The Komodo Dragon and Daoist are going to meet head-on, but Daoist didn't release a single shot from his SMG yet. As they almost collided, Daoist changed his trajectory towards the wall on Wilson's side. The Komodo Dragon continued to give chase towards him.
Approaching the wall, Daoist raised his SMG backward and released a few shots that each hit the Komodo Dragon's head. Even though no damage was done to the skin, hitting its head multiple times forced the Komodo Dragon to close its eyes for protection.
Daoist performed a wall run, jumped back, and landed gracefully in the middle of the cage, while the Komodo Dragon knocked itself on the wall.
Seeing the Komodo Dragon stunned from the knock, Betty waved her fist down twice, opening a door on the wall on Ryland's side and another door right in front of the stunned Komodo Dragon's head.
Ryland, O'kuyo, White Boy, and Razor immediately got inside the cage. They saw Daoist in a shooting position in the middle of the cage and the Komodo Dragon on the side of the wall.
Suddenly, behind the Komodo Dragon's head, they saw a big shiny metal moving towards it. It was Erac Wilson, with a Mercurial Tower Shield on his left and a shining knight lance on his right.
With a blink of an eye, Wilson struck his lance straight to the head of the stunned Komodo Dragon, knocking it a few feet back.
Though no damage could be seen on the skin, it seemed that strike had dealt a concussion blow to that giant lizard.
Ryland was impressed by the performance shown by Wilson. "Should I approach and perform the contract now?" asked Ryland to O'kuyo as he walked slowly towards the Komodo Dragon.
"I don't know, but I think this is a chance we shouldn't let go. Let's go together. I'll cover for you," replied O'kuyo. They both moved slowly to the front of the Komodo dragon's head. Wilson and Daoist also followed from their own direction.
"Careful, kids," Betty reminded them as she carefully observed from her way up.
In front of the Komodo Dragon's head, Ryland pointed his staff and closed his eyes, getting ready to perform the contracting ritual. Suddenly, White Boy shrieked from above. Ryland opened his eyes, jumped a few steps back, and shouted, "Daoist, its tail!"
Hearing that, Daoist quickly turned to look at the Komodo Dragon's tail. To his surprise, the Komodo Dragon already whipped its tail right in his direction. With his nimble feet, Daoist managed to slightly evade the attack by jumping a few steps back, but the tail still managed to hit the SMG on his arms, crashing it and disarming him.
Then, the Komodo Dragon opened its eyes and lunged forward towards Ryland, trying to bite him. O'kuyo came to the rescue as he slashed the face of the Komodo Dragon from the side, making it lose its target. Frustrated by that, the Komodo Dragon tried to bite O'kuyo instead.
O'kuyo's quick movement helped him escape that attack. But the Komodo Dragon didn't stop. It kept on attacking O'kuyo with a fury of bite attacks. Betty tried to help by creating a wall to split the Komodo Dragon and O'kuyo apart.
By this
time, Ryland could see Daoist already heading back to his wall, probably trying to get other guns. His ability, "Little Gunslinger," only effective with small guns on his hands. In the meantime, Erac Wilson was running towards the Komodo Dragon. As he ran, Ryland could see strings of liquid Mercurial from outside of the wall, probably from the barrel Erac Wilson placed earlier. The Mercurial string quickly gathered on Wilson's torso, arms, thighs, legs, and head, forming a full set of a shiny knight armor on his body by the time he reached the Komodo Dragon.
Wilson changed the lance to his favorite type of weapon, a hammer. He took a large step and jumped, performing a jumping smash with his hammer right on the Komodo Dragon's head.
Despite the pain from that strike, the Komodo Dragon managed to turn and slash its claw to Wilson. With his full-face knight helmet on and the big tower shield on his front, Wilson's sight was now limited. He couldn't see the claw coming from the side, and the slash got him on the torso.
Wilson was blown to the side but still managed to land gracefully. He looked at the damage on his armor. Luckily it was just a shallow scratch on his skin. As he stood up, the damaged part on his torso was fixed by the Mercurial he morphed from a part of his tower shield.
Suddenly, the Komodo Dragon was already right in front of him, ready to bite. But, out of nowhere, Ryland rushed in front with his Summoning Staff glowing, giving out a stunning flash that hurt the eyes of everyone watching. Except Ryland and his summons, everyone around including the Komodo Dragon, closed their eyes as they felt the blinding flash.
Daoist entered just in time as the flashing light stopped. He didn't know what happened, but he could see that O'kuyo, Wilson, the Komodo Dragon, and even Betty from way up outside of the cage compound were stunned by something. He looked at Ryland grabbing Wilson's arm and pulling him to the side.
Daoist quickly moved to O'kuyo to get him away from the Komodo Dragon's tail whip range. The nimble feet of Daoist and O'kuyo made their movement discreet. But the heavy Mercurial armor worn by Wilson was clanking around as Ryland took him away.
Ryland had moved pretty far away from the Komodo Dragon. As he walked away, he turned his head and saw that the Komodo Dragon was struggling to move around because of the blinding effect of the flash from his Summoning Staff. Suddenly, he noticed that the Komodo Dragon started to focus on the sound of Wilson's armor clanking. He stopped Wilson from moving and noticed that the Komodo Dragon also stopped moving. Ryland just got an idea.
"Mr. Wilson, I can't imagine your pain right now, but the Komodo Dragon was also blinded by the flash like you. I have an idea, but I need to know something first," Ryland asked Wilson.
Wilson, wiping tears from his eyes, replied, "Ask away, kid. I hate this lizard already."
"Okay. Ms. Betty can make the soils rock solid. But can she also make it soft, like quicksand, a muddy quicksand?" asked Ryland.
"Oh, I get what you are trying to do. But kid, why don't you just ask Betty by yourself. You still have the comm piece, stupid," Wilson responded.
"Oh," Ryland responded as he touched the comm piece near his ear. Ryland let go of Wilson's hand and started talking into the comm piece. "Alright, everyone, listen up. Your sight will be okay in another 30 seconds, but the Komodo Dragon, who took the flash head-on, will take another 30 seconds more to recover. So, I got a plan, but it will need to commence right after you all have regained your sight. So listen up!"
