Blind to Your Own Evil

"I called you, sir. There are two hit men who are going to kill a middle-aged man in the woods. You need to stop them," Cheryl said while panting.

"How are you so sure of that?" One officer asked, and in frustration, Cheryl ran her hands through her hair and said, "I'll tell you all you want to know but first, get to those men. You have to save Carey. He is… he is the boyfriend of my sister. Please."

"Okay," one officer said with hesitation and asked one of his colleagues to stay with Cheryl.

"There are big footsteps here. They must have gotten in through here," one officer said as he called on the other three to follow him.

They moved stealthily into the forest with their rifles pointing in the direction of the sky. They came to a minor detour and paused while they searched for footprints in the sand.

"They headed right. Come this way," one officer communicated to the others through his walkie-talkie.
