Chapter 88: Unrelated to Surgery

Secretary Louie left the ward with worry, unable to object to the mayor's wife's request.

Caroline pulled up a chair and sat down.

She glanced at the man lying on the hospital bed, "He's about to wake up."

Blake looked over and saw Mayor Carlton's eyelashes trembling, seemingly a sign of awakening.

He nodded, "Yeah."

"Cough cough cough..."

The mayor slowly regained consciousness and saw that he was in the hospital. He smelled the pungent disinfectant, his eyes filled with relief.

Feeling weak, he looked at Caroline and Blake with sincere gratitude. "I owe my life to Director Fuller," he said wholeheartedly.

He knew his body well, and if not for Director Fuller's intervention, the tumor's pressure would have stimulated his nerves, causing his intelligence to plummet and likely resulting in dementia and cerebral palsy.

How could a mentally disabled person take care of himself, much less serve as the mayor of a city and serve the people?
