Antidote.

However, when the kid promised him ten gold coins, the bald man started to have second thoughts. It was dangerous but not necessarily impossible.

Furthermore, the kid said a level one mage would do fine. Besides, recently there had been chaos in Mythfrost city. Heavy causality of level one mage and mortals alike. It wasn't that hard to get close to a body.

Dominic handed over the bag of coins before taking the closed package.

The man weighed the bag. At the sight of money, his resentment disappeared like it was an illusion. Grinning ear to ear, said a few good words to Dominic, urging him to find if he needed anything.

When Dominic returned to the manor, he entered via the back door.

Returning to his room, he closed the door and emptied the blood into the pot over the fireplace. Most of the things in the room had been pawned away, exchanged for gold coins. Although, as the useless son, the amenities he had were limited. Anything from the Duke's manor would easily fetch a few gold coins.

And those few gold coins were what he needed most. At least, right now.

Dominic carefully controlled the fire and sat by the fireplace. The crackling wood would throw out sparks at intervals.

He had long realized that the reason behind the delay of awakening wasn't because of this body's inherent lack of talent. Rather it was because this lad had been poisoned when young. As someone who had expertise in potions, dealing with such a trivial poison was an easy matter for him.

However, Dominic resources were limited.

Since he lacked money, he could only substitute with inferior material.

For the last week, he had been on the mission to search for the items he could use to concoct the antidote. At first, as the ignored son of the Duke, it had been easy to slip in and out of the residence unnoticed.

With time, servants picked up on the odd scent of his concoctions. There were a few questions. He had managed to ward them off. But the suspicions remained.

With this, the number of eyes that noticed his each and every movement doubled.

"Just one more night." Noah dragged his chair closer to the fireplace and opened a book he had borrowed from the library.

By the time morning arrived, he had finished reading it. He closed the book and looked through the brewing antidote. He stirred the thick liquid and poured out a bowl.

Sniffing it, he found the smell adequately disgusting. If it had smelled better, chances were, Dominic failed. Steeling his heart, he brought the concoction to his lips and drank it in big gulps.

He held back a gag before placing the bowl down.

All of sudden, Dominic felt dizzy. He made his way to the bed and sat down in a meditative posture. When he closed his eyes, he felt the sensations boiling in his body.

The liquid travelled to his gut, absorbed into his bloodstream and ran through his veins. It made his blood heat up making him feel hot and feverish. Dominic fought against the spells of dizziness.

He mustn't fall unconscious.

Otherwise, the antidote would do more harm than good.

As the antidote rushed through his veins, it fought against the thick, dark substance that clogged his capillaries. It dominated it and forced it out via his pores.

Dominic kept a steady state of mind, letting the medicine do its job.

After an hour, he opened his eyes and almost vomited from the odour emanating from his body.

A black, gooey substance covered his skin. These were the impurities forced out after taking the medicine. He immediately ran to the bathroom and took a bath, scrubbing his body clean.

When he came back, he furled and unfurled his fingers.

"I feel light and clean. My state of mind is clearer but that's far from the effect I want." Dominic observed that he would need to repeat the process a lot more times before he could adequately get rid of the poison.

It had been so long since he was poisoned that the thing had seeped deep into this body's bones.

By the first treatment, he had managed to get rid of 80 per cent of impurities. But the remaining 20 per cent is going to be tenacious to get rid of.

Dominic went ahead to clean the signs of last night activities when a knock came at his door. A servant informed. "Young Lord, Duke Erwin has summoned you to the Main Hall."
