Chapter 66
On the next morning, Taria woke up in Tian's arms, feeling his cold fingertips touching her back, and his chest moving with every breath he took. His black hair was laying on the pillow while his necklace was laying on the bed sheets, yet they both gave her a feeling like the sun was rising again after years of darkness. She moved her fingers through his hair softly, then she slid them over his face, trying to make sure that he wasn't a dream, however, she whispered "I know you are awake, stop acting" after she felt his accelerating heart and saw his blushing face.
"I couldn't sleep at all, my heart didn't want to lose any moment with you", he said after he opened his eyes slowly, then he kissed her cheek softly saying "good morning, my queen"
"Good morning, my knight", she said with a warm smile that melted his heart, yet a knocking sound on the door forced him to get up even though he wanted to stay in her arms.
"WE ARE IN A HUGE TROUBLE", Dazai said once Tian opened the door, filling his heart with a bad feeling as the look in his eyes were like he never saw before
"Tian.. is everything ok?" Taria said after she wore her clothes and heard what the man said
"Oh, hello, young lady. My name is Dazai, and I'm your boyfriend's friend", Dazai said, walking past Tian and holding Taria's hand to kiss it after the worried look in his eyes disappeared quickly
"Hello, Dazai, nice to meet you", Taria said with a smile, yet Tian pulled Dazai closer to him and asked him to tell him what happened
"I ALMOST FORGOT, KAI IS…", Dazai said, then he stopped after seeing Taria's curious eyes and completed his words whispering in Tian's ears.
"Is Kai ok?" Taria said, yet both Tian and Dazai gave her a look of mixed worries and fears, making her chest tightened
Tian went to the room again, then he changed his clothes quickly and headed out of the apartment saying "I have to go, honey, but I will be back before midnight, love you, bye", Tian said, printing a soft kiss on her cheek, however, she grabbed his arm and stopped him from leaving
"What happened with Kai? Is Josephine safe?" she said, taking them as an excuse to not let Tian out as she was afraid he wouldn't come back just like last time. He realized by the concerned look in her eyes that she wasn't willing to not let him go, and his heart shivered as he blamed himself for her fears, so he patted her head softly and said "Change your clothes and come with us if that would make you at ease"
Tian, Taria, and Dazai went to the family mansion, yet the road took three hours only this time as Tian drove so fast after Taria approved he could do it for the sake of Josephine. When they finally reached the mansion, Taria could barely breathe and her face was pale as if her soul was leaving her body, so Tian held her hand while Dazai was running inside the house, wearing a long jacket that made him seem funny while running.
Taria and Tian followed Dazai until they reached a closed room where Kai and Ray were standing in front of the door
"Ray, Kai, what's going on?" Taria asked
"A strange woman left a baby at Kai's door saying he was his son, and aunt Josephine is inside with the baby", Ray said calmly, leaving his mother's jaw to drop
"A BABY! WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?" Taria said loudly, yet Tian held her hand, with a deep look in his eyes that gave her a feeling that what was going on was bigger than a small baby.
Taria walked through all of them calmly, then she knocked on the door saying "Phine, it's me, please open the door", yet Josephine didn't say anything. Taria stayed behind the door, waiting for Josephine to open, yet when she started losing hope, the door opened slightly and Josephine pulled Taria in then locked the door again.
"Shhh, the baby is sleeping", Josephine said calmly, creating hundreds of questions on Taria's mind
"What's going on? Is he really Kai's son?" Taria whispered
"You will know once you see him", Josephine said, then she dragged Taria closer to the bed to see a small baby with white hair sleeping peacefully.
Her heart shivered, yet the baby seemed so cute and helpless to the point only touching his soft skin would make it red. Taria looked back at Josephine who was staring at the child with a smile on her face, yet what she didn't understand was that her smile was so bright and filled with love, unexpectedly.
"Isn't he so cute? Just like a small Kai", Josephine said, touching the baby's face softly with the same warm smile that made Taria even more confused
"Josephine… are you ok?" Taria asked, holding her hand with a concerned look
"Of course I'm fine, I'm only trying to punish that brat. This baby is so innocent, I can't harm him even if he was the evidence of Kai's treason", Josephine said, and Taria knew that her words were honest, so she felt at ease.
After a while, Taria went out of the room, with a shocked look in her widely opened eyes. Tian ran towards her and grabbed her hands, yet the shocked look in her eyes didn't change
"She.. she.. poisoned the baby", Taria said, with a shaky voice that was barely understood
Everyone fell into a deadly silence, not knowing what to do or what to say, especially Kai who was the one responsible for all that.
Tian hugged Taria trying to comfort her, and Ray hugged her as well, forcing her to smile when she needed to keep a steady face. The way her son was surrounding her leg with his small body, and the way her lover was surrounding her neck with his arms made her heart dance happily, yet she knew it wasn't the time to get buried with family warmth. She walked towards Kai who was sitting on the ground unable to blink, then she squatted in front of him and said "was he.. really your son?"
"... Yes", Kai said after looking into Taria's sad eyes
"Why? how could you cheat on her when she never even looked at a man other than you?" Taria said.
Tian tried to stop her from investigating with him any more, yet Kai asked him to leave her as he wanted everyone to know the truth
"It was a mistake. That woman looked so similar to Josephine, and unfortunately, I was drunk that night to the point every woman seemed like her. I saw her face in every female I met during the past years, yet I never felt my heart beating fast for any of them, until that woman came, with the same black hair and blue eyes as my Josephine", Kai said, yet the look in Tian's and Dazai's faces were enough for Taria to realize that the sad part didn't came yet
"After I woke up on the next morning, I realized that I did a huge mistake, and I felt my soul burn as if I was being punished by hell…", Kai said, yet Josephine opened the door, holding the baby in her arms, and shouting "of course you would be punished by hell" in a low voice as she didn't want to wake the baby up.
She handed the baby carefully to Taria, then she walked towards Kai and slapped his face.
"Swear on your life that you would never lay a hand on any other woman", she said, and he did as she said as he was more confused than disobeying her
"The baby wasn't poisoned, yet I had fun seeing your shocked face, and that was enough for me", Josephine said
"Aren't you.. mad at me any more?" Kai said
"No, idiot. I know how you felt as I saw your face in every man I met too, so I forgive you", Josephine said with a bright smile
"What about the baby?" Kai asked
"We can call him ice as his hair is white, is that ok?" Josephine said, looking at the baby who was in Taria's arms with a warm look as if she was his own mother
Kai let out a laugh to get rid of the nervousness left in his body, then he hugged Josephine tightly, not knowing how to thank her for being in his life, and not willing to lose her again.
However, Taria was still feeling heavy about the look Dazai and Tian showed her a minute ago, so she asked Tian about it secretly as everyone else was around Josephine and the baby, yet his answer stabbed her heart hardly
"Kai… jumped off the seventh floor after waking up and remembering the night he spent with that woman. Dazai could barely heal him and his wound is still not completely healed as it got opened many times. Hell didn't punish him, he did"
