This was the first rejection I didn't fall into utter despair over, in fact it lit spark of anger deep inside my heart.
Our conversation went thusly, a man with a computer bag draped on his shoulder walking into Barry Cho's office.
(CFO of a number of startups and the face of million dollar transactions.
One could even say the fact I was even allowed to step in his office and talk for 30 seconds is a miracle.) - irrelevant information / drama
"Since you have a similar background", I asked in a quiet tone.
"I don't have time", delivered in a bothered tone. He returned to staring at his computer screen, perhaps he was watching a newscast or daily entertainment. (It sounded probably like business, but who knows I don't like to make excuses for the guy. He could very well have been protecting his time and energy)
As a part-time student studying while working in sales, rejection is common. In sales, 9 out of 10 customers will reject you. A good 7 or 8 of them you won't even get to see the faces of before you can even ask.
Society is not smooth sailing. I recall a line in a movie that the high school teachers said to his students, "if you sit in the back two rows of the classroom you are doomed to be just the dirt beneath their feet."
Often times people say it was their hardship that they endured that made them better. Allowing them to realize and wake up.
I don't have that sense of forgiveness in my heart, I don't let it fester and grow. However naive as I may be, I'd rather not forget. Even at my age, I still have a streak of immaturity and stubborness I won't let go.
