Chapter 21
Police surrounded the house outside of course.
Making sure not to be seen.
Our parents are also hiding.
My sister and I are pretending to sleep.
I again watch as the mermaid swam to Lilly's room and then to mine.
We got to the place where he had all the children.
Where's the police, mother, and father?
"Jake I am scared."
I grabbed her hand.
"Don't be scared I am right here."
He put use in the cell with twenty other kids.
"Hi everyone, don't worry, the police are on their way."
"You will all be home with your families soon."
The kids didn't answer me.
I got closer to see that they were all sleeping.
I tried to wake one up but she didn't wake up.
"What's wrong with them?"
"I don't know but I bet we are next."
I got closer to Lilly.
"We will be saved soon don't worry."
"I hope so."
I closed my eyes, not wanting to know what will happen to us next.
I heard someone coming.
It's the boy.
"Jake it's him."
"Jake?"
He's like the other kids in a deep sleep.
"Don't worry you will soon be sleeping right along with them."
"For now here."
He gave me some food.
I didn't eat any of it.
Why hasn't anyone come to save us yet?
They should have been here by now.
I fell asleep and woke up to see the boy again.
"Hmmm."
"You're still awake and not asleep."
"Very interesting."
He gave me food again.
I am hungry.
This time I ate the food.
It tasted really good.
I prayed that mother and father would soon find us.
All of us.
I laid back down and fell asleep.
He's not hurting us.
So what does he want with us?
I woke up again and saw the boy looking in at me.
"Wow I am amazed."
"You're still awake."
The cell door opened.
He grabbed me.
"Please don't hurt me."
"Hurt you?"
"Heaven sake's I would never do such a thing to anyone."
"Then why are all of us here?"
"Why are they all sleeping?"
"That's not important right now."
"What are you going to do with me?"
"I want to know why you are still awake and not asleep like all the other children."
He put me in my own cell.
He gave me some water in a bottle.
"How come the others don't get to eat or drink?"
"They are all sleeping so nothing will happen to them."
"They will be fine."
He swam away without another word.
I have been in the cell for a week now.
I miss my family.
I am scared now that I am completely alone in a cell.
