BOUNCED

"Trent does not decide. He merely saves the moment. The patient is bounced to the next available place with the least witnesses." Jake tells me. He must see that I don't understand and therefor tries to explain better.

"You don't get bounced into someone else's life as a baby. That would upset the balance. But you cannot be bounced into another time in the state that you are in because that would only mean that you would bounce into another time and die anyway." I nod. This much makes sense.

"You bounce and end up as a child. But because you cannot be connected to anyone most bounced cases end up as orphans." Jake tells me. When he says the words orphans he opens his hands and indicates to me.

That's right. I have no memories of any parents. I have a memory of an aunt that struggled to take care of me. I was practically an orphan.

"So right now, Brent is somewhere, being a scared child." I ask Jake.
