that way."

Kline is pretty straightforward. I have to say, it didn't really sadden me that he is not fond of engaging in a relationship but it is mind boggling, considering how many girls and gay guys he can bedazzle with his looks and charisma.

"It's okay, Kline. I respect your decision."

"Zane, you didn't let me finish."

My eyes widened in anticipation of what he was about to say.

"I don't want to be in a relationship but I would love to be with you."

"Huh?"

"I want to be there for you as a friend. If you need me, I'm here. If you find someone who you will truly love, I will make sure he'll never hurt you."

I can feel my face getting red from flattery. Frankly, this turned out better than what I expected. It was absolutely fine if he is not comfortable enough to be in a relationship and I appreciated his honesty but him, admitting his feelings for me and offering his loyalty is a whole different story. The fact that he is able to tell me who he is and what he wants without shame, rather than hiding it and making a fool of other people goes to show how real he is as a human being.

"Why do you care this much?" I asked.

"Because you're special. You have an ambition, you are hardworking and you are a fighter. You're a good person too from the way you treat people here in school. You go out of your way to bake for them. You also focus on your goals and you never lose track of your direction."

"I'm not all that, Kline. I just bake for them because I need the money to pay my tuition."

"Yeah, but you bake goods that are nothing short of perfection and people enjoy it. People love what you do. You make them happy. You are strong and independent and you really earned my respect."

Hearing Kline's words really is going to do a lot for my self-esteem. I really am doing well. Janelle's right.

"Hey! You're a strong leader too. You're the student body president for God's sake. You wouldn't make it there and you wouldn't earn students' votes for no reason, right?" I said as I gave him a pat.

"Zane!" Sasha called.

Ugh…here we go, again!

"Why'd you left?" She raised an eyebrow and acted upset as she sat in between me and Kline.

"Because you're causing a scene."

"Psshh, since when did I cause a scene?"

"Just every minute." I rolled my eyes which caused Kline to giggle.

"Oh, by the way, we have an early dismissal tomorrow. You guys want to watch a movie right after class?" Kline suggested.

"The three of us?" Sasha asked.

"Yeah, why not?" Kline said in a "duh" tone.

What a great day to make a new friend!
