1.60 Escape

"Mom and Arnold are hiding something from me," I tell David. We are in a hammock outside the house, finally able to get away from everyone. David is running his hands through my hair, and our limbs are entangled.

"Really? What makes you say that?" he replies, his fingers pausing on my head.

"They're suddenly acting suspiciously."

"I'm sure it's nothing. You're probably just getting used to having overprotective parents around you again."

I look at him, exasperated, "No, I know what I'm talking about.

David sighs, unfazed at my outbursts as usual, "Okay, okay. But Dina, you know that getting mad at them will not make them tell you whatever they're hiding, right?" He boops me on the nose.

I roll my eyes at him, "I know. But I can't help it. Something's definitely going on and they're not telling me because they think I can't handle it."

"Nah. It's probably because they can't trust you to not go running towards trouble again."
