The vow they made eons ago

"The vow the Parakirt tribe made in the past, the promise our founder made hundreds of years ago was in the form of a prophecy."

So says Lyndis in an earnest tone.

At-present we are inside the guest house listening to Lyndis explaining the history of the dark elf tribe.

"Lyndis are you sure it's oka-"

"It's all right, I'm sure you are thinking about it too."

Lyndis cuts off the guide and continues talking.

The guide retreats by taking a step back before bowing. She opens the door and gets ready to exit.

"Then I'll watch the door."

She says while stepping out.

"Before I tell you what the prophecy is, I must let you know of the two rulesets that we follow in our tribe."

She lifts her arm while extending her index finger.

"The first ruleset is by the founder of the tribe. It contains the traditions and regulations we follow even now. With them, we have been able to survive even the most troublesome of times."

"Then there is another."

She extends her middle finger.

"This ruleset is by the the person who helped established the tribe along side our founder."

Oh?

"Our ancestral founder was from a nation known as Kursia."

"It was a kingdom where all races lived, and was also the place where aurors were respected more than mages."

Kursia? Then the Parakirt tribe are descendants of the ancient kingdom? Come to think of it, those ancient words that I saw on the Licuz's sash...

Didn't they look like Kursia's forgotten language?

"When our ancestral founder, the first chief of the Parakirt tribe formed the tribe a thousand years ago, he had help from another person."

"Others in the tribe were never told the specifics since it was top secret, only those who are highly respected within the tribe know of this but since I'm the daughter of the chief it was knowledge passed on to me naturally. As for why I'm telling you this..."

Lyndis looks towards the ground.

"You will know in a bit."

"Back then, the Kursia kingdom had just fallen, but our ancestor who didn't want to leave his homeland even after the disaster created a safe haven for his own kind known as Parakirt at a nearby forest."

The Kursia kingdom disaster. The ancient kingdom who once boasted the strongest aurors on the continent got reduced to nothing in a mere five years. I've read about it after finding that book about the nation. But there wasn't anything else regarding how the kingdom fell, just how long it took for it to fall.

"The person helped build the foundation of the Parakirt tribe, which is the reason why our tribe still stands today."

"On top of that, the man handed two artifacts to our founder, both of which are incredibly powerful."

"The first one is a portable illusion array."

"It has helped keep us hidden from the world as well as the dangers in the Etelia forest."

So the illusion array artifact came from the founder's helper huh.

"The second one was a sword."

"Unfortunately, we weren't able to get it out from the village when the wyvern attacked."

"Truth be told, no one in our tribe has been capable of pulling that sword out from the ground. It has been sitting in a secret tunnel below the chief's house back in the old village for close to a thousand years."

"That person left the sword to our founder saying it would be pulled out by someone in the future."

Hmmm. So it's another high ranked artifact I presume.

Being able to take out high rank unique artifacts and give it to strangers, that mysterious helper is really rich huh.

But not being able to take it out?

Does it only respond to some sort of mana? Or is it that the weight of the artifact is just that insane.

"And that someone...That someone..."

Lyndis hesitates and lowers her head before speaking.

"And he said that someone would be one who will teach us how to control the power within us, and would be able to lead us to newer heights."

Wait...doesn't that sound familiar?

"That person soon left the newly established tribe, asking our ancestor to take care of the sword until someone worthy arrived."

"The vow our founder made, the promise tying us to this place and the reason why we are still deciding to kill the wyvern instead of giving up."

"All of it, is because of this vow made long ago."

So that's how it is.

I was wondering where that high ranked illusion array came from. So it's an ancient artifact by a mysterious man.

And that mysterious man predicted someone someday would be able to pull out the sword he left behind and lead the Parakirt tribe to new heights.

How interesting.

I wonder if it was an actual prophecy or just a coincidence. I want to believe it's the latter because I hate my actions being determined beforehand like some prophecy or fortune-telling.

But all the evidence points to the former. That must also be the reason why Licuz asked us to be treated like "honored guests" as well.

In his eyes, I must be the one the legend spoke of.

The helper of the founder knew about demonic energy.

Am I not the only reincarnator?

And if so, did he know I would reincarnate here?

Well, with all this in mind I think getting the elders to agree to my offer should be pretty easy then.

But there's just one thing I'm really curious about.

"That sword. What kind of sword is it?"

"Um...I don't really know much about it."

"I have not seen it once before, despite it being right under where I live. The secret tunnel is only available to the chief and other high ranking governors of the tribe."

Says Lyndis in a disappointed voice..

"Then is there nothing you can tell me?"

"Well...I've heard that the sword looks just like a regular sword but emits absurb amounts of mana to whoever approaches it."

"That's all the information I have."

I guess that about all she could have told me.

"I'll take my leave now."

Lyndis bows and leaves the room.

"What do you guys think?"

I turn to Jargon and Zalfious to ask for their opinions.

"I believe that prophecy may be true."

Says Zalfious in a solemn voice.

If I remember correctly, Zalfious's village also dabbled in some fortune-telling which detailed their demise by the splint eater. But no one took it to heart before it was too late.

I guess it makes sense for him to be on guard when faced with yet another prophecy.

"I share the same opinion as sir Zalfious."

Says Jargon with a serious face.

Looks like they both think it's true.

But about that sword. I wonder what rank it could be.

Since the illusion array should be around upper unique grade the sword should be around the same as well. Or could it be even higher?

If I could get my hands on a legendary artifact that'd be great. I could maybe even smelt it back into materials to use for the four pillars' weapons. Just thinking about it makes me excited.

"Stop you can't go into this house."

A faint voice could be heard from the outside.

It's the guard lady from just now.

"Sir Rolan is in here right? Just let me in."

A familiar voice.

"You can't enter. Even if it's you, you can't. The chief told me not to let anyone in."

The guard lady sounds firmer than before.

"Uncle?"

That's Lyndis. And "uncle"?

A few more seconds of quarrelling pass before screaming could be heard.

"AHHH! Let me go!"

"No! You can't enter."

"I know sir Rolan just let me-"

[Boom!]

The door slams open and two people fall through.

One of them was the guard lady, who was busy tying someone to the ground with their hands behind their back. And the other was...

"Sir Rolan!"

It's Aire isn't it?

Aire tries his best to glance at me while being pinned down on the ground.

"I'm sorry honored guests this guy-"

"It's okay."

"Just release him."

"Understood."

The guard lady releases Aire and stands back up before walking out the door once again. Lyndis stares at us from beyond the door before bowing and following the guard lady.

Inside the room, Aire stands up and starts wiping away the dirt that got on his outfit. He finishes and looks up to me.

"Long time no see sir Rolan!"
