Please Be My Serial Killer

"I can't believe you are throwing me out!", the mad girl screamed shattering the peace of the pub and disturbing the game re telecast that was being shown on the big screen.

At least the girl seemed mad, thought Harvey as he stared at her dark messed up hair and the way she was shouting on top of her voice at the woman who was sitting at the table right in front on him.

The woman, whose back was to him seemed to have said something which made the mad woman madder and made Harvey strain his ears to eaves drop. Even then he only caught onto a few words something about not getting money on time and a boyfriend.

Cursing under his breath, he tried to move closer to the seated woman to make out what all she was saying. Her voice was so low, it seemed she was whispering. But whatever it was that said, had to be juicy enough if it could make the Mad Woman look like her ears were going to let out steam. Stealthily, he crept closer and took a seat just behind the light haired woman who was whispering.

However, even after moving closer, he only heard the last part about refusing to re-sign a sublease agreement.

Harvey almost rubbed his hands with glee as he sipped at his whiskey. He had been coming here to the pub to get rid of the writer's block that had held him for the last six months but it had been useless. All he could think of were the same old bar brawls leading to homicide and nothing that would make for an interesting mystery.

But now, with this scene materializing in front of him, he had the perfect opening for his next murder mystery! He was going to have have the whispering woman be killed by the mad woman in a fit of anger and then bury her in her own backyard as she escaped with her boyfriend. And from there, the mad woman will turn crazy for blood and start to enjoy the killing rush.. while her boyfriend will become her final victim.

Now that Harvey had started to fill out the plot in his head and given his victim and serial killer a name, motive and future, he wanted to watch the rest of the scene unfold to get more ideas like why had the whispering woman thrown her out of the house? Were they fighting over the boyfriend or the sublease? Had the mad woman cheated with the other woman's boyfriend or was it the whispering woman who was interested in the guy? The mad woman certainly looked the part to seduce a guy with less brains who did not mind his ears being hurt with that grating voice.

And how exactly did the whispering woman look like? She looked nice enough from her back. Pretty hair with all those lovely golden hair falling down her back.

However, he soon worried that he would not be able to get his wish as he watched the security approach. Well well. This was the problem with having a well run Pub! The security was too quick. He was going to be foisted because of his own rules at his own pub.

He moved subtly to indicate that they needed to wait and thankfully his men caught on and disappeared. There should be some perks to being an owner right? Let his customers also enjoy the show. He would make them witnesses for the murder in his book. Maybe the burly man at the back whose eyes were still glued to the game would testify about the altercation or provide the murder weapon...

The Times Bestseller Award? Harvey Elliott is coming for you once again!, he thought to himself

As Harvey waited in anticipation, the mad woman pointed angrily at the whisperer, almost poking the other woman in the eye as she said," You are a witch! Do you think I will believe you when you say that my boyfriend tried to grab you? I know him and I know you! You must have definitely drugged him or done some magic on him! And then you threw my things out when he refused to cheat on me!"

"Ooohhh.. witch!" Harvey narrowed his eyes. Should he give that angle in his story? The synopsis would be good, right? The serial killer would kill beautiful women and her reason would be that they were witches who were trying to seduce her boyfriend or so she believed! And in the end, he could make it so that the said boyfriend was the one who was using his girlfriend to make the killings. He would be using magic and things like that to confuse the police. As for the cover of the book, they could make a light haired witch on the cover leaning over a cauldron and stirring potions with human skull and bones thrown in. Yes... it would be good and dark the way he and his readers liked.

But the next moment the plot changed for Harvey as the whispering witch spoke in a clear and slightly louder melodic voice," I did not throw your things out. I packed them and sent them to your boyfriend's house where you have been living half the time. I warned your boyfriend the last time that if he dares to try and take liberty with me or if you use my personal items without my permission, I will cancel the agreement."

He did not know about her being a witch, but Harvey was sure that she could be a siren. Even though she spoke detachedly, she had a lovely voice. Maybe he will let her be the serial killer who will have murdered her room mate and then staged her own death to evade capture. Or have the boyfriend taken the blame for the murder.. Once again, another plot started to form in his head.

"Ha! You are the one who has been coming onto my boyfriend and now you have the gall to blame him! Also I can compensate you for using your lingerie! It's not as if you are going to wear it and show it to anyone since you have no one! Or were you going to show it off to your cat? You should not have placed it outside if you did not want me to take it."

Harvey whistled silently through his mouth and mused " A low blow by the mad woman! First she dared to use someone's personal belongings and then she exposed the fact in a bar full of people."

"Better to a cat than a gigolo.", the whispering witch spoke making Harvey give her a thumbs up in his mind and wanting to applaud! An even lower blow! He was leaning towards the second witch being his serial killer for now. She would be the exact opposite of the mad woman. Silent and unsuspicious. In fact, he would make the boyfriend the victim.. so that the investigators will keep getting confused about who the killer was. And whether it was a crime of passion or premediated murder.

"HOW DARE YOU! NIANA RIVERS, I WILL TEACH YOU A LESSON. YOU JUST WAIT!" The madwoman tried to pick up a glass bottle from the table and immediately Harvey moved, ready to defend the red haired witch but the next moment, the bottle had been snatched from the mad woman's hand and she had been kicked to the ground by the 'whispering witch.'

Harvey sadly gestured for the security to lead the woman out. They did not tolerate violence in the pub. Not even for his next bestseller. However the woman was still shouting as she was dragged out," Do you think anyone else will be willing to live with you? It is only me who has put up with all your eccentricities. A month! I'll give you a month before you come crawling back, begging me to come stay with you! And then you will know my value."

But of course, even though the show had been cut off, Harvey was happy with the progress. His fingers itched grab his laptop and write. The whispering woman had just won the serial killer role in his novel! And she was so cool and collected showing none of the hesitation or humiliation at being stared at by the crowd or when her personal life had been revealed so crassly. She would not show any hesitation even while killing the people who angered her and dared to humiliate her. An assured genius killer! Too calm on the surface while bubbling like a lava underneath.

As the woman was taken away, Harvey could hear the other patrons sigh with relief or disappointment, he wasn't sure, as they returned to their games. He turned to the bar keeper to inform him to offer free drinks for tonight. But before that he knew just what he had to do! He needed to see this woman immediately to guess what she looked like and then try and convince her for the next part of his plan that was forming in his brain.

However, before he could have approached her, he noticed her stand up and apologize to the roomful of patrons in her enchanting voice, "I apologize to everyone for this disturbance. The drinks are on me tonight." She signaled to the waiter and handed over a card before sitting back down.

This made Harvey smile even more in delight. She was really good. After this no one would blame her. And so now he directly walked to the woman and asked her," Excuse me, Miss whispering witch, will you be my serial killer?"
