Chapter – 45 (Canoe Belway’s last moments)

As Primis and Canoe were going into dungeon, they didn't meet with a single monster along the way.

'Canoe: What's going on? When I passed by here before, there were killer ants. But now there are none. Let alone killer ants, I didn't even see a single monster.'

Canoe looked back and saw Primis following behind with same cold face.

'Canoe: Don't tell that he is so focused on me that he doesn't even realize it. No. No. No. Didn't he say he killed all the monsters in this floor. Did he kill them when I was taking care of my wound? Well, he did disappear and returned with my arm. Maybe that time he killed all the monsters here and returned because he wanted me to guide him to 10th Floor.'

Primis: Stop.

Canoe: Y-Yes?

Primis: We have reached the stairs leading to 8th Floor.

Canoe: Huh?

Looking back Canoe saw that he had passed by the stairs leading down.

Canoe: I-I am s-sorry. Looks like I was lost in my thoughts.

Primis didn't answer and just stare at him. Canoe started to sweat bullets and put a force smile on his face.

Canoe: L-Let's go down.

Then he started walking down the stairs. Soon they reach 8th Floor after 5 mins of walk.

Canoe: T-This is 8th Floor.

Primis kept on following Canoe in silent. He didn't have any intention of talking with someone like him unless necessary. Canoe also became quiet realizing this and just continue showing the way.

As they went deeper, the amount and size of rooms increased and the length of the hallways between them became shorter. Also, the ceiling changed height from three to four meters from the floors above to nearly ten meters. Moss covered the brown colored walls, and the ground below became a short grass plain. The strong light from the phosphorescence above was similar to light from the sun.

'Primis: If I remember correctly, no new monsters will appear yet. Only the same monsters from 1st-7th Floors will become much stronger.'

[Yes. New monsters will appear starting from 10th Floor.]

After this small talk with Twilight, Primis kept on following behind Canoe. But still no monsters appeared, and they soon reached stairs leading to 9th Floor.

'Canoe: No. No. No. Something is definitely wrong. How come there is no monsters even in 8th Floor? Even if he killed every monster in 7th Floor, I can tell this is his first time coming to this floor. So, it's impossible for him to kill all the monsters here.'

Canoe glanced back at Primis before shaking his head.

'Canoe: Let's just hope this a coincidence. Yup this is just a coincidence.'

Canoe: T-These stairs lead to 9th Floor.

Primis: Continue.

Canoe: Y-Yes.

Soon they walked down and reached 9th Floor. And behold, not a single monster even on this floor.

'Canoe: FUCK. This is no longer coincidence. There can only be two instances here. First, there is a strong Adventurer party who is killing all monsters. Second, there is a very strong monster who is killing everyone. Former is not possible so this can only be later.'

Canoe started panicking thinking that. Even his body started shivering. Primis noticed all of this but kept quiet.

'Canoe: I need to run before it's too late. But I can't because he is following behind. I can tell he is at least Level 3 because his sword was so fast that I didn't even see it when it cut my arm off. If I can't run, let's just hope he can handle that monster.'

So, they just continued going until they reach the stairs leading down to 10th Floor. Canoe took sigh of relief when he noticed no one was around.

'Canoe: Good. This means that monster must be on the 10th or deeper floor by now, so I am safe.'

Then Canoe turned back at Primis and put a smile on his face.

Canoe: These stairs will lead you to 10th Floor. That Pallum is there with Ged. A-As you know I must return to surface to re-attach my arm, I can't go down with you.

Primis: Fine.

Canoe: T-Thank You.

Ignoring Canoe thanks Primis walked past him. Currently, Canoe was cursing Primis inward.

'Canoe: I hope you just die by the hands of that monster along with that Pallum. Hmph.'

Then he snorted and turned back. Though, when he covered at least 10 meters of the distance. He heard Primis call again.

Primis: Wait.

Canoe become stunned and turned his head towards Primis like a robot.

Canoe: S-Sir, y-you promised me that you won't kill me.

However, instead of answering Primis dispersed in six Black Ravens with red eyes.

Kraa!!!

Canoe eyes opened wide as he saw Ravens flying in the air and circling him. Then Primis voice sounded again from the surrounding.

Primis: I always keep my words. Since I promise I won't kill you then I won't kill you.

Canoe took a sigh of relief.

Canoe: T-Thank----

Primis: But.

Canoe stopped again.

Primis: I won't save you either.

Canoe: Huh?

As Canoe was confused by what Primis means he heard voices behind him.

???: GRR!

???: RAWR!

Canoe turned his neck back and all color drain of his face. Behind him were countless monsters to even count. They were Goblins, Kobold, Dungeon Lizard, Frog Shooter, War Shadow, Killer Ants and so on. You could say all monsters that appeared from 1st-7th Floor were there.

Canoe: H-How...?

That's all he said before all monsters jumped at him and started to devour him. In truth, Primis had no intention of letting Canoe live. But he knew to find Lili faster he needed a guide who knew where Lili can be and with whom and which way she usually took. And since Primis knew that Canoe was a coward who bully weak and afraid of strong, he will ask Primis not to kill him in exchange of taking him where Lili is, so he fell for Primis scheme.

When Primis cut-off Canoe arm on 7th floor, he had already hidden his and Canoe presence from the monsters without him even realizing it. After that he put his severed arm in a bag which he brought from Twilight. Even though the bag looked fine, that bag has small holes which can't be seen by others if they don't do a proper check.

But Canoe only took a quick glance to confirm his arm inside. Because of these hidden holes, blood started dripping from the bag when he was leading the way. Because of blood, monsters started to get attracted towards it. However, since Primis had hidden both his and Canoe presence, they could only follow the trail of blood.

So, all monsters started to follow Primis and Canoe. Before Canoe could even realize it, Primis put him into his illusion making him believe that only Primis was following him. But in truth, all monsters from 7th- 9th Floor were following behind them. And when they reached the stairs leading to 10th Floor and Canoe started to go back, Primis stopped hiding his presence and remove the illusion he was placed on him. Which led to this result.

At this time, Primis was looking at the Canoe who was being devoured by the monsters. He was standing on the ceiling upside down, right by the stairs of 10th Floor.

Primis: You were dead the moment you met me. I hope you enjoy your last moment remembering how it feels like being eaten alive by the monsters.

Then Primis fell from ceiling gave one last glance at Canoe and went down the stairs leading to 10th Floor.
