Chapter 19

If on the side of the inn Anais and Chelsea are in a blood of ink for their friend, Kelly as for her is rather well pampered. It's been over three hours since the sun rose, but she's still sleeping soundly. Joey, who has cooked her a nice breakfast, is sitting across from her, waiting for her to wake up. However, being uncovered, she sleeps like a starfish. Opening her eyes a little later, she jumps when she sees the young man in the room, his eyes fixed on her.

- Hi, did you sleep well?

- Hello, she says, covering herself.

- How's your foot?

- I don't know what you did with it, but I don't feel any pain.

- I'm glad to hear that.

- How long have you been?

- No, about five minutes. I was actually bringing you your breakfast. Certainly, I saw, but I'm not going to hurt you either...

- What did you see? Kelly wonders.

- Your vagina is out of your panties... Can't you feel it?

Passing her hand under the duvet, Kelly checks Joey's statements and, to her great surprise, she finds that he is right. Becoming shameful, she tries to hide under her quilt while the young man does not give the impression of wanting to leave the room.

- Can't you see that I'm uncomfortable? It would be nice if you left the room.

- There's no reason to be uncomfortable, come on! I've seen vaginas, you know? It's not such a brilliant idea to hide for so little. On the contrary, it must be beautiful outside. Let's take the opportunity to go for a walk!

- You have a funny way of cheering up a girl, but it works. Do you think I could walk?

- Use the cane... Anyway, we're in no hurry. Even if your foot doesn't hurt, it's still fragile right now.

- It's true... I would have loved to take a shower...

- You can take one!

- Yes, but if I do, I'm going to rinse my bikini and, while waiting for it to dry, I won't have anything to wear.

- A bikini is supposed to dry quickly. You could even let it dry on you. On the other hand, you should know that there are my little sister's clothes that have remained here, well, a good part of them. You could try to find one that fits you, although I doubt it; she is sixteen years old and she is shorter than you. It might be tight...

- no point in me trying then.

- Otherwise, three thousand meters from here, there is a village where there are shops. You could come in and help yourself!

- That, on the other hand, I like. Can we go there without fear?

- Of course! Why do you think it won't?

Kelly signals to him with her eyes her firearm which is not very far away.

- Ah, that... It's only a security measure.

- What's going on here.

- You're in Greenland.

- No! Kelly stops him. You can't be serious! What happened here?

- Global warming got the better of us. With the storms that form successively near our home, the water level increases every year and the island shrinks more and more. Two weeks ago, we were the victim of a violent storm. Over fifty percent of the island was submerged. There were even deaths. As a result, our Prime Minister took the decision to evacuate the island. There were no other choices anyway.

- Ouch! It must be hard going through something like that.

- Yes, it's very hard, especially having to leave a place where we grew up.

- You tell me you have a little sister. I see that she is not there. In that case, why didn't you leave either?

- Because my grandfather didn't want to leave. He lived his whole life on this island, my grandmother was buried here and he didn't want to leave. So, I made the decision to stay with him.

- Ah, it's really nice to have done that.

- There are a few elderly people who have made the decision to stay. Somehow, I understand them. They have sacrificed a lot to get to where they are today and they are being asked to go live in the unknown. It is very likely that I would have done the same.

- It's true that I would have done it too. It's not easy to leave everything behind. Myself, I miss my island.

- It's true.

- Well, now that I think about it, I haven't seen your grandfather. He is not there?

- He died yesterday morning...

- Oh, the meatball... Kelly puts her hands in front of her mouth. I'm really, really, really sorry Joey. I did not know.

- Don't worry, it's fine. By the way, he was the one I was burying when I met you.

- Oh okay! I thought it seemed weird that you were burying something on a desert island. You didn't seem affected. Suddenly, I did not realize that you had just lost a member of your family.

- He was one hundred and three years old. I was prepared for him to go. The fact that you were there helped me somewhat not to feel alone.

- We didn't talk much though...

- It's true, but just knowing that there was someone there comforted me. I hope you won't take it badly, but I stayed by your side while you slept...

- Ah... It's weird.

Kelly is somewhat embarrassed.

- I see that I'm making you uncomfortable once again. I am sorry for that. In fact, this is the first time that I have received such a pretty girl at my house.

- You're not going to hurt me I hope...

- No! the young man immediately takes it back. I will never hurt you.

- I hope so...

- I would have done it already if I wanted to hurt you. Would you like to eat something before we set off?

- Oh yes! Excuse me, you've been standing with the tray for a long time.

Kelly straightens up and takes the tray from Joey's hands before placing it on her legs.

- Wow! Where did you find all these fruits? she asks him looking at the bowl of salad. Looks super appetizing to me.

- I hope you like it. Even the orange juice is homemade.

- You take very good care of me, I see…

Kelly starts to eat. Moments later, she is suddenly lost in thought, which the young man immediately notices.

- What's wrong?

- Does it show that much?

- Is the food not good?

- Oh, yes! She is super good. In fact, I just thought about our current situation. I am very well received, very well treated and I realize that my girlfriends are out there. They had to sleep outdoors. Did they have to eat? I have no idea... I would love for them to be here with me, but I doubt they would be interested in seeing me again.

- Why do you say that? Joey sits on the bed.

- We had an argument over a disagreement. At first, I agreed with one. It hurt the other. Now, the other in question was not wrong in his actions. I argued with the first because she was wrong and was rebuffed by the other. So, I found myself alone. That's why I found myself strutting around in the forest.

- Ah, I understand better. Now you miss your friends.

- Exactly, she replies, lowering her eyes.

