Crafting gear

Murmayd looked around and thought about gathering some resources to craft something. 'I know this game only praises warriors and true strength but, even warriors need good gear,' she told herself. She would only craft a few items since she promised Spark that she would meet her soon, so she needed to focus on battles to get strong and join her. 'I'll only make a few simple items and maybe improve my armor so that I won't be scared to go get bit again,' she thought.

Murmayd opened her inventory and looked around at what she had.

- Water (low quality)

- Breakfast (low quality)

- Novice Mount (low quality, tamed)

- Wallet containing 6 silver 2 copper

-Sword (low quality)

- Bowl (low quality)

- Saw (low quality)

- Pickaxe (low quality)

- Shovel (low quality)

- Healing potion (low quality)

- Wild dog hide ×2 (poor quality)

Since Spark was no longer around to save her if she needed help, she needed to buy a better healing potion before venturing out to get materials. She visited one of the shops to some but none of the items were above 'poor quality.' "I guess this is better than low," she told herself and bought 2 more just in case. She traded 2 silver coins for the potions and left town to find some materials.

She didn't need to walk very far to find some mining areas. She pulled out her pickaxe and started to mine some ore. After several minutes, she had acquired 5 poor quality copper ore. She then continued into the forest and chopped down 2 poor quality logs. Her backpack couldn't hold any more weight, so she decided to use what she had and head back to the shops. She stopped to drink water before plucking some grass to feed Walker later. As she made her way back to the town, she thought about making some gear for Walker and wondered if that would help improve her mount at all. It was worth a try, but she would focus on her own gear first.

In town, the tool shop had some anvils, smelters and other items for new players to use but she had to pay one silver to rent the materials for 1 hour. She paid the NPC 2 silver and hoped it would be enough time to finish everything she wanted to do. I'm going to run out of money soon if I don't start killing the monsters faster,' she thought to herself.

"Hmm, I think first I'll make a new sword, and a small shield if I have enough ore. This way i can fight without having to get bit all the time," she told herself. She might not have been the best fighter, but she was confident in her ability to make something better than her current weapons. Murmayd pulled out her materials and started to work on her new weapons. As she started to melt the ore, she received a notification:

"Creation bonus activated: (1) Increased quality (2) Less raw materials required (3) 0% chance of breakage (4) 100% chance for random perk"

She read it and was excited to finally have something happen in her favor. She was able to create her sword and shield and even had a little bit of leftover copper.

"Items received"

- Long sword, copper (epic quality, +100 damage perk)

- Small shield, copper (epic quality, +100 protection perk)

"Wow! I have an epic item already," she said out loud in surprise. "It probably isn't that great though because I only had these poor copper ore, but it has to be better than my low-quality sword." She walked over the other side of the shop and decided to make her bow and some arrows with the wood and hides she had before going out to fight again. She started working on her bow and arrows when she received another notification.

"Creation bonus activated: (1) Increased quality (2) Less raw materials required (3) 0% chance of breakage (4) 100% chance for random perk"

Murmayd squeaked with joy when she read this. 'I'll definitely make something amazing with this too,' she thought to herself.

"Items Received"

- Long Bow, pinewood (epic quality, +100 range perk)

- Arrows, pinewood (epic quality, +100 damage perk)

"Ha! Now maybe I can kill one dog by myself," she said as she looked at the time. "I have some time left so I'll upgrade these arrows and make some copper arrowheads with my leftover ore. That should increase my chances of killing those damn wild dogs." She used up the rest of her copper and made some arrowheads to combine with the simple arrows before her time expired.

"Creation bonus activated: (1) Increased quality (2) Less raw materials required (3) 0% chance of breakage (4) 100% chance for random perk"

"Items received"

-Copperhead arrows (epic quality, +100 damage perk, +100 bleeding perk)

"Now I'm ready for war," she said with a smile on her face. Murmayd was worried after Spark left but she felt a renewed sense of excitement now that she had something to defend herself. She summoned Walker and fed her some grass before jumping on and heading in the direction of the wild dogs. As she slowly rode through the forest, she looked at her wallet. 'Only 2 silver left. Thank goodness Spark lent me some money earlier or else I'd be flat broke,' she thought.

As she approached the pack of wild dogs again, she could only think of the searing pain that coursed through her body every time she got attacked by one. She was hesitant to go back by herself but was excited to try her new weapons so she put Walker away and pulled out her bow. 'Here goes nothing,' she thought.

Murmayd placed her newly crafted arrow on her bow. She pulled back the string yet again and carefully aimed one of the wild dogs in the pack. She took a deep breath and released the bow string. The arrow shot out of her hand at lightning speed. It was so powerful that it pierced right through the wild dog and continued through another dog before smashing into a tree on the other side. Both wild dogs fell dead instantly. Murmayd stood there, shocked and eyes wide.

"What the hell was that?! I expected it to be stronger, but I don't have a high score for ranged so I never thought it could be that powerful," she said. She pulled out another arrow and shot again, but this time she lined up her shot and waited for more dogs to stand behind each other. She took another deep breath and fired her arrow again when she saw four dogs standing in a row. WHOOSH! Again, the arrow cut right through all of them and smashed into a tree on the other side as she received another notification.

"Ranged improved to 261."

Murmayd was so excited about her drastic improvement that, she was actually thrilled to fight something with her sword. She wasn't sure how strong her sword would be since she was only a level 4, but if the sword she made was anything like her bow, then it would definitely help her kill much easier. She quickly switched the bow with the sword and shield as she ran up to the remaining wild dogs in front of her. She swung her sword with as much strength as she could muster. WHOOSH! A huge wave cut across the remaining wild dogs and sliced them all in half. Six dogs fell to the ground and Murmayd just stared in amazement at the bloody scene before her. Even though she wasn't a fan if the gore in games, she was proud of her work and saw this bloody mess as one hell of an accomplishment.

"One-handed improved to 7"

'This changes everything,' she thought as she stared in amazement.
