Curses, it's filled with them!

There were several curses that filled the wyvern's body, but the strongest one was this.

The petrification curse.

I barely recognized it because it was so different to the petrification spells I knew off, but I'm sure that's it. It wasn't identifiable during the fight, but since the bearer of the curse is now dead, it is now revealing its true form.

The petrification curse, as the name suggests, places the victim in a trance-like state and turns the surrounding layer of their body to stone, creating an effect that looks as though they themselves have been turned to stone.

The victim would be trapped in this state for as long as the spell lasted, never to age.

A petrification curse is extremely hard to pull off because of its intricate requirements and control. But despite this, the curse in front of me is no doubt of a different level even compared to high ranking petifications.

The caster must be exceptionally talented in hexes and curses, not to mention must have had a rank superior to a grandmaster.

It's a complete anomaly. Even someone like me wouldn't be able to pull this kind of technique off. Petrification curses are at most able to last for a few hours to several days at most. But despite that being the case, the one in front of me could last centuries, if not a whole millennia.

Piecing all this information together, this wyvern king right here may be from an ancient time. Possibly from the same period as the Kursia kingdom.

It seems this spell has only recently been dispelled. After doing a little more digging I found out that the time the curse was lifted coincided exactly when the dark elf village was attacked: a few months ago.

This would solve the issue of how it came to the Etelia forest. It didn't arrive, it just didn't leave.

It also makes sense that the wyvern king couldn't gather enough energy since it was just released from a thousand year prison.

Next up were a few other restrictions. These ones were meant to activate after the petrification was dispelled.

Hmmm. A body restriction curse and a mana restriction curse.

Were these the reasons why the wyvern was so weak during our fight? It couldn't gather enough mana because of this on top of the already powerful petrification curse it was just released from. And the body restriction curse must've prevented it from using its wings.

"Hah."

I let out a sigh while gathering my thoughts.

Up next were many other different curses, they weren't that significant, but still posed quite effect. Vision interference, sense disruption and a few other curses.

There was even a communication interference curse. This must be the reason why it couldn't talk despite being a high ranking mana creature.

"Hmm? This is."

Amidst going through the body I came across a relatively new spell in a sea of curses.

"A tracking spell? And it seems to be very recent as well."

"It's still active which means that the caster is still alive. Did someone manage to escape from this guy? It does make sense since he's weakened."

"Let's just remove this."

I pour mana into the body to dispel the tracking spell.

I retracted my arm and walked towards the front of the corpse.

"What a waste."

I let out a sigh while eyeing the burnt and corroding body of the wyvern. It looks like it's going to be swallowed up soon.

And just then a lightbulb lit up above my head.

Wait, wait, wait. There's something I've always wanted to try. It should be perfect with this high ranked mana beast's body.

"Blade, come forth."

As I utter those words, a shadowy, jet black sword forms in my right hand.

I flip it over while still grasping the handle, pointing the tip of the sword to be directly over the dead wyvern's head.

"If this works, it would really be a perfect endeavor."

At that moment, I plunge the sword directly into the wyvern's forehead causing an unprecedented result.

Strands of black mana pulled the head closer to the body and connected them together. Shortly after, a chain reaction began to spread throughout the entire corpse.

More strands of black mana and shadows could be seen entering and exiting the body at an extreme speed as though they were graciously taken in only to be forcefully expelled moments later.

"Oh?"

The lifeless body writhes by itself, shaking and squirming left and right as I continue to curiously eye the body.

Just then.

My sword that I had been gripping casually starts to moves by itself, pushing itself further and further into the wyvern's head.

Since Blade was made out of shadows, it had simply converted itself back into its original form which allowed it to assimilate with the dead wyvern's body.

I slowly release the hilt of the weapon and step back to watch it instantaneously be absorbed into the body.

I immediately touch the head of the corpse once more before closing my eyes to focus on what was happening within the body.

A three-way fight between my shadow pet Blade, the curses that filled the wyvern king's body and the residual mana left behind by the wyvern itself was ensuing.

"Hoh?"

The residual mana immediately got consumed by the other two. Not surprising though, given it was the weakest out of the three energies.

A few moments pass and it seems like a clear winner is about to be decided: the curses are slowly but surely taking over.

But I'm not about to let that happen.

"Demonic energy, release."

So I say with a smirk on my face.

In that instant, a huge surge of demonic energy plagues the surrounding causing the entire atmosphere to darken. The energy rushes into the body of the wyvern king at extreme speed and dyes the already corroding body in complete black.

But the change in appearance wasn't the only thing that was happening. Within the body, the struggle for control was quickly overturned due to my injection of demonic energy.

Think about it like two people having a match of tug of war, no matter how strong the other person is, when faced with unlimited stamina, he is bound to lose. That is what is happening within the body right now.

I'm making up for my lack of strength with pure stamina alone.

Now. This match shouldn't take much longer to end.

As a continuous stream of demonic energy quickly enters the body from my fingertips and palm, the previously overpowering power from the curses soon start to deteriorate due to their ancient origins.

Even if the person who casted this was an archmage, it would be bound to begin dissipating after a thousand years!

And then finally...

"Woah."

So I say whilst taking a step back to observe my new creation in all its glory. I wipe off my sweat and could say nothing but just stare in silence for a few seconds.

In all my four lives, I had never been able to accomplish it, at least not one this flawless.

The corroding immediately stops and I stare at the head of the corpse slowly put itself back together with its body using thick strands of demonic energy. The body starts to twitch as huge creases start to form on the body, revealing the black demonic energy stored underneath.

As I stare at the creature in front me slowly pick itself up, I couldn't help but be simply amazed.

The creature faces me and looks down, allowing me to clearly see all its features.

The previous white scales have become pure black. The previously blue wings have become grey. The previously sharp blue eyes have become dark grey. And the previously hostile icy mana was nowhere to be seen, only demonic energy could be felt flowing out of it.

It seems everything about it has changed, from head to tail. But even so, one could still tell it was a wyvern from its features.

"Blade."

[WRYYYYYY!]

As I call out, the revived wyvern king responded with a thunderous roar.

"Looks like it was a success."

I couldn't help but strike a huge grin while looking at the creature in front of me.

"Necromancy. A perfect one without any flaws."