- Do you want me to go get them?

- Would you do that?

- Of course! You can tell you miss them.

- There are eight of us on the beach. As long as you ask them to come, the others will come too...

- It doesn't matter. As long as you're happy, that's fine with me. We'll find a way to house them all.

- Are you really going to do that?

- Of course, I will. I want to see you happy...

- Well, if you continue to treat me like that, I will be happy for sure!

- I intend to. Where are they?

- Where your grandfather is buried, you go straight to the beach and, once there, you turn left and walk along the beach. You should see them about two hundred yards away.

- Okay. I set off. While I'm gone, you don't have to worry about anything. You make yourself at home.

Before leaving, Joey gets up and approaches Kelly before giving her a kiss on the cheek. Realizing that he shouldn't have done that, he is immediately embarrassed.

- I'm really sorry. I should not have done that. It stayed out of habit because I used to do it with my grandfather.

- It doesn't matter. On the contrary, I found it rather pleasant.

- Seriously? wonders the young man.

- With everything you've done for me since yesterday, it's still not a kiss that's going to make me angry.

- Well, I'm going, said the young man with a smile.

Before leaving the house, Joey takes his gun and walks out of the house, which the maid notices once again. Once she finds herself alone, Kelly gets out of bed and walks slowly towards the living room, limping low, before looking for the bathroom. Finding her a little later, Kelly enters but, as she tries to lock the door, it refuses to close. Assuming Joey won't be coming anytime soon, she decides not to lock it, having no choice anyway, and she walks into the shower room. Then, turning on the water while it warms up, she takes off her bikini and goes underwater once it's at the desired temperature. Taking a shower, washing her hair at the same time, she really appreciates this moment, especially since she wanted it since she woke up the day before. Once finished, she washes her bikini with shower gel and, by passing it under water, muddy water flows out. Coming out of the shower and, after drying herself off and wrapping herself in a towel, Kelly goes from room to room to find that of Priscilla, Joey's little sister, not wanting to put a soaked bikini back on her. Finding her, she looks through the girl's belongings for something that might fit her when she finds some interesting clothes. Taking them, as well as some underwear, she puts them on her bed before removing her towel to try them on. At the same time, Joey is back and, unaware of what is happening in the room, he enters without warning and sees her completely naked. Surprised, Kelly hides her private parts in a startled movement before covering herself with the towel as soon as the young man looks away.

- I'm really sorry Kelly... he told her once again embarrassed. I didn't know you were naked.

- What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to be on your way to meet my friends? she asks, unable to hide her annoyance.

- I went, he replies immediately. There was no one.

- What do you mean, nobody? Kelly wonders. It is impossible that there is no girl, Joey! I'm coming out of there...

- From where my grandfather is buried, go straight to the beach. Once there, turn left and, for about two hundred yards, I should have found them, shouldn't I?

- Are these the indications that you gave me?

- Yes, that's exactly it...

- Can you come out for a moment, while I get dressed, please? I'll meet you.

Kelly does not understand what is happening. She can't believe her friends aren't there anymore and, as she's in a moment of panic, she can't think. Putting on a crop-top and jeans under which she has put on a thong, she quickly combs her hair and ties it in a ponytail before joining Joey in the salon.

- Are you really sure you haven't missed something? she asks him as she enters the living room.

- I have to remind you that I'm on my island and I know where I buried my grandfather? he replies immediately.

- Excuse me. It is true that it was moved on my part to insist in this way. In fact, I don't understand how all the girls could have disappeared. I mean, they couldn't have vanished!

- Yes, it is possible. A boat may well have come to pick them up and bring them back to your place...

- If that's the case, no one noticed that I wasn't there? inquires the young lady becoming sad.

- Don't jump to conclusions. These are just guesses. Who knows, maybe they noticed your absence and they all started looking for you!

- It's a possibility too, she says, smiling again.

- There is another possibility. Do you remember the village I told you about earlier?

Kelly nods in agreement.

- Where you were, there is a road five hundred meters further on which leads directly to the village. If one of the girls saw him, they might just be on their way to the village. With any luck, you'll find them later.

- Unfortunately, it won't be for today.

- Why? he wonders.

- While hiding my body, I made a sudden movement and my ankle started to hurt again.

- Ouch, sorry... If you had closed the door, I would have knocked before entering.

- I didn't think you were going to come back so alive. Speaking of closing the door, I tried to close the bathroom door, but it wouldn't lock. I left my bikini there.

- It's true. The bathroom lock doesn't work. I couldn't find any use fixing it until today actually.

- I'm giving you extra work, it seems.

- No, I'm not going to fix this door. To make it more practical, you will only have to let me know when you are there.

- That also suits me as a solution.

- You have a beautiful body.

- Thank you, she said to him, smiling again. You must have rinsed your eyes well, I suppose...

- I won't say it like that... I looked away; I remind you.

- It's true that you looked elsewhere.

- Do you have a boyfriend?

- No, why are you asking me that? she asks him immediately.

- It's just a question... he answers intimidated.

- Well, in general, when a person asks this kind of question, it's not for nothing. I don't have a boyfriend and I don't expect to have one anytime soon either.

Joey hadn't expected to get such a blunt response when he meant no harm. It's sure that a beautiful young woman like Kelly attracts him but, for the moment, he was only trying to make conversation to get to know each other better. As the atmosphere becomes heavy, he decides to change rooms, not wanting to offend her further. Kelly is convinced that the young man intends to abuse her. She is aware that her way of acting towards him is not nice, especially since he is harboring her, but she has no intention of changing her way of acting.
