"So the duke has been working with this black magician and chimera maker?"
"Yes."
"And you defeated them both with one slash?"
"Yes."
"I expect no less from my master."
So says Elaine while looking at me with glittering eyes.
Apparently their group knew that Agatha was a chimera maker when they were attacking her hideout, but what they didn't know was that she was related to the people of this underground base, nor did they know of the existence of Wanfi that was related to the disappearances of the academy.
Beside that there was also a little misunderstanding.
"Amazing master! So you found their base and infiltrated it?!"
"Uhh...Yeahhh..."
So I said nervously. I can't bring myself to tell her that I let myself get kidnapped and somehow ended up in this place.
At least not when she's looking at me with eyes like those.
"So will you be heading back to the dorms master?"
Well I'm kinda interested in exploring the place, even though it seems like it's gonna come down any second now.
But I'm sure it's fine.
"No, I think I'll stay here for a bit."
"Just remember to inform the professors of the academy."
"At your command."
Elaine bows and signals her team to leave.
They are going to be starting an investigation regarding the black magicians of the country and the duke. Apparently they already have some leads regarding the shady movements of the duke, but they couldn't pin point exactly what it was. Now with this situation in front of them it's made it clear that the duke is colluding with black magicians for a certain goal.
"This is rubbish. This is also rubbish. This is definitely rubbish."
I say while rummaging through the black magic tools present in the base. Why the hell do they have so many useless junk here?
This base was actually larger than I initially thought it was, after wandering around it for about 10 minutes, I found a secret room and inside it was all sorts of interesting artifacts. But it's a shame most of them are either useless trash or meant for ceremonial purposes.
Hmm? So this is where the demonic energy was coming from.
I stare at the small metallic trap door covered in all sorts of enchantments. Whatever it was under here, Wanfi must've wanted it hidden.
I lowered my body and put my hand over the trap door.
"Dispel."
Strands of mana flew out of the trap door and a huge gust blew from it.
I opened the small trap door inside the secret room and climbed down the tiny little ladder.
The energy so faint that even Elaine didn't sense it. But it's definitely there, if I'm correct it should be "that" race.
It was a small, damp and dark room. Actually it shouldn't even be called a room, more like a tiny cave. The only thing that wasn't rock in this place was the ceiling. I kinda surprised he has a secret room inside a secret room.
But I'm more surprised that this place is still even standing stemming from the destruction above.
[Flick]
I turn on the switch that was on the left wall and the room brightened as I walked towards the center of the room.
Yea, this place does seem virtually untouched compared to the wreckage above. That guy must've really used a mass of spells to reinforce this place.
As the light illuminates the back of the room, I mutter to myself.
"Looks like I'm right."
Long silver silky hair that resembled snow, soft dark beautiful skin that seemed endlessly smooth and pointy ears like those of an elf.
"A dark elf."
I've had the pleasure of meeting one of them in the past.
It was when I was training in the Pelunia forest after I met Elaine...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Where do you think you're going?"
Asks the muscular man as he delivers a punch.
The man with dark skin and long hair that he was chasing dodges his attack perfectly as he sidestepped before speeding away again.
"I can't fight here. Even though it's a forest, there's still too many of them."
"I must go back to the village."
The man thinks as he picks up his speed once again, dashing past several other enemies that seem to be donning blades.
But just then, out of nowhere, he is met with another fist.
[SMASH!]
The punch landed on the side of his abdomen and he stops in his tracks.
The enemy in front of him had delivered a fatal punch, luckily for him, he somehow anticipated the attack and managed to maneuver it towards the side such that it only broke a few ribs.
"Urgh!"
The dark skinned man takes a step back, pressing onto the wound he just received.
He looks around to observe the situation.
Front, left, right. People started jumping down from trees. All of them were laughing with a mocking tone.
"There were this many of them?!"
The man thought with regret. He regretted the fact that he thought they were only a few of them. He regretted the fact that he underestimated them.
But the thing he regretted the most is the fact that he would not be able to return to his village.
Footsteps emerged from behind him and now, there is virtually no escape for him as all sides are covered with enemies.
The muscular man rushes towards him from behind.
He dodges the first time, but because of the attack he received earlier, he is caught by the muscular man by the hair.
[SMASH!]
A direct hit to the stomach.
The dark skinned man throws up blood as he struggles to get away from the muscular man.
[SMASH!]
This time, a direct hit to his head.
He falls to the ground on his side as he stares at the muscular man squatting down.
The muscular man smiles and the dark skinned man eyes' start to waver as he loses consciousness.
"Is this it?"
The man thinks to himself.
The man wasn't scared of death.
At this point in time, the only thing he was scared of was that his villagers would get kidnapped, and sold as slaves.
"Hehehe."
He could only hear the chuckles of the enemies around him.
It was hell. It was absolutely hell. Hearing the laughs of the enemies made him think of the situation the villagers would be in. All the future despair they would have to endure, the pain, the agony.
He channeled all those thoughts into his strength as he clenches his fist tightly and tries to get on his two feet.
[STOMP]
"ARGHH!"
The muscular man's foot nailed him down towards the ground as he repeatedly tries he best to stand.
At the fifth time, his energy runs out and he drops to the floor. His eyes are getting hazier by the second. He sheds a tear, knowing he failed.
"I'm sorry everyone."
But just then he hears noises. His ears were failing but he could somewhat hear them.
"What! Where did th-"
"Arghhh!"
"Nooo!"
He uses the last of his energy to peer at the scene unfolding in front of him.
A jet black stream.
It was quick, flashy and a young boy?!
Those were his last thoughts before passing out.
