Jack then tried to hurl the stone that his tentacle held. It flew across the ruin for up to fifteen meters with the current tentacle's strength.
He then decided to create one more stone again and tried to see if he could throw it even further. It reached a twenty eight meters range at full strength of the tentacle. Jack felt like he could throw the stone further but it seemed like it won't give any benefit of the doubt for the moment.
[Petra Tentacle has learned Throw.]
Jack tried to see if he could do the Partial Rock Layering ability again. It seemed like when a Mutated Ability evolved, it either regained or not inherited the former trait depending on its capability. In this case, it was the latter.
The Partial Stone Layering ability could be a great defensive and offensive capability but it would need some training to get it to affect more of his body parts.
"Now it only needs something to set it aflame." Jack snickered. "I feel like it could be some good firepower if I played with the right Mutagen."
[It will only be a matter of minutes until the Ignitor Fang gives its mutation.]
"I do wonder if I could upgrade the mastery faster though." Jack proceeded to gather the crystal fragments back onto his cradle. "The tentacle's ability would be underutilized if it kept evolving when meeting a certain criteria, but I'm sure that there will be a point where it gives me more demerits instead of benefits."
[It will be increased with more usage. The requirements and the amount of performance experimentation needed corresponds with the ability.]
"Oh welp, it will be a slow roll up onto the hill like always." Jack then finally gathered all of the visible fragments he could find. "I got all of the crystal fragments here, anything that you want to do?" He raised his eyebrows.
[I recommend using it as a Mutagen to replace the Rock. You could probably harness the same kind of weird energy of this world through the Mutated Ability of your tentacle when it finally acquires a mutation.]
"Now that you mentioned it." Jack opened the stats screen again, trying to see if there was anything that could be talked about. "I saw some of the interface changing overtime."
[With each information gathered through my strings, I'll constantly update the User Interface and the stats screen so that it will be easier for you to comprehend the progress and key-knowledge from it.]
"I really appreciate that then." Jack tried to see if there were large leaves somewhere outside of the ruin. He then wrapped the crystal fragments with an improvised container. "I'm currently waiting for the Rock Mutagen to give my tentacle something. I'll replace it with the magicky stuff afterwards."
His eyes were upon the giant yawned door. He wanted to begin the exploration but he felt like it would be a bad idea to rush things too early.
Leaving the crystal fragments on a secret spot near the ruin, he then decided to go back to his former camp. It would take half an hour before Jack reached there but it was worth the trouble considering that he had some pelt and a couple of materials that he could turn into something.
Using a different and faster route, he glimpsed numerous weird creatures and plants that may or may not kill him when he got into the vicinity. Such as walking green humanoid with tusks and armor, four meters wide carnivorous plant, wandering giant ghost, and more. Continuing his journey, he decided to stay away from them.
As Jack began to get used to travelling via the tree branches like a hyper primate on drugs. Thanks to the strong suction power of Petra Tentacle, it made his life easier than it was supposed to.
Jack checked his stats within this world to see if there were any changes on the numbers and abilities. Considering that appraising something that had been appraised won't waste a charge, he could check his own stats as much and anytime he wanted.
[< < < < < < < < < < < "Huh, it did go up pretty nicely, too fast even. Is it because of that giant truffle I ate back then?"
[Seems likely, your body would probably grow and mature faster if you kept consuming materials with rich benefits. Not to mention, everything within this world was surprisingly rich in protein and vitamins_
[With your stomach digestion, you could probably make use of it to the fullest.]
"Stop calling it 'material'." Jack frowned in disgust. "I want to taste something good once in a while, and it would probably be called 'food'."
Few minutes left before he arrived at the designated glade, the tentacle connected to his tailbone sparked a huge amount of flame.
[Petra Tentacle has acquired one new Mutated Ability>>
[Fire Igniter {M1}: A mutation that gives the tentacle the ability to create a spark using a produced active chemical. Will let the host do the same thing when attached as a body part.]
"It's flaming!"
Jack's face was indecisive on showing a surprised expression, awed expression, or scared expression, resulting in a huge lag before he strongly wagged his tentacle to put the fire out.
"I might be a fighter, a strategist, and other more title of achievement that I've collected before I got sealed, but I'm certainly not an alchemist," he said while grinning as he slapped and wiped his flammable kerosene-mucus coated tentacle, resulting in his hand getting set aflame. "How do I put out this thing!?"
[Good question.]
