"Do you have any communication?" I tilted my head to the side.

She nodded, "He often calls my home phone with a pay phone."

"Why don't you live together anymore?"

She rubbed her hands together once again. "During the last few months before Gordon's passing there was something bothering him greatly."

That peaked my interests as I readjusted on the couch, "like what?"

"Like a threat," she looked into my eyes with a serious expression, "I had only seen him like that twice in our relationship. The day my father threatened to reveal my ethnicity and a few weeks before his death. He never wanted to reveal what was going on but he urged me to keep our identities a secret. Especially Ezra."

My eyebrows furrowed as I tried to make sense of the situation. "Did you ever try to ask him why?"
