Chapter Three

Six months have passed since Rebecca passed away. Bradley was at work, and I went running. My workout clothes were already on. I noticed Sarah as I ran across town. As I approached, she was standing outside a bakery, so I stopped running. "Hey!" Sarah smiled. "Hi," I said. Looking at the desserts, Sarah looked hungry. Sarah looked at me with a shrug as she shook her head. It was clear she was waiting for someone. I asked her if she wanted me to get her something to eat. She smiled, "Sure."

As we walked into the bakery, I felt a little embarrassed with what I was wearing. I wore sweatpants and my college t-shirt. I said, "I'm paying.". As Sarah and I waited in line, we just started talking. "I'm looking forward to our next meeting." I chuckled, "Yeah, me, too." Sarah sighed as she studied the menu. So did I. Sarah made me want to hold her hand. It was a little intimidating.

We decided to eat our dessert outside. She thanked me for extending a chair for her. She sat down, and I sat down on my chair. I asked, "So how is life?"

Rebecca was not something I wanted to talk about. Sarah is very kind. She asked me how my life was going. I replied that everything was fine. That wasn't the truth.

Sarah had a beautiful smile. Her teeth were white, and her makeup was flawless. Sarah and I both began to eat our desserts. "I was wondering if you would like to see a movie?" Sarah chuckled, "Of course, that sounds great."

As I took another bite of my pastry, I smiled. As soon as Sarah gets a text, she pulls out her phone from her purse. "I hope you don't mind me taking this." I didn't mind. Suddenly, Sarah stood up and answered the phone.

Bradley and I decided to go to the beach. That was our first trip together. Since we moved in together, we have never taken a trip. It was relaxing. I wanted a break from work.

At the movies, Sarah and I were together. She bought me some popcorn and candy. We watched the new Harry Potter movie. I sighed as we sat down.

"Seeing the movie was exciting," Sarah said.

"Yeah," I chuckled.

As Sarah and I walked to my car, we just looked into each other's eyes. We almost kissed. She'd just gotten another call. I was telling Bradley how wonderful Sarah is. Sitting at the table, I began to write. I looked at the screen when I heard a text tone. It was Sarah. She wasn't sure what she wanted to wear.

Sarah sent me a FaceTime request while I was in bed. I accepted it and she wished me a hello. "Hello," I said, and Sarah smiled, "Hi." I saw Sarah in her kitchen. She looked like she was cooking.

As I approached the door, I heard the doorbell. She was wearing a pink shirt with hearts and high heels once again. Additionally, she wore jewelry. I invited her into my apartment.

"What a beautiful view you have."

"Thanks." I shut the door behind her.

Bradley was pretending to be our chef and cooking lasagna. Sarah was told to make herself comfortable. After introducing himself, Bradley approached. He was just playing around. Sarah liked him a lot.
