Over The Pier

She walked confidently towards the ATM lobby with her head held high and her bag securely held in both hands. 

She slipped her debit card into the ATM in order to make a withdrawal, and while she waited for the money to be dispensed, she took one last look around the banking lobby.

Maurice stood up from his desk and stretched before going to make coffee. Because of the volume of unresolved cases he had to sift through, he was exhausted, and he hoped, more than anything else, that he didn't have to go to work. 

He stood there next to the coffee machine when he had a beep on his machine. 

"Fuck!" The work is never done," he muttered as he made his way toward his laptop computer. 

When he received the notification, his eyes grew extremely wide in astonishment. Struggling to catch his breath, he immediately extracted the walkie-talkie from the pocket on his chest, hit a button, and began speaking.
