"I- I can't have children Adonis."
He seemed not to grasp my words as he blinked then allowed his lips to form a pout. "What?"
I turned my face away from him and focused back on the football match we had both lost track on. It felt dumb now that I had said it. The words were heavy in the air and I wished I could take them then stuff them right back into my mouth. I should have not said a word. "I can't have children."
"You don't want children or you can't have children?" he seemed dumbfounded by the mere thought of it.
"I can't have children," my mouth hardened into a thin line before I decided to moisten my lips with a sip of wine, "I have a low sperm count. The chances of me having children the natural way are slim to zero. IVF would be my only option and the chance to conceive would still be a miracle."
"When did you find this out?" the space between his eyebrows furrowed.
I shrugged, "A few years ago."
