A World of Neons and Sins

Sirens and panic permeated the district of Barnet in London as it had been several hundreds of years since this city experienced anything remotely close to a blackout.

"H-HELP!! M-MY HEART!!"

"W-WHAT IS GOING ON!?"

"EMP?!"

"I CAN'T BREATHE, I CAN'T BREATHE!!!"

"S-SOMEONE, HELP! UGH!!"

"SHUT UP AND GIVE ME EVERYTHING YOU GOT!"

*BOOOOOMMM!!*

Dozens of flying vehicles plopped from the skies, having the people that rode on them get panicked as everything simply stopped working, this is without a doubt a terrorist attack.

...

As chaos reigned over the lands, the individual that caused all this floated peacefully amidst the beautiful darkness that was only bright due to a moon in the skies, a moon that if one noticed closely, seemed to not be shining as much as it should.

Morpheus floated and glanced at the distance and could see that his magic hadn't extended that far.

His short auburn hair fluttered with the wind together with his six elemental wings.

'Only six remain... and that single darkness spell took a lot from me my divinity core is very weak, I shouldn't be able to use more than three 1st Tier spells for a while.'

He doesn't know why his father would take away a gigantic portion of his divinity, possibly to make life more 'interesting'... as with his entire power everything would have been too easy.

It had been so long since he felt this weak.

...

"He sent me here to save this world?"

As he floated through the chaotic city, all the events happening within seemed to be oblivious to him.

This world is finished, he can feel its vitality swinging by a delicate string, ready to be gone for eternity forsaking the headstrong humans that turned it into this wasteland, the atmosphere's air couldn't be any worse, dirty.

...

Releasing a sigh, he floated away, thinking about what he would do next, possibly get more information about this world.

Due to the existence of magic, his previous world was one that lacked technology or any kind of deep scientific evolution.

The technology and elements in front of him were so foreign that it couldn't help but trigger his curiosity about how they worked, these lights, announcements, flying vehicles... even the people that ran in panic, most of them had limbs that weren't flesh, it looked like metal.

'I will just walk for now and try to see what this world has to offer, the key is to know what's causing the planet's death.'

The blackout lasted for half an hour, half an hour in which anarchy took over the district of Barnet.

"Public authorities have determined that the cause of the recent terrorist attack that took place in the district of Barnet, was nothing more than an EMP deployed by the infamous terrorist group V2, the authorities are working hard on finding traces that could lead to any potential guess of the location of their headquarters, stay tuned to the news... this is Carol in BBC News."

"..." As he looked at this 'screen' with wonder, he saw how an individual, clearly not human as her factions didn't look humanistic... talked with more perfection and asymmetry than a human did.

This 'Carol' is not a person, it's some kind of talking metal... one of which he has seen several already.

Several days passed by and he stood in the middle of the dirt road, this time, the sun shone upon them, sometimes darkening all of the sudden even when there were no clouds in the sky as if something was in the way, covering the delightful light of the sun that he basked on, the most natural thing in this world.

"Sir, would you like to buy a new clock? It's a Rolex!"

"..."

He got interrupted when a voice addressed him, he moved his gaze away from the screen and looked at the two boys that had shiny neon pink hair and shiny glasses.

The two boys also glared at him with bewilderment.

His clothes and even his entire appearance were foreign.

"Are you a cosplayer or something, brother?"

"... Excuse me?"

"Anyway, we have a Rolex, I'll give it to ya for half of the price! ten quid alright!?"

"Rolex?" Morpheus didn't understand, he glared at the 'device' that was being shown to him, fair enough, he knows what a clock is, but this looked different... it has numbers instead of needles.

"Yes, come here to the alleyway, we can do the trade... in there..." Seeing how this person seemed to be confused, one of the guys gave a discreet glance to the other who nodded briefly before showing Morpheus a toothy smile.

"..." He furrowed his brows, noticing this brief exchange.

"Come come, it's a good deal!" They walked to the dark alleyway and he followed, ready to see what they 'had'.

"Terrorist attack... by V2..."

'Yes, we were accused of no reason, I have already analysed the attack, it's weird... the traces of energy don't look as if it was an EMP... it might have been an independent attack.'

"Could it have been a failure in the systems, a Y2K of sorts?"

'Impossible, such protocols have already been erased from all software since two generations ago and there hasn't been such a failure ever... I can 'see' the traces of nanobots within the charges get erased all of the sudden... this is unlike anything I have sensed before. As expected, we were blamed.'

"I don't have control over the authorities' announcements..."

'I know...'

"What is the next target?"

'There is a cargo coming through Walthamstow, all the way from Birmingham... it should have a hundred kilos of ecstasy, it's a deal that was done through officer Richardson, there won't be any police hijacking it.'

"I'll be back to my spot."

"Take care..."

'Null won't get involved this time as the treaty with the officer is up, I have assembled a team, Hana... you're going in three hours.'

"Understood."

...

The silver-haired beauty whose hair reached her shoulders stopped paying attention to the voices within her mind as her purple eyes focused on the robot standing to the front once again...

"Charge the web package of economy classes, students."

"Yes, Mr Hans."

The students moved their fingers through their interfaces and loaded the 'classes'... the knowledge had already been imparted inside their brains, only the practice is needed.

"Do you have the package, Hana?" A voice resounded beside her, a little panicked, it's her friend, Lucy... one of the lots she has, the 'friends' that hang out with her often.

"Y-Yes... do you need it, Lucy?" She answered, not surprised that the redhead had forgotten her web packages.

"Please! I erased it... by mistake... and the interface to download it is already closed, pretty please..."

*Sigh*

She accepted and sent the package through, it's not that it costs a lot of effort.

"You're the best! when is your next concert? I will go with Brice!" He really likes your singles, the redhead smiled and immediately started to prepare her web package for the class.

"Next Saturday..." Hana turned around nonchalantly, she would be able to enjoy herself at that time, far away from her erratic life.
