Chapter 3: I found You

Daniel's mood was somber as he walked towards his bike, his mind wrought with worry and mostly anger.

"Who the heck would be so bold as to recklessly hunt in a city without worrying about the consequences." He cursed to himself, anger slightly visible on his face. " The last thing I want right now is for Hunters to start poking their annoying noses here".

Daniel's mood was slowly morphing into one of anger as he reached his bike, causing a palpable and fierce aura to surround him causing anyone in his path to hurriedly move instinctively out of fear. He either didn't notice or cared little to bother to retract his aura.

He was about to leave when his nose twitched as he perceived a particular scent, a faint scent of a fellow shapeshifter, his eyes turned fierce as he turned his head in the direction of the scent. Daniel was unlike most wolves of his kind, being born on the night of the rare and elusive blood moon mutated his genes causing him to be a considerable degree stronger and faster than normal wolves, it also heightened all his senses to a higher degree at least for a young wolf which was why he was able to tell a shifter was present even though he was being bombarded by multiple other human scents.

His eyes narrowed as he focused on the scent trying to pinpoint the origin which was proving a challenging task even for him as the aura was thick with various human scents and sweat. He could have easily found the shifter if he switched to his wolf vision which would be a very bad idea considering he was surrounded by people.

"Eh, it's gone." He suddenly said as he noticed the scent had disappeared.

"He's probably hiding his scent now or he probably left a long time ago and I was only picking up on his residue scent, either way, this makes it more troublesome." He said with furrowed brows as he hopelessly tried to gleam with his eyes anything weird in the crowd.

He let out a silent sigh as he massaged his brows. " I guess I'll have to find it later, I'll head home for now." He said as he got on his bike. " The scent was definitely one of a rat, that I'm sure of."

Daniel started to formulate a plan in his mind as he drove off unbeknownst to him a pair of eyes were watching him from a distance far away.

The Wayne Mansion was a large building located in a secluded area of the city on the outskirts because his father purchased the surrounding land within a 100-meter radius because he could and he also gave a fake excuse about valuing privacy, Daniel had no qualms about it since he wasn't too keen on socializing with humans in the first place. His father, in the world of humans, was a rich businessman that dealt mainly with the importing and exporting of exotic and ancient artifacts which were mainly just junk found in the ruins of some monsters' abode or whatever useless stuff he brought back from the other side.

Daniel pulled up in front of the house and got off his bike to be welcomed by their guard dog and his pet.

*Bark* *Bark*

Laughing lightly, he opened his arms as a fully grown Siberian husky pounced on him causing them both to fall to the ground. It has black-white fur with deep blue eyes and was currently furiously licking his face.

"Alright alright, calm down Rufus." He laughed as he moved the dog off him. " Sheesh you've gotten heavier and you've got slime on my jacket." He said while rubbing its soft fur.

He slowly stood up and patted his clothes, in the distance the caretaker, butler, and friend, Thomas was waiting with a napkin in hand as if already anticipating such a scene. He laughed in his mind as he proceeded to the door.

"Welcome back Master Wayne, I hope you had a nice day." Thomas said with a slight smile on his face. He looked like a middle-aged man with a slightly lean figure and a face that radiated warmth. He had a reserved and gentle aura compared to Daniel's more fierce and erratic aura but then again looks were largely deceiving with most wolves but Thomas was really a nice person, probably one of the very few out there.

"Afternoon Thomas, School was fine." He said accepting the napkin and entering the house.

"I already had Zoe prepare the shower for you, and there's some leftover deer in the fridge if you're feeling peckish." Thomas said.

"Thanks Thomas, I'll take a shower first." Daniel said as he headed up the stairs. Halfway up, he suddenly turned around. " Did you know about the murders in the city?"

" Murders?"Thomas said with a slightly raised eyebrow. "No sir, I rarely pay attention to things that happen outside the mansion."

"I have reasons to believe a shifter is behind it." Daniel slowly said.

"I see, do you want me to deal with it sir." Thomas said.

"Don't worry yourself about it, I'll deal with it and I needed some exercise anyway" He said as he walked up the stairs.

"Very well sir." Thomas said with a thoughtful expression on his face. "I thought I told those rats to behave themselves." He said internally with a shake of his head. "They can only blame themselves now".

****Night of the same day***

A muffled shriek drifted through the air causing Daniel who was about to fall asleep to fully awaken. His eyes turned towards the window as he had an angered expression on his face.

"It still dared hunt again." He said as he grabbed a black coat he dropped earlier. "Hunters are definitely going to see a pattern if they haven't already"

He leapt out his window, landing softly on his bare feet despite jumping from the top floor, he turned his head to meet a pair of glowing blue eyes.

"Go to sleep Rufus, I'll be back soon." He softly said as he turned his head to his bike contemplating using it before he slowly shook his head.

"Forget it, I'll just run should be faster anyway." He said as his eyes gave off a yellow glow and with a growl, he dashed in the direction he heard the shriek.

On top of the roof, Thomas stared at his retreating figure with a pair of glowing red eyes.

Daniel's figure furiously tore through the woods, his figure leaving a blur as he approached the city in a matter of minutes. It was a slightly busy night as people and various vehicles could still be seen. This did nothing to deter his speed as without slowing down he dashed through the complicated structures speedily approaching his objective, as he steadily got closer a thick stench of blood assailed his senses further guiding him to a rundown alley in a somewhat secluded part of the city.

He came to a stop as he gazed upon a large furry creature feasting on the organs of a young woman, probably a high school teen from what he could see, well at least what remained of her.

His gleaming yellow eyes gazed at the figure with anger visible in them.

"I found you."
