Boundless Dreams

Within his own ever shifting mind, Dagon felt his conscience stir. Before him a blaring light spread out, colors flowing through the light like paint of a fresh canvas of white. He now seemed to be upon the back of a dragon. The dragon itself was perched upon a high cliff far up in what seemed almost like the heavens.

Dagon had no control over the actions of his own body, nor did he have control over the words he spoke. As he tried to say something, anything, he couldn't. But after that initial moment of confusion, he found himself just… numbing away, staring off across the endless clouds blanketing the land below. It was as though the mountain they were upon was the top of the world, leading to the heavens, the clouds obscuring the accursed land below as the sun's brilliant light danced across the fields of white.

"Tis a sight to behold, isn't it?" Came a voice.

Dagon's head swiveled over without him willing it to do so, and his eyes were then set upon a man wearing a set of bronze armor staring off across the same view. He had tan skin, fiery red hair and striking golden eyes that seemed to hold flames within them. He had a red marking tattooed over his cheek going down the side of his face almost like a scar, as well as multiple tattoos across his arms. His hair was put up in a pony tail and braided along the sides. Gold jewelry glistening in the sunlight adorned both of his ears whilst rings clung to each of his fingers.

About the man's neck was a necklace, and at the end of it was some kind of small glass jar about the size of his pinky finger, in it was what appeared to be ash.

But the man himself, though striking, was not the most awe-inspiring thing; what was truly amazing was the beast he sat upon. Below the man was some kind of large, beautiful bird, it's feathers a striking scarlet, gold and fiery orange streaking along the strands ends of each individual feather. It had a long, black slender and elegant beak, and tufts of fiery fur popped up from the top of its head. It had dazzling golden eyes and upon each of its four legs were long, sharp talons. What seemed to be embers rolled gently up from its body, dancing and bobbing through the air before dying off into ash to drift off into the world below.

"It truly is." Dagon spoke, turning away and looking back to the clouds. His voice was not his own… but it sounded… familiar…

"And all of this, this world that endlessly sprawls outwards before us is ours to grasp by the reigns and take for ourselves; to adventure, to conquer, to explore, to thrive and to live!" Came a boisterous and cheerful voice overflowing with charisma and confidence.

The man beside Dagon scoffed. "A little over the top, wouldn't you say?"

"No," Dagon spoke, again, the voice was so familiar but he couldn't quite pin it, "he's right. This world is ours for the taking; nothing is stopping us. We can live to our hearts content, unshackled and unbound."

Dagon then turned the other way to look on the opposite side. The man on this side had equally striking features.

He had dark skin and luminous green eyes with striking gold-yellow irises like that of a hawk. His hair was dark brown with tinges of dirty blonde. Earrings made from feathers hung from one ear, while his hair was an absolute mess thrashing about in the wind. He wore tattered clothes, but, beneath them, were plates of what appeared to be wooden armor, ivory vine patterns etched into them. He had long, sharp nails and his ears were pointed, ending in furry tufts.

Below the man was a large, regal beast with immense muscles and huge talons. It had dark, almost jet black fur and a set of massive feathered wings. It's hind legs were that of a giant lion or cat and a long tail flicked to and fro, while it's front legs were that of a bird's, ending in huge claws. It's head was that of a falcon, regal and elegant, with large, all-seeing eyes of amber. It had large, furry ears that flicked in the wind.

The man had a huge, confident grin plastered across his face as he held up his fist in excitement and anticipation.

"The Forgotten Continent… we will take it for ourselves!" The man cheered.

"Yes." Dagon spoke, "yes we will."

But then, the scene changed almost instantaneously. There were flashes of golden scales beneath Dagon and wrathful torrents of wind beat against him as he and the dragon struggled to stay airborne. The scarlet light of flames could just barely be seen at a distance as the man and his fiery bird from before twisted through the clouds of cosmic, shifting dark energy that gave off hues of violet and indigo. Immense, coiling shapes of massive beasts like nothing Dagon had ever witnessed before hissed and screeched horrifying death calls as they weaved through the darkness, tearing through the clouds of dark aura.

"WE NEED TO LEAVE THIS LAND!" Dagon roared, "THIS PLACE… IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE SEEN BY EYES OF MORTALS!"

And then… it all went black. Silence.

But mere moments later, the sound of birds could be heard, and the feeling of grainy sand against Dagon's skin met him as water lapped over his body.

With a groan, he slowly pushed himself up off the ground. He was on a beach, injured and bleeding. He seemed to of been washed ashore. Off in the distance, a heap of golden scales rested motionless in the sand.

"Gena!" Dagon called, and then, just as he began to get to his feet, the dream came to a sudden and abrupt end.
