Mae cries bitterly onto Ashton's chest, wetting his t-shirt. Ashton feels extremely bad for her and holds her close to him, allowing her to let herself out. "I'm unable to control my tears, Ashton. I'm so sorry."
"You don't have to apologise, Mae. You've kept them in for too long. Let it out. I'll be here until the last drop of tear."
"I dearly loved him. Genuinely. I bore all his outbursts and frenziness for the attention he gave me. I thought I'll definitely make it work through everything. But it was all in vain. I don't even have proper closure. It hurts me so badly, Ashton. I don't want to go through this."
"I'm sorry, Mae."
"Why are you sorry?" she asks, rising up from his chest.
"I feel like you got into this because of me, because of that night. I feel guilty."
Mae places her palm over the other hand not around her which was resting on his knee. "Didn't I get you into this too?"
