"Sigh... It's the end of the world."
"Huh!?" Akane stared at her old man with shock, she picked her ears but realized that it is clean. "How many grams did you take?"
"You brat! Why are you always implying that I am taking drugs!"
"Are you not?"
"You! sigh... ok take this." Hirohito passed Akane an hourglass.
"What's this?"
"Your mother's last memento." He looked at his children's eyes, with seriousness he spoke, "She is a God."
"You're really high, old ma..." Haru tapped her shoulder and stopped her. "Akane, feel the hourglass."
"Huh? Now that you mention it, it feels kinda... strange." then she continued. "As if it sucking something from me."
"So you two can feel something huh." after saying that he then put his hand inside his pocket and took out a stress ball.
"What's that old man?"
"Oh? this? Just my stress reliever." he then proceeded to squeeze the ball with his trembling hand.
"So?"
"So..." Hirohito is looking at the ceiling and spacing out.
"Hey!" seeing that her father is trapped in his own world she then rocked his shoulder back and forth.
"What!? Oh yeah... before your mother died she said some things to me. She said that she is a God and used to be the [Keeper and Guardian of Fate]. One day she got killed by the [One who goes Against Fate] and after killing your mother, he proceeded to sacrifice his body and power to just have a chance to transport his soul to an earlier timeline. Seeing she got killed and is somehow released from her duties, she thought that she can finally retire and enter the reincarnation cycle but wanted to experience the life of a mortal at least once. She found a galaxy that had its God recently died and decided to settle for a century."
"So where is the end of the world part there?" Akane suspiciously asked her father.
"Let me finish first!" Hirohito angrily retorted. "She then mentioned that this galaxy's barrier that has protected it from the exposure of mana can only hold for so long without the God supplying power to it. She also said that this galaxy is one of that God's experiments, he wanted to see how will a world without mana be. Now the problem is what will happen if the occupants of that galaxy are bombarded with a lethal element that they didn't have any contact with since their existence?"
"Mass extinction." said Haru.
"Yes, their bodies wouldn't even have time to adjust and just perish... well that's what your mother said."
"So you just believed what she said, just like that?" Akane said suspiciously.
"No, at first not. It all changed a month ago when those visions showed up, it reminded me of all of this information, let me see the future where the world will end and..."
"And?" Akane asked.
"...and where I have cancer." as he said that he looked at his side, eyes gazed the window, he took a deep breath and sighed. "Oh yeah! I almost forgot, be sure to keep that hourglass with you until the last grain of sand."
"Hey! What did you mean about you having cancer!" She angrily said.
"...It must've been her doing." he mouthed silently.
"What?"
"Don't forget the hourglass" he tactfully changed the subject.
"Uhmn... Father, why did you engaged Akane to the Tawagotos?" Haru tried to ask his father.
"Huh? What did you mean by that?"
"Ha? You didn't engaged her?"
"Yeah? Why did you even think that?" Hirohito is confused about the topic. "Oh, that kid must've been spreading rumors because when that one time he asked me about marrying Akane, I said I would like to meet his family and clan head first..."
While listening to their conversation Akane is already sweating profusely, she then tried to whistle but only spit came out of her mouth.
"Ok, I'm afraid my time is up already so this is a goodbye, it's been great having you both but she is already waiting for me and I don't want a shitty afterlife just because I'm late." he then pointed at the timer embedded in his stomach, 00:00:59.
"Run!"
